Thanks for the fact you made an attempt at this so encouraging others to give it a go. What I would say is mine is a CM921 and I found these points: 1. The flap or switch cover does not need to be removed. 2. The back cover comes off really easily if the two slots, inside the battery compartment, are where you unclip the back. 3. I used wooden clothes pegs to put pressure on the screen as opposed to metal clamps which meant they didn't get as hot from the toaster and I could, after heating over the toaster, put additional pressure when removed from the toaster. 4. I had to go through the procedure 4 times before it finally worked - more to do with my concerns over the amount of heat needed. Persevere and you will be rewarded. 5. Watch out with the sliding switch for, off, man, auto, etc. as I found I needed to take the metal contact off the slider and bend the contacts out so they made good contact on reassembly. This may have been because I took it apart so many times. Once again thank you, saved me some money.
What I so so love about this video is that you’ve not done a “I am an expert” video !! From the difficulties in taking it apart from not working first time - This was just a pleasure to watch !! Can’t wait to try the repair for myself !

It was unsuccessful at first attempt, so I tried again but kept it on the toaster for 1 minute, it go very hot and I thought I’d boiled the scree! I let it cool right down and yes a perfect result all fully working now. 👍😉
Just used this method now and the screen is fully working 100% again. My screen had fully delaminated, was just flapping about and there was no information on it at all. I had to “toast” mine for around total 3 mins in 45 second blocks, letting it cool right down before doing it again. Thanks for the helpful video!
Third time lucky! In the end I used some wooden pegs, two small G clamps and a hot air gun. I was careful not to over tighten clamps though. Many thanks. You've saved us many pounds.😊

Thank you for this. It worked, and one of the displays was almost blank. If it helps others, I tried first with a 2kW hair dryer (as I thought the toaster was a bit hardcore), but didn't work. I suppose a hot gun would be needed to achieve the melting temperatures of the adhesive. Then I used the toaster technique. I did 30 seconds exactly as shown in the video followed by 20 seconds with the clamps at the corners. I am very pleased to say that it fixed both thermostats' displays and made me save 100 to 200+ GBP. Thank you very much indeed!
well its been about 10 months & mine has broke again so I will be taking it apart again a heating it up in the next mont or so, just in time for the cold weather, glad you got it fixed.

Well done, very thorough, as I do similar repairs I find it best to video the whole disassembly process so I don't forget how to re assemble as I have the attention span of a gold fish, great to learn from you. cheers

Thanks. Worked first time and restored screen fully! Only issue was it initially said the room temp was like 25 degrees haha but I think the screen just needed to cool down after it’s “sunbed” hahaha
Nice one. This actually works, maybe you have to give it a couple of goes depending on how bad your screen is, but definitely works. Saved myself a lot of money with this 😀👍
I had a go too and after a few attempts I figured out it was the plastic ribbon cable coming away from the circuit board. Once the glass screen is flipped up off the white backing. Behind the white backing is where the cable is stuck to the circuit board running my finger across this to stick it back down fixed the issue. I think the heating and clapping probably achieves the same effect.
The fron cover is hinged, just remove the batteries and with a flat blade screwdriver put into the corner slot and gently twist, do the other side as well and the cover will release onto its hinge Instead of a toaster use a hair dryer.
Our son used this method and although it did work initially the screen went again after 6 months and is now completely blank we can't read anything now so looks like a new thermostat will be needed.

hi . I own a Honeywell ST9400C unit. The mode button on the heating side appears to be broken, and I am unable to switch between auto, once, cont, and so on. So far, I've just discovered that this button is broken. I can't tell whether it's a Honeywell issue because only one button isn't working. I'm trying to think of any other possibilities before purchasing one and replacing it. Have you ever had a problem like this with another Honeywell unit? Thank you very much
Thanks very much for the video, but your method didn't work for me. However the video prompted me to investigate further. There is a multi connection flexi film to connect the LCD to the PCB. These often become troublesome, particularly in Phillips DECT cordless phones. The fix which works for me is to use a hair drier on the flexi, then when it is as warm as you can stand, use your finger to run along the flexi and press it against the glass on the top side and do the same for the flexi to PCB connection. Maybe a plastic tool might be better, but I do a lot of welding and my fingers are a bit less sensitive to heat!!! I expect your clamp technique with the heat helped press the flexi against the PCB while warm. I was going to splash the cash on an internet heating controller until I saw this!
i never tested that but worth a go, just put it on high setting it might take a little longer to heat up, i did the toaster for about 20-30 seconds, but i did it twice
I’ve tried your technique to fix mine, but it didn’t work. When I press on any of the panel buttons the screen goes blank. I then have to shake it to get the screen back which is very annoying. Anyone got ideas what the problem could be? The digital display is perfect otherwise..

I just took it apart and wasn't very confident putting it back together but now it works like new thanks mate
I used little bulldog clips and a hairdryer for a while till screen darkened all over and it worked first time. Thanks.

Not bad. The correct way to open the back cover is via the clips inside the battery compartment. The top ones are actually hinges

Sorry I am no expert, you could try taking it apart and clean inside, maybe a bad connection inside, this may fix the issue

try using a pencil rubber on the contacts under the buttons on the circuit board. or use switch cleaner?

Followed the steps minus croc clips and toaster
Held firmly in place against a warm radiator for 3 mins, cooled, repeated thrice and display returned
