most issues i run into w/the ladies is bad timing, them trying to lead, & “bunny hopping” & stomping on my boots ... i always fall back on “the sway” - swaying back & forth on the 1 & 3 beats of a song ... if they can sway good, then we can move on to more sophisticated dancing ...

My first 2 step dance lesson was Wednesday (15 March 23).
I'm older, and I never was into R&B dancing, which was very awkward for me.
I still have more to learn. However, the dance moves are easy on the body, which is perfect.

Great list. I am surprised framework didn't make it, especially in a social situation since you never know what you're getting. Unless you've been paying attention to them dancing with others.

I'm pretty tolerant and forgiving about various dance faux pas from dancers. None of us is perfect, right? And we're all there to have fun, to learn, and to get better with each outing. The one time I got really pissed off, though, was when a leader was gripping my hands so hard it was painful. I asked him if he could lighten up the connection in the hand because it was a little too hard for me, and his response was, "Well, no one else has every complained about it!" Yup. 14K jerk!

We are on team “it’s ok to say no to a dance.” 🤣

My #1 Problem with Followers: not keeping their step. And that's usually because they're trying to anticipate my lead and trying to "help", and so taking their minds off their feet and our dance connection.

I tend to watch the raised hand when I’m dancing & if it’s not going where I’m supposed to be going that’s when I get lost lol, but the only time I don’t want to dance with someone again is when we’re struggling to find it and they’re mean about it. I’ve been snapped at a handful of times by leaders that I had a harder time following & it does not make me a better dancer it just makes me feel bad & now I don’t like you either. 😂

Actually, all of it was very helpful. I am in my early 80s and have just started dancing for the first time. . Your videos on ECS taught me to successfully execute that dance style and the whole notion of breaking everything down into modules fit right into my sweet spot and made all the difference. I spent 40 years in information technology and this is done the same way...taking very complex problems and breaking them down into smaller parts that be understood and mastered. So your training ment a huge amount to me and allowed me to successfully try WCS, and Country, and work on Rumba, Waltz, and similar dance routines. But probably the number one less I learned is not to muscle my partner around but to just let her dance and give clear signals as to what the next move should be. I have watched a lot of your videoes and will keep searching for more. You both do a great job.

I love you guys. I thought this video was going to be about other bad dancers around you. Like people who don't follow 2-step Floor etiquette. They get into your way going the opposite. How do you deal with that? Thanks

I have to disagree with the timing or being off beat with the music especially in competitions. It’s an automatic out. Leaders, take a class in musicality or step up. If it’s a social setting, that’s one thing, but it is just not in me to be off beat to the music.
