      Seriously....
      I haven't got a Tirpitz but I plan on getting one. I currently play the shinyhorse and I love running straight into other BBs...
      I went straight into an Iowa (I was angled) and I bounced a lot of his shells....
      To be fair the guy didn't seem like a great player but I quite like how the German BBs play. They're brawlers and that's how they should be played.... if you want bullshit accurate guns then get an American bb or Japanese.

      @@jarrusjenkins Other BBs like Nelson atc. didn´t have them beacuse they are placed under water line and if they will implement those torps in game, then half of all BBs in game would have torps those on Scharny, Tirpitz, Gneiss, Mutsu, Kii are all above water line. Any BB can easily bounce shells from other BBs unless it´s something like Nelson.

    I’m an American and obviously a fan of the Iowa, but I would like to say I really appreciate the Yamato commentator giving fair credit to both Iowa and Yamato by acknowledging each ship’s strengths and what battle conditions would favor each ship. @@evanglencorse KGV was only equivalent to those in protection but was very inferior in firepower and speed. It just couldn't keep the pace on a battle against those monsters. When the Bismarck's armoured belt was inspected with minisubmarines in the 2002-2003, it only had 4 pemetrations aside from 2 torpedo hits from HMS Dorsetshire and they were confirmed 406mm shots from the HMS Rodney.
      The original KGV design with 3 turrets with 380mm guns had a chance, but the cheaper result trying to do a treaty battleship had a lot of problems. Specially with the new quad turret design that proved to be too unreliable and usually jammed and had electrical malfunctions in battle.

    • @maximmihailov8167
      @maximmihailov8167 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sevi117 I have to disagree with you on the KGV. KGV had superior protection to the other 3 BBs, and while yes it had a much smaller gun size it was slightly offset by great accuracy and number of guns, take note that while Tirpitz, Littorio and Richelieu had 15 inch guns, only Littorio had 9 while Tirpitz and Rhcelieu had 8. KG5 had 10x14 inch guns, which after a bit of time in service also did not jam or have many malfunctions. KGV in my opinion is a match for all of those, it would use it's superior armour to force them to close the distance in order to pen it, in which ranges it's 14 inch guns would be able to do a lot of damage.

    • @sevi117
      @sevi117 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maximmihailov8167 remember that Pennsylvania and New Mexico classes with 12x14 inch guns were considered inferior in firepower to Colorado class with 8x16 inch guns, and Fuso and Ise (original, not refit) with 12x14 inch guns were considered inferior to Nagato class with 8x16.1 guns. Firepower is not only about the number of guns and KGV was gunnery was considered underpowered from the moment it was launched. The original design, in fact, was designed at first with 12x14 inch guns in 3 cuadruple turrets, but it weighted too much and compromised the stability so the second turret was lightened to carry only 2. Also they studied to change to 15x9 guns like the Americans did with the North Carolina class (whose first design was with 14 inch guns and was changed to 16 inch while they were building it) but they wanted the battleships as fast as posible. About the protection it was only better at the magazines and maybe underwater protection. But the coning tower and the main turret protection was considered light compared to contemporary battleships. The conning tower armour was considered only sufficient to protect against smaller ship guns and shell fragments.

    A more interesting matchup for Iowa, in my opinion, would be the Soviet Kirov battlecruiser commissioned in the 1980s. Historically, it was the soviet large battlecruisers which influenced the US to make the decision to recommission the Iowa class battleships in response. The US battleship would bring armor and firepower to the table, but the Kirov would have the more modern sensors and air-defense equipment coupled with very long range anti-ship missiles which could, in theory at least, punch straight through Iowa's belt armor.
    Though the main argument in favor of Iowa's armor is the STS steel, the primary penetrator aboard a P700 missile would have been HEAT. Thick steel armor is what post-war HEAT was designed to penetrate. It would have been a very interesting matchup indeed.

    I'd like to see historically accurate guns. So the Iowa class should have the best accuracy in the game, period! The yamato has already an advantage with the overmatch capability so no need for it to be the most accurate bb(although I enjoy her guns but it will be more satisfying to give the credit to the iowas). The Germans have the secondaries but I still would give the tirpitz and Bismark 1.9 sigma. I'd give the yamato 2.0, the iowas and Montana 2.1, and probably other small changes for balance but I would start the build around the guns because that's what a BB is all about

    Weather would play a major factor since Iowa has FC radar. Look at the Duke of York vs Scharnhorst. But history is full of weird twists, and just as that either Tirpits or Yamato could hit the radar of iowa, or the propulsion on a lucky shot.
    These things are hard to predict, and i am sure even a battle under the same conditions would have varying results if they would be redone again and again, just due to where shells would hit.
    But Iowa with the FC radar alone does have a major advantage with her radar.

Its a blast to use but for reasons, the console version of this game sees A LOT of Iowa players. More or less every game I play there are two or more Iowas per team and it is frustrating. Both Iowa and Tirpitz are in the same tier but 9/10 times and Iowa will win a 1v1 and i think something should be changed to tip the scales so its a bit more even. Even at close range you aren’t safe cuz one broadside from an Iowa will send you back to port. In the console version of the game, it really does feel like Iowa is OP and something needs to change. People deff gravitate towards the easiest and best stuff to use so when you have 2+ Iowas per team every tier 8 game... it means you should probably look at something.

    Well... one thing you guys left out was that YAMATO had huge guns, and therefore huge and super-heavy shells. In real battles, YAMATO's guns took about 2 minute to fully reload. Also, due to YAMATO's massive guns being placed too close together in spite of their size unlike GERMAN or USN battleships, it had terrible dispersions... In real life you know...
