I’m bad at sound design, so I tried this…

The cool thing about this is that it’s a great way for someone to learn to do sound design. If someone does this enough, they’re going to start to learn what all the parameters do and how they affect the sound. I know you could do that by just messing around on your own, but if someone starts with a sound in mind and can get guidance on how to create the sound, I think they might be more likely to retain the information. At least I know it would work that way for me.

You're an incredibly fun producer to watch and, even if I don't practice the skills I've learned just by watching (and re-watching) your videos, I love to just watch your process and flow.

Very enjoyable! I have always been intimidated by sound design myself, so I may have to give this a try.

Hi Teatro, I left a comment about your Transit code, I think you could check to see that it works, I used someone else's in the end as I didn't know how long the offer was valid and wanted to get it, but their code was fine so you might want to see it's all set up properly, apart from that have a fun week! ;D

Nice job on the sound design! As for ChatGPT, well, it's interesting to see what it comes up with. I don't think it would have got you where you wanted to go on all of these patches if you didn't have a good working knowledge of sound design though. And I think you do have that, even if you don't consider it your strong suit. I also didn't see it demonstrate any specific knowledge of Equator 2. It seemed to be giving generic advice for any subtractive synth, and was unaware that Equator 2 has a sampler, granular, wavetables, 6 sound sources etc. Nonetheless, interesting experiment, and I did like what GPT did by translating terms "glassy" and "sugar" and the like to something a bit more concrete for sound design.

Yes it provided a relatively basic starting point, but did help guide me through the process. I think it could be prodded to speak more specifically about Equator 2, but I'm using the dumb chatgpt so I didn't poke to hard as to keep the process smooth.
I did do some experiments in preparation where I could get it to speak more specifically about equator, but some of it's info was out of date and it would get a little too "in the weeds"
ultimately it was a fun experiment and similarly my favorite part was seeing it translate abstract concepts into sound design ideas. Thank you for watching!

Great video! I love the Blade Runner and Kalimba examples. Yes, it would be great to see you do more videos like this using Chatgpt. Would it be possible to show some examples in Ableton as well, at the moment I don't have the Roli.

So .... in each case, while the instructions were fairly specific, you chose to expand upon the instructions. So, I wouldn't yet say that AI "did the sound design," but rather guided you through the process. The final artistic choices were yours. Would the sounds as designed been good sounds? Sure, thye'd have been fine. But it's your aesthetic applied to the ChatGPT guidance that truly made the patches unique and interesting.
As @shannonpalmer said, it is a great way for novices to learn the basic. But I think we're still a good ways off before AI can fully build satisfying patches on its own.

yeah for sure! It set me on the right path, but ultimately I had to make it musical. For me, it was better than just jumping in on my own at least.

Nice promotional video for Roli. But GPT is ridiculous, you should learn this by yourself and not by such a silly AI. And if you rely on the AI then you become lazy and completely clueless. The same as with such things as "Instant chords".

the less people will lose works self taught cause when you see you're getting answer what you want but instead you shoukd do it in your own then there wilol be no talent in you
