He quite literally got the happiest outcome he could: he was freed from his 500 years torment , saved every single soul he had, became a hero and made sure the Abyss would never return, all while showing the biggest middle finger to the goddess who put him in that situation, we couldn't see through the mask, but i guess we can all agree: he was totally smiling at the end.
This. Some "fans" are mad because he's not playable doesn't understand the character at all the dude had enough and wants to die and at the same time save the souls he kept in his heart? As a fan why would you be mad at the writers they gave him the best ending he could hope for. But no he ain't playable so its "bad writing".
So in parallel to the Simulanka quest, we initially thought that we were the "Hero" but it turned out to be Scaramouche. Now in Natlan, the real hero was Capitano o7
@@jeykrim6767 yeah, we were always "the witness", never a hero, never a villian, for we knew that we would one day outlive the stars. However, with it, we come to an acceptance: we shall witness their moments, and make sure that they will always be remembered
But I still don’t understand the dragon part is supposed to show the pyro sovereign or are we still gonna get a quest about durin in monstadt because during simulanka they literally said we would learn more about durin
No, the hero was Mavuika and secondly the Traveler. These two are the ones that beat the Abyss and won the war after all the centuries of conflict. Capitano just took Mavuika's place as the sacrifice, saving her and the lost souls in the process.
@@OnigoroshiZero I don't think so... It's like the storyteller said at the end of the quest: The traveller fought for the living, Capitano for the dead and Mavuika was the bridge that united both. Take one out from the formula and the Abyss would be still around in Natlan. The three were equally indispensable for the final victory against the Abyss.
@@josearmandovalenciayoga News of Capitano's "sacrifice" reached Her Majesty the Tsaritsa, and Her Majesty the Tsaritsa still leaves the position of 1 Harbinger only for Capitano. So, there will be no Harbingers or anything that will rise to rank 1 Harbingers. But, despite all that, Capitano still didn't bring the Gnosis Pyro for Her Majesty the Tsaritsa, so there would be other Harbingers going to Natlan. And the strongest theory at the moment is between Dottore or Columbina. So, we can only wait, just like Signora who got a trailer after her death, I think Capitano will also get the same trailer in the next few months!!
@@smileyjerry3607 oh i think then that mavuika's second story that should get the next weekly boss is going to be columbina and then she will give the gnosis
I think that while abrupt, that this 'end' for capitano was the biggest power move yet in the game, and a peaceful rest for an immortal who would only continue to suffer. Ill miss him for sure...
he’s the #1 harbinger for a reason. not only does he possess immense physical strength, his mental strength and solidarity of his principles for being able to keep those souls inside him for centuries is unparalleled. may he and all those souls rest in peace. he died a hero, and will forever be a hero
The man carries so much of that burden and used it as one final FU to the gods and let the souls rest. If that is not legend GOAT status, then i don't know what is. +1 respect +1 salute 🫡
players: genshin is such a baby, they only kill npcs and don't have the guts to kill playables *kills hyped character* player: that's not what we meant-
I think this also shows that the Tsaritsa is less evil than what other characters in Genshin think, when it comes to the Fatui. When you think about it: Childe, Arle, and The Captain served the Tsartisa, but never were they really evil people. The Tsartisa even allowed the Harbingers to follow their own paths at same time as following her order (and even allowed The Captain to keep his No.1 Harbinger spot even in death) Arle and the Fatui helped during Fontaine, and The Captain and Fatui helped during Natlan. I personally think the Fatui accepted being looked at as the lesser evil because of the methods they use to achieve their goal, but in reality I think their goal is actually a more positive outcome (although it could be positive in their eyes, but not in general) for the ppl in Teyvat against beings like the Heavenly Principles.
Childe summon ancient god to kill whole nation - not evil, signora manipulated nation leaders to get gnosis meanwhile scara and dottore causing civil war rivals inside country - not evil, dottore and scara creating new archon inside sumeru city to destroy and rule the world - not evil, arle was "good" in fontaine just to get gnosis, we don't know what "good" thing her children do on other missions and we forget that capitano wanted to kill mavuika in first place, but yeah, they are good guys idk in what place tho
@@greenvega OP doesn't say that the Fatui is not evil at all; he/she said that Fatui is the lesser evil. Do not think in extremes, else you missed OP's point entirely.
Thrain, you were the hero among heroes. To trick a Shade and ensure victory to all... none had ever managed such a margin before. You will be remembered.
Actually... Ronova did not granted him death unfortunately (Yeah, I want him playable but I want his rest much more, he deserved to end his journey) Ronova had to choose: lift the curse and allow him to die - paying debt or sustain the curse - debt not payed, yet she had to accept that She had to forsake one of her rules, death for borowing her power or curse of immortality. She chose to sustain the curse and accept unpayed debt as It is. If she would not accept that it would cause the paradox since he should be dead. That's why she could not ask for Mavuika's death at this point. Lord of the Night decided to take Captain over Mavuika, and as soon as that happened Captain was dead or at least he should be so he should pay the debt in Mavuika's place. As we know his curse is still there as it granted Lord of the Night eternal life when they connected. The curse was not shifted to Lord, It's still linked to Captain and through him - to the Lord. He also said that he will become "Master of the Night Kingdom" and will be able to change the rules, for that he must be conscious. He is indeed free from his terribly broken body and souls he guarded had been realised but Captain's status is still the same - he is immortal. I hope he will have a good rest at least... at some point either we, the Tsaritsa or Abyss Order will come for him as he now posses absolute knowleage about laylines structure - crusial thing for all parties.
In honor of the Captain, I unknowingly started applauding after seeing his fate. Bravo to the Captain for his sacrifice and to Genshin Impact for once again proving that it's a pioneer in plot/story and one of the best games ever imo.
Unfortunately there won't be a winter lazzo.m Tsaritsa made it clear that he will retain his position as the number 1 fatui harbinger. And even if it's out of respect or anything then the fatui harbingers would update their voice lines about capitano's sacrifice.
Capitano's departure was like a knife stabbing directly into the hearts of those who had been waiting for him to become a playable character, Hoyo has once again done something no one expected 😭 But I still hope that a miracle will happen, even if it is very small...
After read&understand his entire story....Man, please let him rest captain deserve a peaceful and eternal one but at least all my primo that I keep in case captain is playable now was spend for C2R1 Mavuika & Citlali
After Tsaritsa learned about Capitano's sacrifice. She decided to locked the position of the "1st Fatui Harbingers" for him. In this process, no one will ever replace him as the number 1 harbinger, not even stronger than him. So, there's still love left on the god of love itself. I hope she visits Capitano's throne 1 day. Rest in peace "Sentinel Knight"
One of the best characters in Genshin Impact so far. o7 Thrain/Capitano. Also hot take? I hope he stays “dead”. He earned his revenge and his rest. It would feel cheap to bring him back just to make him playable.
Agreed, but there's a part of me that is coping for him to be playable somehow. I mean Heck, if Capitano is in the TCG, I will absolutely Maining him in a heartbeat (no pun intended)
Capitano is a character from the "villain side", but to me and many others he is a hero who accepted to sacrifice himself for the things of the past... +1 respect 😔
@@silverjuly9339 not really a surprise, it have been state that all fatui harbinger can do as they want. since theres a agreement before they join in harbinger, like dottore who wants something related to his experiments
genshin world is a lot more complicated than good vs bad, the heavenly principles/celestia has done a lot of good in the world, but also a lot of bad, the fatui have people like dottore/childe/wanderer but also ones like capitano/arlecchino, and the abyss has the twin who i doubt just became evil, i guess we'll have to wait until the end of the game to really judge
I was sad that we will not get playable capitano but after playing new archon quest and get to know more about capitano this is the perfect ending for capitano, 500 years of suffering for his comrades what a great warrior (i guess he suffered more than mavuika) that 1 minute of animation about capitano made me cry for hours
The one thing I didn't like about this was that Mavuika had a story quest announced for AFTER the Archon Quest, which pretty much gave away the ending and reduced the stakes because she was never in any danger. I thought that was pretty annoying actually. The story could have had so much more suspense if Hoyoverse hadn't spoiled it from the start. But Captain, my Captain...pulling that off and doing a massive middle finger to the gods. What an absolute legend. I'm mad he's not going to be playable (although if there's timey wimey shenanigans in the Khaenri-ah chapter, he could be a playable character there as his past self...yes, I'm coping but that would be so cool) but he deserves his rest.
Possibly a dumb question: What was stopping Ronova from continuing with the original plan of taking Mavuika's life instead of Capitanos? Was she kinda hoping Mavuika could survive this and Thrain showed up kinda conveniently (from Ronova's perspective)? Ie. The whole "Phanes doesn't know and Ronova's trying to finish it up asap" dealio?
As Ronova herself said in the quest, it's an angel's duty to do what they can to assist humanity, and she can't interfere. The angel in question is the Lord of The night, and it was up to her to decide the one who would be sacrificed
Yeah, at first I didn't quite understand why Ronova didn't just insist on Mavuika's death at that moment. But then I realized it doesn't really seem to matter when or how Mavuika dies, just that she does, as a "rule". Mavuika wanted to choose the when and how, and arranged her own sacrifice with the Lord of the Night Kingdom to extend the lifespan of the Night Kingdom. This method of death depends on the Lord's agreement, and Ronova can't interfere. And then Capitano swoops and says "I have a better idea" and the Lord of the Night Kingdom goes "I agree this is a better idea" and then there's not a need for Mavuika to sacrifice her life anymore. Her original choice of death is no longer an option, and doesn't gain anyone anything. Because the Lord and Capitano reached an arrangement, his immortality curse and Natlan's "rules" from Xabalanque's gambit now conflict. There's now a completely separate problem from Mavuika's life debt. (Though Capitano did benefit from that because Ronova had to show up to bear witness to Mavuika's original plan) This forced Ronova to resolve the paradox real quick before the Heavenly Principles got wise to the nonsense that was happening. So basically, at this point, Mavuika's death doesn't even matter anymore, Renova had to GTFO before anyone else started looking too closely. So technically Mavuika's death is still up in the air, but Ronova is unlikely to come back and enforce it. And she'll probably just live her normal lifespan without interference.
Call it coping, but it’s strange to me that the Tsaritsa would choose her first Harbinger to be someone who abandoned her goal as fast as he did. Though we know she allows her harbingers to have autonomy, I still can’t be too convinced. Also, every harbinger we’ve encountered so far has come in at least two nations (Dottore coming soon too as we were told). Also, even someone like Signora had a lore thought out and explained through an artifact set - I won’t even mention the truckloads of content my boy Scaramouche has about him, Childe following close after. Capitano’s story was just dumped at the end as an explanation to the sole question we had about him (that, what was his end goal in Natlan apart from the gnosis?) I’d like to believe that his current position makes him even more valuable for future Fatui- and Tsaritsa-related plans/stories. Though, all this aside, I hope he does rest well. 🫡
@ my other question is, why would he choose to be a part of the fatui to fulfill his goal? he could stay in natlan without being associated with the fatui to be stationed at natlan since he was already acknowledged as a hero. and if he wanted to be lowkey he could’ve just worn a mask anyway
she knew he'd do this, she gave him the opportunity to be free, she's the archon of love remember and it's not like she doesnt have other harbringers who can get the job done, but if capitano was still around he might have interfered or go against her if they did take the gnosis, now with him gone, there's no one else, mavuika is still weakened and if tsaritsa is anything close to as powerful as raiden in lore, the current mavuika wouldnt be able to stop her
@@Hhhh22222-w she won’t be replacing him so there must be more to it than we know, was my point. we still don’t know what capitano has done in the fatui for the last 500 years; if you think about it, we don’t know as much about him as we do about other harbingers we’ve met- so I don’t think we’ve had the end of his story.
the description about those abyss plant like mimics talks about their alien like behaviour and their powers to absorb information and memories from the leylines and capitanos heart have the same power. looks like khanria was researching abyss and nahida's thoughts on mauvika are also very interesting
Honestly didn't care much about The Captain in the beginning, but my respect grew for him as the NAQ continued, and he is now one of my favorite npc's. Truly, a Hero of Natlan.
He quite literally got the happiest outcome he could: he was freed from his 500 years torment, saved every single soul he had, became a hero and made sure the Abyss would never return, all while showing the biggest middle finger to the goddess who put him in that situation, we couldn't see through the mask, but i guess we can all agree: he was totally smiling at the end.
And so, we got: • Asmoday - Ruler of Space • Istaroth - Ruler of Time • Ronova - Ruler of Death so far. I wonder who Ruler of Life and Reason might be... Primordial One? Phanes? K.K.?

He is the first Fatui that caught my eye like "Man if this MF became playable im gonna give every wish i have", he is such a badass looking knight, is such a shame that apparently he will not be playable, but he did die like the chad he was, what a guy
I think the statements "He got the happy ending he deserved/worked so hard for" and players upset that he won't be playable are two things that can exist and it makes me frustrated that people automatically think you didn't understand the choice he made. I know there were a ton of players that skipped most Natlan characters because of how cool Capitano looked throughout the Archon quest (as short as his appearances were). Number 1 of all the Fatui Harbingers, he was a Khaenrian that met our sibling other than Dain, there was so much hype around him similar to Arrlechino. I kinda knew since the "Mavuika must die" plotline that he was probably going to be the one dying instead, and I'm sad because I feel there's still so much potential and unexplored story with him. All the conflict with Gosoyoth felt so whatever in comparison to those last moments with Ronova and the Lord of Night...Capitano you will always be famous
There's something I don't understand, maybe I missed it on the quest, but why would Ronova accept the deal? couldn't have she just gone _"no lmao, Mavuika dies, you have no choice over whose life I'll take"_
She's not evil, she neutral (imo even pro humanity) as she agree to help xbalannque or pryo archon by lend her power ode of resurrection. but her power require rule or pay back which is death.
This man is badass. He sacrificed himself but he's not dead. He became the Lord of the Night Kingdom and protect Natlan forever. Even Pyro archon admit that she lost that duel after she learned how much burden he was carrying. He is just taking a rest. There are a lot of businesses for him to complete, such as the Five Sinners, the final battle between whole Teyvat and the Abyss, and maybe the battle between Tsaritsa and Heavenly principle. He will come back when the time comes. I'm thrilled for his return.
Hear me out, what if Capitano returns however his immortal body is inhabited by the spirit of the Natlan hero Thrain. Much like how Guthred returned in the final battle not as his true self, but as what the stories envisioned him as. What if the same could happen to Capitano, that way, his original self can continue to rest with his comrades and not make his sacrifice meaningless and still have Capitano resurrected in the future and become playable. This may be copium however I am entitled to this theory as much as everyone else is. I do hope he becomes playable in the future. It would be such a disappointment for players and a huge loss from hoyoverse to waste such an influential character after a couple versions. He is the FIRST fatui harbinger after all we must see more of him in the future.
Ok so let me cook As we all know Dottore will burn the IRMINSUL in the future also the abyss is working on the project of ‘changing the fate” from the heart of first field tiller So as the entire Irminsul will burn in future there will be the need on new memories and fate So what if the abyss or someone else completed the project and rewind khaenri'ah to 500 years ago which will make it good place to explore It will be awesome and I thinking the story is progressing that way Fun fact: in the Shimulanka special event we got to know about changing reality with creativity it can also hint in that
Also I just had a thought. Nathan's Ley Lines are unrelated to the rest of Teyvat's governed by the Irminsul. So would the Natlanese remember about Greater Lord Rukkhadevata and Fatui Harbinger #6?
@@iziigyrx097 damn you got a point. But I think in Scara case, he would not be remembered, cause he usually work in the dark or just some important ppl can see him (his god plan only few know about it). In case of GLR, i think some ppl will know about it, but assume Natlanese ppl in Natlan can live more than 500 years is not many, with war and no other being live long enough to remember.
I did not expect to see King Arthas again in my many years of playing Genshin. That pose and a heart that can carry souls (instead of a Sword) that can be beneficial to ones strength is so badass.
If his goal was to save natlan then why did he join the fatui & how did get recruited ? Was it the jester ? Also he was fighting in natlan as Thrain & then he suddenly decides to leave natlan & go to snezhnaya ? That doesn't really make sense, they better give us an explanation about his backstory regarding how he joined the fatui & why exactly he was serving the tsaritsa when his main goal was saving natlan
the sequence of events may not be as quick as you think. during the cataclysm he fought in natlan and after absorbing the souls he went around all nations to try merging the souls with the ley lines but realised only natlan’s situation was unique and that’s where he would have the best chance. then he would’ve met pierro who probably knew him, capitano must’ve disclosed his goals and gotten himself associated with natlan and trying to get that gnosis, so he’d be in natlan as a fatui trying to get the gnosis but actually be there for his real goal
@@killuacore that's the thing I want to know like why did he join the fatui e.g Dottore join cuz they fund his research, childe joined cuz he likes fighting & his family is under favour & so on ? Capitano joining the fatui tarnished his reputation he built up as the natlan hero "Thrain" & caused more problems for him cuz nobody was trusting him in natlan, also as you said that he would've met pierro & gotten associated/stationed in natlan (with his own agenda of saving natlan which fatui don't know) then why wait for 500 years to suddenly come & challenge mavuika for the gnosis when he could've had an easier time fighting the previous pyro archon (might've even beaten them) cuz he himself said that his strength has decayed over time......
@@nk30020 your questions make sense and i don’t really have answers to them, but I think that the night kingdom wasn’t as weak in the 500 years as it was when the traveler was in Natlan. The ode of resurrection also never faced an issue like it did with Kachina’s return. I’d like to think that the captain, like Mavuika, was kinda waiting for the traveler to show up and be some form of hope at a chance.
This is truly a befitting ends for both sides, Mavuika and Capitano. Mavuika are able to live the peace life and with all the people she fought for all this time, meanwhile capitano can finally rest after all the torment of 500 years. I still can’t understand why there is some ppl said that Mavuika should be the one who died instead of capitano.
I'm not Coping here but he's not dead. His story is not yet finished, he has YET to tell us about his story, we (the Traveller) doesn't exactly know his name, Yes Mavuika "teased" his name not say that "his Name IS Thrain". She only speaks in this "could be" tone, and remarks how there was a warrior 500 years ago named Thrain and that's a very well known story in Natlan, it "COULD BE" Capitano. Though we're not sure, IN the game. We are sure that his name is Thrain, but we in the game don't get to hear it explicitly. I won't talk about the leaks but the info tht's in the game is- His stickers His Voicelines by Mavuika, Ororon, and Mika. Before you all say Signora has Voice lines, they're only and only from the Harbingers because they're here comrades (Childe, Scara, Arle) Raiden doesn't talk about her nor do Yae miko. So Capitano having voice lines by Mavuika, Ororon and Mika (maybe some more Natlan characters as well i'm not sure) but these are a dead give away he's not dead. He's not "dead" he's finally sleeping after 500 years. he's the lord of the leylines now, he's Immensly powerful and important to Fatui. His position in the Faui hasn't changed, He's still the #1, and no not out of respect. After the death of Signora the two Fatus in Mondstadt gossip about her replacement, but now they say his poition is not going to change. Tsaritsa was sent a letter by Capitano saying that he's going to execute his personal plan and that he couldn't get her the Pyro Gnosis, Tsaritsa "ALLOWED" it. I'm Sure Cpaitano says that She gives The harbingers to follow their personal goals too, and he has mentioned and emphasized it, but i think if she gives them some orders that over rule their personal goals... they WILL FOLLOW HER COMMAND, that's how much they love and respect her. but she's just a humble and kind hearted Archon that she doesn't do so. Tsaritsa and Capitano are deffo planning something especially now that he's so important in the game. HE IS NOW BASICALLY THE LORD/CREATOR OF THE LEY LINES, AND GUESS WHO IS THE BOUGH KEEPER? DAINSLAIF. we are so going to get a Dainslaif Quest where we get a Capitano and Dain interaction. Capitano's story hasn't fully end yet, we're yet to find about him. We're yet to see him and I believe in his return.
Do you mind clarifying some doubts of mine? If he does come back doesn't that mean the his soul will have to return to his body making the lord of the night a mortal again and the wars will start again? Isn't he the master of the ley lines only in natlan? I do hope we get to the see an interaction with him and dainsleif and if he won't come back then a proper farewell from dainsleif , the harbingers and the tsaritsa would be awesome. Also am I the only one who thinks that the archon quests lacked of Capitano involvement like they didn't use him at his fullest potential bro had so little screen time.
What I don't understand is why Ronova just accepted his proposal. The deal was her powers in exchange for the death of the pyro archon which Capitano is not. Ronova could just simply say no. I also still don't understand this "death". He didn't die so how was the exchange fulfilled if Ronova required death?
Actually ronova is there to only witness death of a soul of equal value of that of an archon she can't take any life herself but I do think it's contradictory ronova could've easily demanded that she only wants to witness the Pyro archon death not him so idk i feel like they just scratched it at the last minute or something
To everyone saying capitano deserves rest yes its true he does but only his soul left not the body. Remember the simulanka event? Well as you see durin got reincarnated so we can assume that his soul will get reincarnated to a new body or we could go for the other theory which the pyro sovereign will take over the body of capitano instead of capitano himself
Capitano really solved 3 problems (How to save the lord of the night - a place of resting for the wandering souls - and finally his long awaited death) with 1 solution
This is actually so related to Scaramouche being main protagonist in the Event. You see, Scara Had no Heart before and now it turned out that for Capitano's story his Heart was the most important part. That's why Scaramouche hinted to the Natlans plot even tho it turned out absolutely different: we didn't save the Dragon, but the Fatui Harbinger with his own Heart saved the whole Nation.
Wow. Just IMAGINE how long he’s waited to die. He was forced to live endlessly and always feel LOW. His entire life was TAPERed and he was forced to live on, but he found a reason to live on in freeing the souls of the dead. His legacy will never FADE away.
Rest in peace, Thrain "Capitano" Kh'aenriah. You deserve it for all the pain you've endured. Meanwhile the Fatui has just lost one of its strongest harbingers and I don't know if they can recover from that blow to their ranks...
I'm still in disbelief... I had saved for so long for him... The only solace I have is his resting place. Out of all the possible playable characters until the end of the game, Capitano was the ONLY one I wanted to pull for. None of those other characters are worth it for me, I don't want them; not even Mavuika. He was the only one. After I finished the quest, I decided to visit him once more and log off right beside him. I haven't touched the game since, and I don't think I ever will.
@theaverageplayer1656 I get ur feeling bro. I mean, I'm both La Signora and Capitano WANTERS but yea.. Luck isn't in our side.. I just lost interest of playing this game too.
Writing went to shit in Natlan imo im not coming back until it gets better. Till we get characters that are deeper and plot that isn't just good friendship vs big evil bad
damn, well cheers, its a gacha game afterall you made you bet and lost, welcome to the club, we dottore fans are used to it, you can go sit over there with what's left of signora fan, dont worry there's plenty of room after all the arle and scara fans left, it's just us here now.
@@poggeraxolotlbut natlan is different tho, the story is deeper, npcs we met and got to know died not like inazuma, some characters almost died, sumeru nobody was even remotely in danger even tho i loved the story, fontaine was really good tho, mondstadt only venti was in any danger, inazuma? raiden was the danger, liyue was the good ol power of friendship vs evil bad
@@Hhhh22222-w every playable character was incredibly basic to me npcs were good tho I will say as usual but I didnt like the main plot very much either, it was merely evil monster vs friendship I also didnt enjoy the endless mavuika glaze, the glaze for arguably the most basic, flawless character in the game especially how Capitano just got relegated to being a background character only to die at the end despite being the #1 fatui harbinger
Thanks for the explanation! The whole paradox thing vs a god was so cool during the quest but I was definitely confused lol. It feels even cooler now, like he literally beat a god at her own game. Do you think he will be featured in the story ever again? Maybe like an Interlude Act or Dains quest?
Did a sadistic analysis of 'what would happen if ronova removed the curse of immortality because clearly she can go against the wishes of the heavenly principles' aka the worst route One: capitano would die; but every single soul is once again forced to wander till they vanish which capitano sacrificed everything to prevent Two: mavuika would have to die to help the lord of the night, maintaining her destined death Three: natlan would still need to prepare and find solutions to end the war again and a new pyro archon and carries the weight of preparing for the next abyss invasion in the next few centuries I think ronova upholding the curse of immortality hints towards the meaning of this punishment. Again: she is capable and has the capacity to go behind the heavenly principles' back to basically crush capitano and grant him the worst kind of death where in the end he couldn't bring the souls back to the leylines; but it actually goes against her interests. She liked Xbalanque's plan to make natlan 'immortal' one day (I forgor the actual offer bear with me) and made the deal. Fates and destiny intertwine and the promise is fulfilled. If her goal is to punish human arrogance to challenge death: she would have stripped away the curse and watch him suffer and make the pyro archon pay up or she can finally get the promised future that she risked the ire of the H.Principles Over analysing the decision of these characters is fun. Rest well Thrain. Forever the Sentinel Knight and The Captain: no. 1 Harbinger of the Fatui
I think that Ronova has the authority to grant death, but cannot directly get over the authority of Celestia. Whatever the 5 sinners did, Celestia chose to make an example of an entire nation to the curse of immortality instead of the usual destruction Celestia would do. This curse must be like highest form of punishment from Celestia and I believe that not even Ronova could reverse that curse to grant death. The way Ronova reacted to the Captain's paradox was that she couldn't do anything about it. I think even the Captain knew he had checkmate since Celestia had absolute control over the fate of Teyvat and nothing Ronova can do about changing that rule. Her secret deal with Xblanque was definitely within the domain of death and did not directly attract Celestia's attention. Ronova most likely knows how Celestia operates and could get away with that deal if it didn't involve the abyss or messing with such knowledge. The Captain definitely won here. Just needed help from an agent of Celestia that wanted to help/understands humanity that was also dying and needed that immortality power that the Captain was selling.
multiple signs point to his resurrection including leaked code reserved for playables. he's also not dead-his body is still alive, his soul is just away in the night kingdom healing ley lines and merging with lotn (hence his new title as master of the ley lines). he'll def be back, dw.
Basically,If Capitano didn’t have all of those souls in his heart then he would’ve had his beauty rest and his skin would’ve been as beautiful as Dainsleif and Pierro.
While it sucks that Capitano won't be playable, this was the best way for his character to bow out. Form the moment he was introduced, he was all about saving Natlan, even trying to take the Gnosis from Mavuika for that goal. And in the end, he did just that. He saved Natlan and even found a way to stick it to the God of Death and grant himself and the souls of his comrades peace. He died as he lived: A soldier fighting to save his homeland to the bitter end. Sleep well, Thrain. You went out a true chad.
I genuinely want to believe that he'll come back, his story didn't feel that fleshed out to me, he literally appeared at the beginning of act 6 and only popped out at the end to save Mavuika, also the fact that The Tsaritsa choosed a guy that abandoned her plan in it's most crucial moment makes her look incompetent, they didn't even explain why or how he joined the Fatui, and his death only made me sad because i was dissapointed at how HoyoVerse wasted his character, guess Il Capitano fans are joining the Signora club.
just killed hyped characters for no long term reason. Signora and Capitano died do not change a thing about the future LOL. Such a waste. They could have just killed Mavuika and revive her LEL
I feel like it needs to be mentioned... With Ronova choosing to uphold her "rules", that means that Capitano did successfully trigger the paradox. He who was cursed with immortality is now also "dead". Whether this will have consequences as severe as they made it out to be remains to be seen, but taking this along with other clues from the closing act of the AQ seems to suggest we may not be fully through with Natlan...
Honestly I’m not even sad he’s not going to be playable. This is effect of good story telling, when a character meets a worthy end. Signora just died out of nowhere lol. Capitano deserves his respect and I respect his death. Hoyo cooked with his story but also sit fire among the capitano fan community lol. 😂
I disagree about Signora. Yes, it was rude and quick, but it deserved the Shogun's puppet story and the main story in the same time And personally, I'm glad that Venti got indirectly his revenge.
I've wanted Capitano to become playable. I've been waiting for him for soo long to be added to the game and a part of my hype for Natlan was because he was finally gonna show up but then after witnessing the final Natlan AQ, I should've really been disappointed but my case here has been the complete opposite. After getting to know Thrain and all his backstory, his struggle and that so very satisfying revenge I've just started to respect him even more and really happy that he finally got the peace he deserved. And also this was one of the best AQs in Genshin so far.

thank you for making this. throughout the quest i especially don'y understand THIS part where how is it something that ronova cannot avoid to choose? so its actually LONK is the one who chooses the sacrifice and not ronova?
it is a little sus why tsaritsa kept capitano's position as is, although it might just be out of respect for him. also, the npcs in mondstadt have new voicelines but the harbingers still have the same voiceline about capitano. but honestly, even though i really wanted him to be playable, i think its best lorewise for him to just rest now. bro needs a break fr. it was abrupt but a fitting end for a character like him. also love how most of his character was show not tell. like in inazuma, they only told us kokomi was this great master strategist but she never really did much strategizing in the AQ. but with capitano, we actually saw why people called him the ever-righteous captain
As someone who has theorized Capitano will step in to save Mavuika as a middle finger to Ronova and forcing her to face the paradox of her rule, I couldn't be much happier to see his story unfold. Nothing more badass than saying f*ck u to an unjust god and get the rest you deserve. The story of him housing souls of the unrest made it even 🥺🥺

@@OnigoroshiZero I don't think so...
It's like the storyteller said at the end of the quest: The traveller fought for the living, Capitano for the dead and Mavuika was the bridge that united both.

You will be remembered.
Actually... Ronova did not granted him death unfortunately (Yeah, I want him playable but I want his rest much more, he deserved to end his journey)
Ronova had to choose:
lift the curse and allow him to die - paying debt
or
sustain the curse - debt not payed, yet she had to accept that
She had to forsake one of her rules, death for borowing her power or curse of immortality.

Possibly a dumb question:
What was stopping Ronova from continuing with the original plan of taking Mavuika's life instead of Capitanos? Was she kinda hoping Mavuika could survive this and Thrain showed up kinda conveniently (from Ronova's perspective)? Ie. The whole "Phanes doesn't know and Ronova's trying to finish it up asap" dealio?
As Ronova herself said in the quest, it's an angel's duty to do what they can to assist humanity, and she can't interfere. The angel in question is the Lord of The night, and it was up to her to decide the one who would be sacrificed
I had the same question
If she just disagreed there would be no paradox
Maybe she just doesn't care
The rule is set even the one high above the heaven succumbed to it
She doesn't care mavuika doesn't die, she just wants someone with equal soul to die
(Though Capitano did benefit from that because Ronova had to show up to bear witness to Mavuika's original plan)
This forced Ronova to resolve the paradox real quick before the Heavenly Principles got wise to the nonsense that was happening. So basically, at this point, Mavuika's death doesn't even matter anymore, Renova had to GTFO before anyone else started looking too closely.
So technically Mavuika's death is still up in the air, but Ronova is unlikely to come back and enforce it. And she'll probably just live her normal lifespan without interference.
that's the most tragic happy ending I've seen
tragic for the wanters... happy for the lore enjoyers.
Rest in Peace Capitano, gone but not forgotten
Call it coping, but it’s strange to me that the Tsaritsa would choose her first Harbinger to be someone who abandoned her goal as fast as he did. Though we know she allows her harbingers to have autonomy, I still can’t be too convinced.
Also, every harbinger we’ve encountered so far has come in at least two nations (Dottore coming soon too as we were told). Also, even someone like Signora had a lore thought out and explained through an artifact set - I won’t even mention the truckloads of content my boy Scaramouche has about him, Childe following close after. Capitano’s story was just dumped at the end as an explanation to the sole question we had about him (that, what was his end goal in Natlan apart from the gnosis?)
I’d like to believe that his current position makes him even more valuable for future Fatui- and Tsaritsa-related plans/stories.
Though, all this aside, I hope he does rest well. 🫡
The tsaritsa is nicer than you think. She clearly acknowledges the power, honor, and bravery of capitano as well as his background in khaenriah

I won't talk about the leaks but the info tht's in the game is-
His stickers
His Voicelines by Mavuika, Ororon, and Mika.
HE IS NOW BASICALLY THE LORD/CREATOR OF THE LEY LINES,
AND GUESS WHO IS THE BOUGH KEEPER? DAINSLAIF.
we are so going to get a Dainslaif Quest where we get a Capitano and Dain interaction.
Capitano's story hasn't fully end yet, we're yet to find about him.
We're yet to see him and I believe in his return.
Look, someone who has actually read the quest.
I have no words, Thank you so so much for giving me hope!
My thoughts are same.
@@zeljkomirkovic3271 Oh please It's nothing I'm glad i could help.
Yeah but that was Dendro Archon abilities and knowledges to get The wanderer soul back to the body LOL
I don;t think Mavuika has that knowledges = Capitano is dead - not playable
I do not know how they can revive Capitano. Should have killed Mavuika and revive her instead of killing Capitano
I used to not like him, but after what endured.. that man has my full respect. Fly high Captain
Capitano really solved 3 problems (How to save the lord of the night - a place of resting for the wandering souls - and finally his long awaited death) with 1 solution
Actually 4, he saved mavuika's life as well
@piri_desu he truly is a respectable warrior
I will miss you, dear Capitano. May you rest in peace ❤
This is actually so related to Scaramouche being main protagonist in the Event. You see, Scara Had no Heart before and now it turned out that for Capitano's story his Heart was the most important part. That's why Scaramouche hinted to the Natlans plot even tho it turned out absolutely different: we didn't save the Dragon, but the Fatui Harbinger with his own Heart saved the whole Nation.
yeah but Scaramouche was a god damn robot not human with tech heart
Wow. Just IMAGINE how long he’s waited to die. He was forced to live endlessly and always feel LOW. His entire life was TAPERed and he was forced to live on, but he found a reason to live on in freeing the souls of the dead. His legacy will never FADE away.
that's why he's the goat the goat
hes so goated... one of my favorite written characters in the game
@@Hhhh22222-w every playable character was incredibly basic to me
npcs were good tho I will say as usual but I didnt like the main plot very much either, it was merely evil monster vs friendship
I also didnt enjoy the endless mavuika glaze, the glaze for arguably the most basic, flawless character in the game
especially how Capitano just got relegated to being a background character only to die at the end despite being the #1 fatui harbinger
He had a great time right away. Now, he will finish his journey as Thrain. Goodbye, Captain. May you rest in peace.
Thanks for the explanation! The whole paradox thing vs a god was so cool during the quest but I was definitely confused lol. It feels even cooler now, like he literally beat a god at her own game. Do you think he will be featured in the story ever again? Maybe like an Interlude Act or Dains quest?
R.I.P. Papitano
Capitano is a man of focus, Commitment, and Sheer Will
He's not "The Captain..." he's The King."
*"Stand Proud, Thrain (Capitano). You were strong."* 🔥👊🔥
- Mavuika, The Pyro Archon
The respect he got from everyone in Natlan was amazing and well-deserved.
@@OnigoroshiZero Truly the hero Natlan deserved
Did a sadistic analysis of 'what would happen if ronova removed the curse of immortality because clearly she can go against the wishes of the heavenly principles' aka the worst route
One: capitano would die; but every single soul is once again forced to wander till they vanish which capitano sacrificed everything to prevent
Two: mavuika would have to die to help the lord of the night, maintaining her destined death
Three: natlan would still need to prepare and find solutions to end the war again and a new pyro archon and carries the weight of preparing for the next abyss invasion in the next few centuries
I think ronova upholding the curse of immortality hints towards the meaning of this punishment.
If her goal is to punish human arrogance to challenge death: she would have stripped away the curse and watch him suffer and make the pyro archon pay up or she can finally get the promised future that she risked the ire of the H.Principles
Over analysing the decision of these characters is fun.
Guys see the ignition teaser again it all make sense that its after the aq acts completed so it's set in future
We fought for the living,he fought for the dead and I am the bridge.
That line goes fking hard.
The Strongest is always the kindest...
After 500yrs of no sleep, man finally got what he wanted.
multiple signs point to his resurrection including leaked code reserved for playables. he's also not dead-his body is still alive, his soul is just away in the night kingdom healing ley lines and merging with lotn (hence his new title as master of the ley lines). he'll def be back, dw.
He's now forever with the gentle embrace and companion of an Angel, the lord of the night. Such a lucky guy!! You deserve it Giga chad
The Captain cooked the biggest middle finger flip of all time
5:02, this hits hard!!
I have a strong feeling the Tsaritsa shed yet another tear for her beloved no.1 harbinger.
Such honourable soul The Captain is. Endured 500 years of agony all for the sake of his brethren whom he knows don’t deserve to be punished. ❤❤❤❤
And long may they rot.
Nah, he's becoming playable
If Il Capitano doesen't come back the r/fatuihq will march to Hoyo's Headquarters with guns in hand.
just killed hyped characters for no long term reason. Signora and Capitano died do not change a thing about the future LOL. Such a waste. They could have just killed Mavuika and revive her LEL
@HapPawhere Oh but please, tell us again about Hoyoverse are greedy pigs.
I think they take inspiration from Van Hohenheim (FMA) and I think it was ok.
the way hoyo made capitano sits on the throne reminds me of Arthas Menethil
Honestly I’m not even sad he’s not going to be playable. This is effect of good story telling, when a character meets a worthy end. Signora just died out of nowhere lol. Capitano deserves his respect and I respect his death. Hoyo cooked with his story but also sit fire among the capitano fan community lol. 😂
I disagree about Signora.
Yes, it was rude and quick, but it deserved the Shogun's puppet story and the main story in the same time
And personally, I'm glad that Venti got indirectly his revenge.
Capitano is the real pyro archon all along honestly
That dreaded feeling when i realise no one can handle the other harbinger now specially Dottore. Yeah,we gonna eat good on future arc.
Our classic pure evil villain... cant wait to see him in action again
If Capitano really is dead and the Tsarita refused to Remove his Title as the First of the Fatui harbinger
Just goes to show how much of a Chad Capitano is
MAY YOU REST WITH YOUR TROOPS THRAIN OUR SENTINEL KNIGHT
thank you for making this. throughout the quest i especially don'y understand THIS part where how is it something that ronova cannot avoid to choose?
so its actually LONK is the one who chooses the sacrifice and not ronova?
Yes, it seems Ronova is there to observe, and grant LONK's wish.
it is a little sus why tsaritsa kept capitano's position as is, although it might just be out of respect for him. also, the npcs in mondstadt have new voicelines but the harbingers still have the same voiceline about capitano. but honestly, even though i really wanted him to be playable, i think its best lorewise for him to just rest now. bro needs a break fr. it was abrupt but a fitting end for a character like him. also love how most of his character was show not tell. like in inazuma, they only told us kokomi was this great master strategist but she never really did much strategizing in the AQ. but with capitano, we actually saw why people called him the ever-righteous captain
