    This will only work with a US spec bike, other region models like EU/OZ have that spark arrestor/baffle thing welded in place and is not removable without cutting the pipe open and welding it closed again.

    Great video. It does sound nice. Like you said not to loud. I personally don't care much for a loud pipe. One of many issues that I have with a stock pipe is how heavy they are. It's the first thing that I change on any of my bikes. Ride safe 🤙

    Great mod for nothing on the bike. Here in Kentucky ain’t got no laws like that to worry about. This is better than just taking the slip on off. Thanks for sharing.

    Id just get a piece of screen and safety wire it over the end in the pipe. Instant spark arrestor

  • @airadaimagery692
    @airadaimagery692 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Instead of removing it completely, I just drilled out the chamber, which provides better airflow, so it actually improves the performance as well. and than I added a piece of screen so that if I’m ever checked I’ll pass inspection. you can do an air box mod it sounds even better. In addition to the stock improved ECU reflash, the bikes power delivery is substantially smoother. It’s like an entirely different bike in every positive way. And it only cost $170. The bike runs cooler, it sounds better, and it has a smoother, more aggressive throttle response, which can be achieved by Optimizing power management.

    • @airadaimagery692
      @airadaimagery692 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@claudeleticiacharronneaueh781sorry I just saw this. For $20 you can by an air box mod kit from crf’s only. They also sell an air box velocity stack for an additional $20. I ended up doing both. Also I removed the metal screen on the stock air filter. That thing restricts airflow as well. And it’s obvious that it’s not needed because most aftermarket air filters don’t have them either.

    Do you think this mod would qualify as a “high flow” exhaust regarding the 550 stage 1 ECU?
    I’ve done the exhaust mod and I added three UNI vents on the air box door and removed the snorkel. This improved the bikes performance considerably.
    I want to try the stage 1 ECU next.
    The intake, block off plate and Yosh exhaust are too risky to install right now.

    Spark arresters were first used on Jupiter locomotives, in the early 1800’s, which were notorious for starting fires.
    In the early 1950’s it was on donkey engines used in logging.
    In 1968 the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in conjunction with the USDA Forest Service and small-engine manufacturers published the SAE Standard J335. It set the standard for small engines (chain saws, string trimmers, etc.)
    So spark arresters benefit government and not much else.

      Used a cut off wheel to cut them off flush , then used an angle grinder with 180grit pad to smooth it down, then a couple coats of primer & some high temp bbq paint. There are some small depressions in areas of the welds that were ground off. The depressions aren’t from me grinding, they were done at factory.

    Hi. On a CRF230F, I removed the whole thing. What is your opinion on removing the whole thing on the 300L and what implications would it have on the running of the engine? Thanks.

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not a expert on that, but the 230 is carbureted, so it may require rejetting. Removing completely, would basically be like putting on an aftermarket exhaust.

    I hope that nobody does this mod. I don't like stock pipes and am always looking for something lighter. And the stockers are a titch too restricted and quiet. But getting rid of the spark arrestor is going too far. In medicine there is an old cliche' or axiom that says: "first do no harm". That seems apropos to performing unnecessary surgery to remove a spark arrestor. Otherwise, I usually enjoy KC's videos.

    • @NeoMK
      @NeoMK 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Agreed, this does not make the bike "off road only" it makes it "forestry illegal" and if you're caught without one you're looking at serious federal charges! Serious! Don't do this!

    Even the Yoshi exhaust states you need a spark arrestor for national forests but they also say you can't run it full time or you'll "cause the muffler to retain too much heat, leading to damage." This is a terrible idea.

    • @airadaimagery692
      @airadaimagery692 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it’s not. Several of us have been running with open spark arrestors on the 300 for years with zero issues. The muffler actually gets hotter when the exhaust is trapped inside for a longer period of time, which is what is happening with the extra parts inside. Get your advice from aftermarket parts companies, or take advice from people in real life situations who have been riding/racing/modding bikes for 40+ years. That’s up to you.

    • @DarrellHassler-r3n
      @DarrellHassler-r3n ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@airadaimagery692 I'm not sure what you mean. You stated that the exhaust gets hotter when it's trapped inside so you run an 'open spark arrestor' but doesn't that mean you're bypassing the spark arrestor so it doesn't get as hot inside? I simply stated that running a spark arrestor traps gases in a little longer and causes heat to build up. Didn't we just say the same thing?

    You’ve just made your bike illegal on any public trail system. Here in WI, and up the road in MI, it’s also a huge fine. Not to mention a bad look for us as a demographic as a whole. I hope those watching are smart enough to realize that and move on.
    I know the lure of the Click is a powerful drug these days, but I for one would like to see this taken down. If you truly supported the sport, you would agree.
