As a young black teen going into adulthood soon, I've been trying to figure out what is good for my hair, what will affect my hair and teaching myself how to do my hair so thank you because your videos really help me and inspire me to keep trying even if my hairstyle doesn't come out right the first time🤗❤❤❤ keep it up girl!!!
For me it's kinda weird cus I'm mixed but I have no idea what type my hair is, it used to be super curly, but now I have to use product to make it curly, and I have type 4 I think
Porosity always confused me, thank you for the break down!! I did notice my hair soaks up anything like it’s thirsty. When I use to relax my hair, every stylist would mention that they put down a lot more relaxer than what they see when they go back to a section they worked on first. Even with water/products but the next day it’ll be dry. I’ve been working in applying products to help seal in the moisture, like certain oils.
It took me about 2 years to realize that I need to apply different amounts of product in my hair depending on the section. My front bang/edges area and some in the front/sides are high porosity. It’s typically close to dry within 2-3 minutes. The back of my hair is low porosity and takes FOREVER to dry, especially the back/crown area.
My hair is so thick, it takes 10 min to part a straight part and after soaking it with water, I step away from the flow of water and Lord, it swells back up immediately 😅. It’s gotten much more thicker since following this channel. Thanks BJ❤
Man, I thought I just had moderate hair thicknesses, but when I did the strand test, I realized how dark and thick my hair really was! Thank you for this video! It really helped! ~u~/"
I think i have type 4, high porosity, high density, medium thick hair. I used to be so obsessed with the abc delineations but ever since i started wearing mini twists, wash & go's, and stopped doing "low manipulation styles" or "protective styles" with added hair, my hair started growing and I didnt care anymore about what people with 4 a, b, or c hair had to say anymore. I just watch for enjoyment now😂
I have type 4-C hair and I wear my hair natural and I wear my wigs and weaves. I do what I want and I do not let my hair type be my entire personality nor let it dictate my statue in this world.
I have lived most of my life with "poofy" straight hair. After doing reserach online, I found out that I have wavy hair and that with proper care, they could be better defined. I now do a simple routine with a lightweight leave in and mousse and am proud of my 2a/2b waves. I love the natural hair movement and how it is empowering all curl types to lean into their natural hair.
so glad i found your TT and it brought me here. started my hair journey a year ago i really want to do my best to protect it amd grow it as best as possible
This was very helpful. So I have 4a,b,c medium porosity hair with medium density and fine strands. (Though I always thought that the ponytail test was for density, not the thickness of each individual strand.)
I’d love for people to do more of the first few listed than finding out two letters. Some say there’s a better way than the curl type system mentioned.
in kindergarten i used to get made fun of because i had 4c hair and people stuck pencils in it and i wouldn't notice, then i got tired of the bullying and got it straightened. i really want to show off my nature hair but i'm to afraid i will get made fun of for it. should i change it up and go on my own hair journey to grow it out and let if be healthy? (btw im an 8th grader)
you should! don’t listen to others that bully you because of your hair, its beautiful and there’s many people out there who love it and would love to have hair like yours. it might take a lot of time and money to revive your hair, but it’s gonna be worth it in the end ❤❤
I definitely support a natural hair journey! You were bullied because your hair is unique and special. Embrace it. People are becoming less ignorant now and will love your hair
Regardless of how you wear your hair, be confident in who you are. People will always have something to say. You are unique and beautiful; be who you are unapologetically. 👑
For me, I also have around 4C hair. People are going to make fun of you, no matter what you do. There is always going to be something you’re going to get bullied because of. You just have to learn how to ignore it and focus on your own opinion. This was hard for me because I always listen to other people, and often really think about what they say. I’ve always cared of others opinion, you just have to figure out your beautiful and there is always going to be haters.
this is a GOOD explainer vid! Im a Mexican & white Mom of my daughter who is Black on her Dad's side and all his fam is on the other side of the country so Im learning all this hair care stuff by my self. My 1a @ss trying to care for my baby's 3a-4a situation lol
I feel like the porosity is pretty easy to determine when you have low porosity. It takes awhile for my hair to get wet every single time I wash it and if I don’t dry it all the way and put it up, it will still be wet hours later.
Just watching some of your shorts gurllllllll!!!!!! Gorgeous beautiful tress!!!!! Love LOVE love love our AFRO!!!!!! STYLISH TRESS!!! ROCK YO TRESS!!!!! IM 4 B 4 C 😊
Your Hair is So Pretty 🔥 i have 3 hair types in my hair its loose curls in the back the front is straight and i have some coily hair close to the root area this was really helpful 😊 Thank you 💙💕i have high porosity hair also how can i train my curls without finger coiling ?
I still don't know which porosity I have😭 my hair soaks up water rlly fast but takes a medium amount of time to dry and I feel no resistance on my strand of hair💀
So I think my hair type is 3a/b with high porosity, high density, and medium thickness. (The profile picture is kinda old and I straightened my hair back then
The only way I can see this occurring is if your hair only _appeared_ to be a certain hair type because it was never cared for, so for instance always dry, never moisturized, hard water build up on strands. Then when clarified, moisturized, you then see what it actually was- the actual hair type. But the hair type starts from within the scalp, the shape of the opening, so what you do after it emerges from the scalp only alters it's appearance, but not the actual type. 😉
I know I'm high porosity, and my hair dries really fast, As for my hair the strands are bumpy but that may be due to damage, As for hair type that's where I'm struggling. I used to have very very thick hair but my hairdresser texturized it to make it easier to do, That was around 2020/2021ish and now I don't know where it is. It's always been dry but not to this extent, now no matter how much Oil or product I use my scalp is always dry and flakey. My hairdresser has been strighting my hair since 2019 until recently. I've been doing my best to grow it out but it keeps getting damaged or breaking off when I wash it. I've been wanting to do more natural styles like twists etc. Any tips on how to deal with really bad cases of dry scalp? I did notice when I went overseas my scalp was less dry and itchy and the moment I got back to Canada my scalp dried up.
Omg how do you get your hair like that. Because if I try to do my hair like that when it drys it just goes really frizzy and sometimes I just want more defined curls. 😊
🔥 vid ,very informational I assume I have medium to low porosity hair I took a strand after a wash ,hair still somewhat wet and put it in a glass of water and it floated
Hi, can you make another hair paint video, I LOVED the black and white one. Also, people shouldn’t be asking you to cut of you hair. It’s wrong. And do you wear make up? Or have an amazing skin care routine?
i love my hair, but it's so thick and heavy i have an undercut on both sides and thin out the back just to take some weight off my head. it's also low porosity and my scalp over produces oil, so that's super fun to take care of lol
Hi new to your content I was wonder I have curly hair not the same as yours does a bonnet work for all curly hair types I just got a perm for the first time and I wanted to protect it while sleeping

When she has a full brushed out afro, she looks like “ Garnet ” from “ Steven Universe ” 👌💖
I’d love for people to do more of the first few listed than finding out two letters. Some say there’s a better way than the curl type system mentioned.
Like there’s just way too many variations of hair especially on black people.
But this is a very helpful since people generally just know this system only.

People are ignorant, and you shouldn't let those people affect your confidence or what you do with your hair. If you want to go natural do it.
you should! don’t listen to others that bully you because of your hair, its beautiful and there’s many people out there who love it and would love to have hair like yours. it might take a lot of time and money to revive your hair, but it’s gonna be worth it in the end ❤❤

Hi. Have you ever heard of the lois hair typing system? I think it's the most accurate and least confusing
So I think my hair type is 3a/b with high porosity, high density, and medium thickness. (The profile picture is kinda old and I straightened my hair back then
You have curly hair whic is not afro after 3 c hair it goes in to afro state and you need black parents or mıxed parents to get or be extream lucky
Thank u ❤ love this video
Thank you so much this helped alot lol😭😭😭
