Thanks Paul.. we all hate to see things disappear that we grew up with.. They call it progress.. but I doubt there is anything progressive about it,, Cheers
pyrofella my fondest memory was when I went to the 50th birthday party at the Elizabeth factory, but then there were those family days as well, got shit gifts but those days when I was a little kid were brilliant.
I spent 10 of the happiest working years of my life working at the Holdens Elizabeth plant, in the bodyshop as a leading hand from 1987 till 1997. loved every minute of my time there and was devastated when I heard they were going to close it down back in 2017. Australia will never be the same now, and its sad to see.
Heard this just the other day when he performed at the "Care Outreach" Bush Bash at Mungalala (West of Mitchell and near Charleville Qld). Great performer - Great Songs.
Just this last week or so since Holdens closed I've been missing my FJ I had back in the 80's so much there's even been few tears shed. if I ever get the chance to own another one (and it could only be an FJ ) I'll never ever sell it.damn it GM..why did you do this?
@DEANO814 Good luck with that quest.... they would be pretty rare to find today...most of them were used as trade or service vehicles and generally had a hard and short life... The van I "doctored" in the picture was actually fully restored.. (not by me)...I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road......Cheers
Although not as old as an FC, my first "real" car was an HQ. Have also owned an HX, an HZ, an HT, a bitzer of an HZ/WB one tonner, and my present car is a VN Commodore wagon. Coincidently, most have been about the same age when I bought them; 20 years old. Even the present one was 19 years old when I got it, and has it's silver anniversary in August
@catey62 Not a problem - I love the song - I had a lot of fun "beating up" that picture - the car in the picture was actually completely restored - A pretty rare car these days--- Cheers
@huppypuppy Thanks for the info....will do....I really like Kedron's style... the song "Inner City Suburbs 4.W.D Association" sounds pretty good....Cheers
Sad day for Australia as a whole, thanks Holden for the awesome memories.
