      It’s finished and going in a quilt show in September. However, I have several leftover 🧵blocks and am going to make a small one, 4 spools, for a mini wall quilt with no sashing. I have saved my very favorite selvedges for that one.

    I love this idea. in the past I thought keeping selvages was silly. Now I want to go and cut all of my fabric. I 'm thinking I would make different size spools and play with the design. I could make wall hangings for my sewing friends. (Great another project or my list. LOL)

    Sashing first choice. Maybe can float blocks on the back!!! Maybe around your label... & certainly make 1 or 2 pillows ....then a tote bag for dry goods @ grocery store....
    Maybe the back & inside back on a project bag... great ideas for keeper quilt blocks!!!

    Love! Love! Love! I would put rows of sashing across to suggest shelves. On the top shelves all the spools are evenly spaced, nice and neat. Then the bottom shelves are Hazel's arrangement, some scooted close together, a couple knocked over on the side, just the way she would sort them.

    A low volume white would give you separation, but not take away from each unique spool. This is exactly what I have been waiting for! I've collected selvedges for a few years now, but other than a pin cushion haven't seen anything that made me excited to use them. This it! And my first time watching your video....I believe that's what I will be listening to in my sewing room today...more Sister Chicks Quilting episodes! Thank you for the pattern link!

    Love the block. Have seen selvedge projects for years and this is the cutest. I would float them all in white so each one stands out for what it is and tie it together with a colourful border. I would also not make a bed quilt out or throw of them because they are so interesting. 6-9 blocks in a wall hanging for a sewing room. Might even follow a colour wheel flow. I could even see embellished-embroidered needle and thread winding in between them on completed top prior to quilting. Lovely project! As you said, these selvedges are to be admired and appreciated for what they are. I would not draw attention away from them.

    I know that I am too late to vote, but I want to tell you that I don't typically like fabrics with sewing tools printed on them. I was very surprised that I wanted to make at least a wall hanging for my sewing room using savages that look like spools. I just started to save selvages and initially only have words but before I saw your video, I decided to cut them with at least 1/2" fabric. I can't wait to get enough to make at least 6 to 9 spool blocks. Thanks for the great idea, tips and free pattern!

    I kinda like the sashing. The spools look to be sitting on a little shelf

      Because you’ve missed out on all those selvedges?😂? They add up fast, especially if you ask your friends to save for you. Just don’t show them the quilt😂😜😂
      Thank you for watching my videos, I appreciate you 😍❣️

    Love the block and would choose the floating layout. Can't wait to see the finished quilt!!

    No sashing and letting your blocks float doesn’t take away from your cute spools! Love your ideas!❤️

  • @yvettewebb3904
    @yvettewebb3904 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I would lay them out with more white background blocks in a way that makes them look like they've been stacked (like I used to do as a kid) and probably set one on an angle and a couple on their side. Just playing around with the whole picture. You've inspired me to start saving my selvages 😁
