I love how Caoimhe's player plays her, especially when she logically calls out some of the others **cough*metrion*cough*Aerthrandir*cough** for their meta gaming in character 😆 I will give it to Metrion though, when he's logically called out, he owns up to it and says "you're right" 😁
"the dumbwaiter's not gonna kill us if we look at it funny" speak for yourself, my party spent an hour investigating that dumbwaiter until it threatened to kill us
At the end of last episode, I was screaming for Aerie to long rest before the episode ended, because I was afraid he'd forget in the next episode. Now I'm watching him running around at half health and I'm like "Aerie, no! You need that health, you keep going to 0 hp."
I found the pace of episode 2 to be a bit TOO slow. Just a personal thing I'm sure. I still loved it. Episode 3 nailed it. Loved it when Lil stood up and took charge. This is my favourite rpg stream on the internet.
Agreed; setting it to 1.5-1.75 speed makes it progress a bit faster. Makes them sound a little more... urgent/frantic too :p They're trying to anti-metagame so hard.
Lilissen taking charge is so epic! Anyone can make an anxious, careful character, but it takes real skill to turn that trait into a defining moment of badass.
@@noravalio Fair enough but that is an exceptionally long time for the amount of content in death house. Took my party about a year (50 6hr session to do the whole campaign)
How does this show doesn't have much more comments! Absolutely in love with characters in a way that I don't like some personally but it's hard to dismiss then, just captivating!
Great atmosphere and role-playing! I regret so much about how I ran my CoS game. Dragna, question, how did you keep the player’s character class a secret while not doubling up in a single class? I’m stealing that!
Glad you're enjoying! It took a good amount of gentle nudging - the players submitted 4-6 character concepts each, and I tried to guide them each to a unique role. I think it worked out really well!
SPOILER COMMENT! I realize I'm a year late, but may I ask why you didn't auto-reveal the stairs down to the basement? Am I missing something? Because in the campaign book says that if you discover Strahd's note, or do something weird in the children's bedroom, the house reveals the stairs automatically. I'm going to be running this campaign, so I would love an explination!
I'm over a year late replying to you and I'm sure you've forgotten this, but the module says: 'Once the house wills the secret door into existence, characters find it automatically if they search the wall' I don't think the character searched the wall.
So maybe a noob question here, but how can you get a perception check lower than your passive perception? Even if you are actively looking for something wouldnt your passive perception still be "active"? The only thing i didnt like in this episode is toward the end. Randi and amity just knew there was an possession. It would have been nice to know where this character knowledge was comimg from. From the outside looking in, it looked like meta gaming.
probably it is in their character backstories. they are bibliophiles and well-versed with lore. when methrion behaved strangely after they saw thorn entered methrion's body it is very obvious that a possession occured in front of them.
Passive perception is different than perception. With passive perception, you're not actively looking for something, as you do with perception checks. Passive perception is more like, something you'd catch out the corner of your eye. Your characters perception score is different than your passive perception score.
@admiralblackbeard7318 The designers have explained this before, but passive checks were intended to be more of a skill floor in the sense of your Passive Perception would pick up on any detail a perception check would reveal if the DC is equal to or lower than your passive- no check required. So even though you can roll lower than your passive perception, it's intended to mean not requiring a roll at all. That said, I tend to treat it as if the DC is equal to your passive, meets it beats it in favor of the DC. So your passive needs to be one higher than the DC, to encourage active rolling rather than relying on passives. It also makes Relaible Talent functional.
"That 'Strahd' guy - maybe he's got something to do with this."
Understatement of a century, Metrion.

This is quickly becoming my favourite campaign to watch, to date.
Guys, get yourself a girl who looks at you the way Lilissen looks at books.
2:33:58 "They're dead what are they gonna do?" Famous last words from Metrion 💀
I love how Caoimhe was so gentle with Rose and Thorn and it paid off. She's definitely my favorite so far.
Mine too
Oh man they were struggling so hard not to metagame when looking for the door to the shaft lol.
Party full of elves, and nobody can roll perception
What a session. I pray I'll be able to run a game this good one day.
This is absolutely the highlight of my week right now. The roleplay? the atmosphere? *chef kiss*
“They’re owed a fucking house fire” Metrion.

I agree, i'm loving it but 12 hours in and we're still in the upper floors of death house? Wowza

@@robpetri5996 When I ran death house it took my party at least 4-5, 3-4 hour sessions to get to the basement then get murdered by the shambling mound

"The ghost of a librarian sends like one you could talk to." Um, Ghostbusters lol
This is great, but it definitely inspired a new house rule for me: No s*icidal characters.

One of the best game a ever saw. It was a great pleasure to watch this masterpiece. Too sad that i can press like only once.
Oh man finally, I was hanging out for the next episode
This is so good

wow, they had really bad luck with rolls this time
It happens! Hopefully they'll have better luck next time.
@@DragnaCarta I hope so! Although the poor luck does add to the idea of hopelessness in a gothic horror setting.
Online dice rollers are actually programmed to roll low more often than not
As I watched this it suddenly struck me that Amity and Truffle are a total easter egg. Well played.
Is it me or does Aerthrandir sound like Mr.Rodgers?
Is it a secret about her not being touched by someone or am I missing a part of the information

Where is the cleric
what's a cleric
At 1:41:04 in the fireside chat he says another content creators name. Trusty p something. Amy idea what he says?
Trusty Peaches
Is Aerthrandir the guy from RagnarRox?
Wow I am early
i hate the character Amity. emphasis on the word "character," the player is doing a wonderful job. she is indecisive and always contradicts herself.
