Totally love the way you teach this 😊 I got some different instructions for some parts but it's still quite helpful for the martelé. Thank you ❤

Excellent. Thank you. Perhaps you might do some tutorials on other Mazas etudes. Of all studies leading to Kreisler , the Mazas etudes seem to me the ones most often transcending technical issues to reach genuinely high musical quality. Number 2 here is a good case in point.

Thank you! Those are my thoughts exactly. Mazas was a very good composer and by putting the technique into a musical context his etudes bridge the gap between studies and repertoire. I will be doing no.3 next which is also a very nice piece.

Excellent! Coming week I will study this etude again, following this video. Looking forward to your next videos; hopefully you make a course of this, and pick the best bowing etudes from Rode, Wohlfahrt, Kreutzer, Mazas and Dont. One etude every two weeks would be a perfect rhythm for studying them.

Thank you! This is a very good etude to study, I learned a lot when I was preparing the video. I will be doing more Mazas etudes because they are such nice pieces and excellent for bow technique. I am glad my video has inspired you to study this etude again.

Hallo! I am answering a comment which for some reason does not show up in this comment thread. The question was how to identify the use of martele. Martele is ususally indicated with a dot on top of the note. Same as spiccato. It is the character, speed, context and sometimes knowledge of tradition which tells us whether to play martele or spiccato.
The other question was about fingerings for diminished 7th chords. The book that could help you best is probably the Flesch Scale System. There are several fingering combinations for diminished chords there.

Sorry to comment-bomb your videos this week. By coincidence I've been fingering Mazas 3 this month.
--Is there a way to identify when the martele stroke is musically appropriate (by marking or character)?
--Is there a book that shows the pattern of fingering diminshed and dimished 7th arpeggios in positions 1,2,3 (without using open strings)?

Yes, I know. There is quite a difference in editions. You can't really go wrong in choosing which technique to use. Both sound good.
