If anyone is watching, I got into BU class of 2025 (marine science) with a 25 on my ACT. You can do it people, standardized tests dont mean anything!! What matters is your essay(s) and your committment to your field, and your ability to communicate that. Be personal and put your heart on those essays, don't say basic stuff that anyone can look up on the internet, be yourself and tell your story!
@@deahnnabrown6433 I am an avid sailor and did plenty of time on the water, mostly offshore regattas. Nothing science related though. I also taught sailing to special needs kids one summer. All things that kinda have to do with my field but that also don’t necessarily relate 100% to marine science. I really think what truly matters is who you are and your ability to showcase it in a college application.
This is great advice! Looking back, I can say with full confidence that a demonstrated passion and commitment to whatever you want to do goes so much farther than grades/test scores. Thanks!
Hey! Boston University is literally my dream and I also want to go into marine biology. I really want to become a marine biologist and am thinking about majoring in Ecology and Conservation Biology with a minor in marine science/biology. Do you think that's a good plan? Also, for my personal essay I want to write as if it's a letter to my past self. Also, I wasn't really sure what I would write for my supplemental essay "Why BU?" but after watching your video, I am 100% sure that the one reason I really want to go there is for their marine program as well.
I think that’s a great plan! I know a lot of people who are ECB majors and minoring in marine science. The two majors blend really well. Yes BU is really expensive and seems to only be going up so that is something to seriously consider when choosing a school. Make sure to apply for scholarships and financial aid if you’re eligible. Thank you for watching my video and I wish you the best of luck!
What are the schools you applied to because I want to major and minor in the same thing and BU is my top school but I want to apply to as many as I can
Hi! I applied to 8 schools: Boston University, Northeastern University, University of Massachusetts Boston, Cornell University, Hawaii Pacific University, University of New Hampshire, Spelman College, and Suffolk University. Most of these schools have great marine programs (I forgot to mention this in the video but I did a summer program at Shoals Marine Lab which is why I wanted to go to Cornell or UNH). There are plenty of other schools that also have great marine programs that I didn't apply to like Duke University and University of Washington. I hope you find what school works best for you. Good luck!
@@mahirsikder5226 Hi! I got into all of them except for Cornell. Cornell gave me guaranteed transfer which basically meant i could do my first year elsewhere and if my gpa was above a 3.5 I would be guaranteed a spot if I wanted to transfer to Cornell, but I decided not to because it was not one of my top choice schools anyway!
Hello! I'm not 100% sure what the current standards for admissions are but I found this online. You can always email the admissions office if you have more specific questions! www.prepscholar.com/sat/s/colleges/Boston-University-admission-requirements
