Mozart had quite a touch for amazing 2nd movements of Concerti. This is a truly fine, and massively underrated example. That passage at 1:17 and the tutti that follows (repeated 3 times during the movt.) are enough to make any grown man cry.
I think is part of his interpretation. Because Patrick Gallois make "diferent mistakes" in the melody. Maybe they're improvising into their melodic lines to sound them more interesting. 💁
You can still get ones second hand in the UK from some of the older makers like Rudall Carte ..I have two lovely old Radcliff models and they have lovely tone and key mechanisms better than my modern good metal Boehm

Original Flute? It's just a wooden flute. It's built like current modern flutes, just made in Grenadilla Wood. To get a "woody" sound on the metal flute is all about how you "color" the sound.

Played on a Lopatin flute! I see those square tone holes!
Actually, it's an Abell flute (watch at the silver around the wood under the low D key. Mr. Abell made a customised key work for Mr. Gallois.
I was just on the Lopatin site and there were no wood flutes or heads mentiomed. Yup it's an Abell.

This is an Abell Wooden flute, custom square keys.
It is an Abell flute but the square keys were just something "special" for him :)

this flute had just squared tone holes, the embouchure is just the normal circle. Unfortunately, this instrument no longer exists
