The oboe is a gorgeous instrument which becomes sublime, almost divine, when given to the care of a master like Mozart. Only 21 when he wrote this masterpiece. Amazing achievement!
There once was a man named Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Physically, he lived a mere 35 years. He lived on through his beautiful music for 226 years more and counting.
I have listened to Mozart's Oboe Concerto countless times. Every time I listen to it, I marveled at how Mozart could complete such an elegant and beautiful masterpiece. It must be he got a gift from the God otherwise! ❤ 🌹 🌹
True. Mozart just draws EVERYONE in. Chopin and Tchaikovsky are my favorite too but Mozart is just for everybody. His music is SEEMINGLY light and easy but once you try playing it, GAAAAAAH!!!! So intense and complex, but the music you produce makes people float. Shame he had to die at 35!! Imagine what he could produce at age 50 or 60..
Daaaamn, what a long name. I can sum my name up in three words: Franz Joseph Liszt. But, daaaaaamn. You gotta sum it up in five words? DAAAAAAAAAAAMN. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. That's awesome.
Mozart is the only music I never get tired of hearing. Every modern musician of every gentre I ever liked, or at one time was among my favorites I've outrown or I get tired of listening to eventually. Not Mozart. Mozart music ever moves me, often to tears, even after I've heard the same music for decades. It ever sounds extraordinary. Mozart is my primary music teacher as well as C.P.E. Bach. I let the best music in the world inform me about how to write music. Mozart Lesson #1: Spare no expense when it comes to stretching the 'imagination' beyond limit. There is no such thing as 'too much' musical material that can be packed into one song. There is no simplicity for simplicity sake. This is not pop music. This is extraordinary music that moves the soul. There are no limits. It can't just be okay. Mozart shows us that musical ideas have universes of possibility off the charts beyond what most people would be satified to settle with. Truly great music captures the heart. No one does that better than Mozart and that's why we adore him like no other.
I am neither a musician nor a scholar but this music only evokes joy and worship in me. And I thank The Lord For the goodness expressed in this heavenly music and Mozart for fulfilling his noble life in musical perfection.. And you for preserving our joy through this posting, I cherish you. Thank you.
The oboe is such an enigmatic instrument - I wish there was much more available! The Baroque contains a proportionally greater amount, but the Classical was able to use the 'new instrument' - the Clarinet (which is also a delight to hear). Even so, the resonance of the Oboe's sound (rather reminiscent of the human voice) is captivatingly appealing to me. This particular piece is achingly beautiful in itself. Many thanks, "Am4s3usMOz4rt", for posting it here, on TH-cam.
I completely agree, he is a genius, it is because he still lives on with his music. That part is one of the most uplifting phrases of music I've heard.
My late husband was a professional oboist and he had a lung collapse and had to quit playing professionally. Very sad. It does happen to people. He never gave up his previous oboe and would play occasionally and taught as well.
Oh wow, that is a really severe story and I am sorry to hear it. My understanding is that the oboe, unlike the flute, doesn't require a lot of air, but this causes its own problems because the player still needs to exhale. It also takes a lot of effort to control the sound and, I think, a lot of air pressure.
On a semi unrelated note, the principle oboe of the San Francisco Symphony died on stage while playing the Strauss concerto from a heart condition. That is one of the most challenging pieces in our repertoire because of its huge first phrase with no appropriate places to breathe. Although he didn't die of a lung condition, that strain certainly couldn't have helped.
Mozart, being my favorite composer, is constantly played in my home...However, I have heard almost every single piece, except this oboe concerto I have skipped over many times considering the oboe unworthy of a solo concerto. Ofcourse old Wolfie proved me wrong and I love it. Especially the Adagio non troppo, which is beautiful. I still think his greatest slow movement is the andante from the Horn concerto #4. Amazing!
Excelente
His compositions are filled with wonder.. yes, classical music (especially Saint Saens, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky) are filled with that dreamy-magical energy, but Mozart's music is like purifying your dark and damaged soul--- cleansing it. I dont know what kind of man he WAS but he must be very fun and light. What he has is serious talent, combined with his ability to not take music seriously, instead magically... like that?
extraordinarily nice tone from the soloist - reedy, sweet, rich, with a good range of dynamics - from lyrical and sweet to loud and brassy, almost like a bagpipe chanter at times. Must use fairly hard reeds and have powerful lungs to have such reserves of power and volume. To say nothing of the circular breathing required for some of the longer passages. I'm very impressed!
Thanks! You are right, I should! My comment was removed because of too many negative votes! Glad to see that someone came up with the answer: Heinz Holliger and Academy of St.Martin in the Fields/Neville Marriner. I do believe it is important that they receive credit!

'Me Before You' brought me here.......after sobbing in the cinema, just had to come home and listen to this in all its glory......Mozart = perfection

@@_.Sir_Isaac_Newton._ From 1756 (the year Mozart was born) to 2020 is a total of 264 years, not 293 years.
i must have listened to this a million times but at each time i still get amazed by the oboe solo
0:06 - I. Allegro aperto
6:56 - II. Adagio non troppo
14:21- III. Rondo (Allegretto)
+James, thank you for the cues. Sometimes we want to go straight to a favorite movement.

Played this for my senior recital in college back in 1979. Brings back memories. Love this one.
Thank you for sharing the memory with us.
Such wonderfulness. The beauty of this makes you forget everything else.
Mozart is my drug. I'm addicted to it and it makes me high.
If you want to get high, listen to Scriabin.

lucas matthews Mozart and Bach are my drugs
Perfect! That is all. Mozart is fantastic!!! The best of the best.

Freaksonof Bitch It's very special, isn't it? A very challenging instrument to master and not many people do master it.
It's eternal music, what more can one say?
2:50 perfection of music at its finest :-) Thank you Mozart!
The soloist is Heinz Holliger; orchestra is most probably the Bamberger Symphoniker, conducted by Peter Maag. The year of recording is thus 1966.
whuuttt 1966 :oo !! the quality of this audio is really good!!!
I wish mozart composed more oboe music. :(
+Ethan Martin Me , too but he already isn't here . His amazing masterpieces always remember us his great genius .
+Ethan Martin He wrote a lot of wind chamber music, if that's any consolation
+Ethan Martin, Mozart composed about 600 works. so is a lot music to hear.
Ethan Martin I think he must have wrote more Oboe concertos which have been lost. A great shame
I love oboe, my sister has played it 40 years
0:00 I. Allegro aperto
6:56 II. Adagio non troppo
14:21 III. Rondo: Allegretto

The tone is so well controlled it sounds like both a woodwind and a string. Amazing!
Every time I tell people I play the oboe and they don't know what it is, I die inside a little...then I beat the shit out of them.
thank you for your service gandhi
Who doesn’t know what an oboe is tho 😂 I play the viola, and NOBODY knows about it
Every time that I tell people that I play the oboe I listen to this and then go make my apologies for misleading them.
Damn Gandhi ! Didn't know you had that in you !

A pleasure to listen to the melancholic oboe in Mozart's magnificent concerto.
So happy, like angels laughing.
Mozart my n# 1 composer, outstanding performance of the orchestra, oboist is fantastic!
I love this concerto. I find it very bright and positive!
I was presented a beautiful evening by the 12 Mozart pieces, and thank you for uploading them.
Incomprehensibly graceful, simple and elegant. The iridescent mystery which is Mozart

Mozart, Genio, inigualable.
Epic, typical Mozart trademark from 5:23 to 5:43, directly from heaven
I completely agree, he is a genius, it is because he still lives on with his music. That part is one of the most uplifting phrases of music I've heard.
Lol the part is in the clarinet concerto.
"directly from heaven" I love that! It is so true, his music is so perfect... ; u ;
Like the Andantino from Flute and Harp Concert!
MrTorterra111 it's there in every Mozart concerto..no body does trills better than mozart

I've played the allegro on flute before.
I never knew it stemmed from an oboe concerto!
Thx to Anime Nodame Cantible , now i enjoying classical music like never before !!

The Rondo. So playfull :) Can't stop listening!

Bellísimo concierto, música del cielo.
Even though I like the bassoon more (no offense oboe players), the oboe is amazing and beautiful.

That cadenza was genius...
why?
You have to devote your life to the oboe to understand that it is truely the most difficult instrument in the orchestra to master.
A songwriter of gold. His work keeps surprising me!
Very soothing and nice piece of classical music ...
Thanks!
Wolfie oh god.. another fucking celebrity imposter... these aren't even funny
tech nichy Please keep profanity and sexual references out of my music.
Wolfie please fuck off once you learn that youre not funny at all.
unless you have a small brain capacity which i think you do
tech nichy why don't you keep your opinions to yourself and go back to your mother's basement? :)
Danke für die Postierung.

Soundhound tells me the Oboist is Heinz Holliger and orchestra Academy of St. Martin-in-the-fields (1984)
Mozart Mozart Mozart......eternal Mozart; simple, light, quiet, gentle, from the heart.
Beethoven, Beethoven, Beethoven.....eternal Beethoven; strong, impetuous, continuous, energetic, from the brain.
But both from Divinity, from God.
Sublime !!! No matter who the player / artist is .
I am ill, but this music makes me forget all about it. Sheer magic!
