The 2023 Cadillac XT4 Is A High Priced & High Style Compact Luxury SUV

  • The #Cadillac #XT4 has been on the market since 2019 and while this might be the most affordable SUV in their lineup, it is far from being the best-selling model. The #CadillacXT4 continues to stand up from the crowd with its sleek design and while its spacious cabin and peppy turbo engine make for a nice car on paper, when you get it out on the road, some buyers may notice there are far better choices for less money.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! Its been a couple years since we drove the Cadillac XT4 and while this model seemed competitive back in 2019, today there are a lot of good choices for the money and we looking forward to seeing what Cadillac has planned for a mid-cycle refresh in the next year or so!

@@naveenthemachine I'd prefer the NX over the RAV4 because its gussied up! 😆 More amenities equals more comfort. In terms of the XT4, it tried to be a gussied up Encore/Equinox but it leaves more to be desired with the interior workmanship. I can't really comment on the QX50 because I haven't really studied it but I'm skeptical of the variable compression Turbo engine and Nissan's CVT . The Venza is a great choice but not enough ponies for me.

@@DapperDilla Some cars have deactivation without the button. Some have the button. Good luck explaining that to people since the dash then has extra lights that annoy them. ("My tire light is on but it's different" lol) Then they complain they have an orange light on their dash. Also, GM only has a 6 year, 60,000 mile warranty. Garbage by today's standards. The GM turbo's will start going out at about 65k miles with moderate driving. They start to buzz under low-medium load. I worked on a 2023 Traverse the other day (probably not the same engine as this Caddy). @7k miles, doing it's first oil change (Scheduled maintenance by GM Mind you, not 5K, full synthetic, Pennzoil Platinum or Amsoil Signature (In my opinion, those are the best motor oils)), it was already deadly low on oil after letting the car sit for 10 mins before opening the hood. GM lift points have been garbage for quite awhile. ~1sq inch to deal with. Hence, lower trim gets damaged.... By design. Oil Filter is a nearly impossible to change if over tightened (I think they are over tightened from the factory). But still, horrible location and design. Also, there were 12 screws holding in the engine air filter. It's somewhat nice inside though but, low visibility, and high drag/low aero dynamics. Atleast it doesn't have the Northstar in it though! I haven't seen many new Cadillacs but I have yet to see any with 200,000 miles.

I have no problems with the rather harsh review of this product, but why is it that when reviewing any German brand, the same harsh criticisms are never made? Every Mercedes released in the last 5 to 10 years has endless creeks and groans in it's interior and full of gimmicky tech, but no reviewers are ever willing to call them out on it. All the Germans have massive repair bills after the 3 year warranty runs out, but again, no one is ever willing to say anything about their terrible reliability. Being harsh against American products is fine when it is fair, but only being critical with American brands is bias.

We drove our 2021 XT4 on a long trip recently. The 9 speed transmission often gets stuck in 8th gear, resulting in poor higway fuel economy. 11L per 100. BUT if I coast to 97 km, the car will shift into 9th speed. I can then use cruise accelerate button, to get to highway speed of 120km. the fuel economy then drops to 8.5per 100. huge difference. Took it back to dealer in Canada for reprogram. they said it is operating normally. it finds the optimum gear. Bull$$$t.
My 2017 CTS 2.0 Turbo with 10 speed will go down the road at 125km in 10th gear, idling below 1800 rpm, with amazing highway economy of 6.9 l per 100.

Yeah the prices for the option packages were the biggest slap in the face to me. Lesser cars in GM unlike Mercedes and BMW they are their own and don’t have lesser brands they take parts from so it’s always going to be that Cadillac will always be low rent vehicle not matter what they do. And scientists in the US will often talk about newton meters, so it literally means something in the US. Do you have the same feeling when you buy a 2 liter Coke, for example. Newton-meter is not some mysterious measurement. But whatever the f**K 450 on an S Class is actually a mystery.
