    For other total newbs like me, the M420 S1 is inserted after the G28 line in the start code. If you are using Cura, select your printer from the drop down on the right, click "manage printers", highlight the printer you want, click "machine settings" and the start g-code will be in the lower left corner. Insert a line after the G28 and paste the M420 S1 there.

      M420 S1
      G29 A ; Activate the UBL System.
      G29 L0 ; Load UBL slot 0
      G29 J ; 3-point level
      G29 F10.0 ; Fade to 10mm
      or just
      M420 S1

      You need just the m420 s1. You put the code into what you have in the start gcode now. You I’ll see a g28 code, just put this after it.

    This may also solve a problem I have not seen addressed anywhere. The added weight of a direct-drive extruder can make the z-axis drift downward as soon as the steppers are disabled for leveling. If the machine keeps the motors "locked" during setup, gravity is one variable not to worry about. I should have done this upgrade over the weekend!

    Levelling active, I believe, is what you click to utilize the mesh created by your BL Touch/Auto Level process. If you uncheck it, it seems to ignore the mesh created by the BL. I think it just restores or "turns on" the mesh you created and saved. I kept running into issues because this setting needs to be toggled on each time the printer is turned back on.

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know. Mine seems to print great either way. Lol.

    • @wumfi
      @wumfi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@3DPrintSOS On that note, even when your click to store the settings, that's one option it seems to ignore. You have to turn it on every time. I suspect that the reason you haven't noticed a difference is because you have a great set up, and your bed is perfectly level anyway. If I forget to turn it on, I get weird stuff happening at the centre of the bed, as I have an imperfection there. I can confirm this because when I do the manual level, the centre point is always out. If I adjust to make it correct, the head is too close at the corners. Therefore, the mesh solves that issue, but I have to remember to turn it on! Edit: Just got to the end of the video, and realised that you mentioned about altering the start GCode. If you do that, then you will never need to turn it on at the printer level. Makes perfect sense, and thank you for mentioning that! Something I never thought of, but going to do that right now!

    I installed this firmware, I chose the 4x4, I have always had a bit of trouble getting this printer to start printing, but could usually manage to get it going and end with "decent" quality. After installing and going through the process for a mesh, I can now "see" why. I'm not entirely sure how a piece of glass could be this far warped, but it is. Left to right the bed is half a mm out, doesn't seem like much, but the middle is domed, now I can see why I always had issues. I just printed a calibration cube and it is just about perfect, the first layer is as perfect as I have ever seen and the rest of the cube looks awesome.

    I have watched many of your videos mainly about Voxelab Aquila which have been extremely helpful, I think I would have probably not proceeded very far without your guide. I will soon have had my machine for a year, I have had many successful prints but I do not print all the time. I bought my Aquila through an online auction site that sells excess stock , returns etc. of all sorts from electrical items to furniture and cars and the Aquila was described incorrectly as the X2 which would have had a Filament runout sensor but as it was the earlier model this was not included. The board has a socket labelled as Filament sensor and I would like to add this facility to the machine. The Voxelab sensor to purchase here in the UK is expensive and I would like to know if it is possible to use an alternative without too much difficulty, I intend to update the firmware Alex's as per your video soon I have been waiting for the shorter days. It will be my 80th birthday in December and I will treat myself to a filament sensor. You do not seem to mention filament sensors is there a reason or do you not use one. Keep up the videos there must me more new users that will find them essential. Ray

When I try to use the manual leveling feature on this software none of the commands take the extruder to the right place, the center is not in the middle, the top left is too far to the right, etc. So none of my prints print in the center of the bed and it causes issues when leveling. If you have any advice on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

      It sounds like the firmware you installed has the wrong dimensions. It sounds to be like it thinks you have a larger bed. You just need to reflash with the right one and you’ll be back in no time.

    I tried this again and the mesh leveling is literally different every print. Even after creating a new mesh, I go back to control and store settings. Even did the M420 S1 Gcode and did a level print and it showed level. Went to print 2mm square to double check and its not even close to level. So I go in and manually check the mesh and its different every time I've done it. I'll go to mesh value and its too high or too low. Not sure what the heck is going on with it but I've been fooling with this leveling now for 6+ hours and nothing I've done will keep the level. Even manually leveled the bed before creating the mesh and still doesn't work.

    I may be getting a CREALITY Ender 3, will it be possible to put the 3D Printer HD Display Screen Kits 24 Bits Mainboard for CREALITY Ender 3 V2 on the old CREALITY Ender 3?

      Good question. I’m not sure of the exact item you’re referring to. Hard to tell just from that title but seems like it a screen and motherboard? If so, that could just be a drop in upgrade.

    Hi Fedor, been using the mesh leveling for a while, but for some reason now, after a print I lose the mesh leveling settings and have to turn the x2 off and on for it to come back. Have you come across this before?

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm. There must be something in your end gcode that turns off the mesh. You can also add a start gcode to always pull up the mesh and then that should fix the issue. I don’t remember it off the top of my head but it’s very common. So a quick search should pull it right up.

      @@3DPrintSOS I managed to sort the issue of the mesh level disappearing after each print. After reading some marlin gcodes, I came across RESTORE_LEVELING_AFTER_G28. I put the code in the end gcode in cura and after every print, my mesh level is back without me having to turn my printer off and on.

    So if it doesn’t have a sticker, that means it’s a G-32? I don’t know which version my Aquila is or how to identify it.

      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. If there is no sticker, you’re lookin at a G32

    Is there an updated process for this for 2022? i just followed your steps and tried to install the firmware as the video shows but when i turned the screen back on it was just black and did not upload the new options, luckily i was able to reinstall the original firmware from the Voxelab website and the screen returned to how it was but i would very much like to figure out how to install the firmware to try the mesh leveling, can you assist? i have a Voxelab Aquila X2 the sticker on it shows H32

    FYI your machine coordinates flash between zero and question mark when the steppers are disabled.. This firmware is excellent! Great video once again! Thanks Fedor!

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. Cause at that point the printer doesn’t really know where the hotend is. Until it’s homed. :)

    Great video thanks. Confirmed I wanted to upgrade my Aquila firmware. One question, is there any visual indication that M420 S1 has activated the use of the mesh when printing (other than a better first layer)? My Z position still just shows 0.30, 0.50 etc when printing.

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. To be honest, I’m not sure if there’s a visual indication.

    So I manually leveled the bed with the knobs. Started with the mesh bed leveling and it was preset to .20. I’m having to go to 0.00 and it’s still not as tight using the paper method. Do I turn the knobs or what do I adjust when this happens?

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That means your z switch is a bit too high. I would lower it a bit and do another manual leveling again.

    Will this firmware work for the Aquila v2? I've been afraid to install any firmware because it seems nothing works in the V2? But would like to for sure.

    • @3DPrintSOS

    I just bought the Aquila X2 two weeks ago. I have the H32 chip. It seems to get a bad rap everywhere I look. Did I get an older printer? I would love to try this firmware. Thanks! (I realize this video was filmed in Aug.) Has anything changed?

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The h32 is actually newer. It was a replacement for other machines because of the chip shortage. Unfortunately to get 3rd party firmware, you need a new motherboard. At the moment, there are no h32 compatible firmware that is out.

    I've been watching your videos since i got the aquila.....your videos are extremely informative and has helped me with many issues i've ran into...so far. But....I've downloaded the manualmesh firmware and tried installing it....but after installing to my printer the screen just hangs with the checkmark and i can't do anything.....turn off my printer and just get a black screen on powerup...i've gone back to reinstalling the the aquila firmware and am able to print again.....my question is how can i get manualmesh installed on my printer? Do you have a walk thru for this particular issue?

      Hmm sounds like you may have either the wrong firmware or the card isn’t properly formatted. Make sure you also install the DWIN_SET

      Depends on what chip you have. There is a sticker on your machine that looks like a chip with either a H32 or N32 on it. If its an N32 you can. If its an H32 you have to be patient as its not ready for release yet.
