- This is a quick review of the Lotus thickness planer. I am very impressed with these guys bringing in a thickness player (their first) WITH a spiral cutter head. That is just awesome! #DIYweekends

From looking at the inserts they are not helical(skewed so that the inserts are at an angle to the feed), but rather, spiral (inserts are not skewed and are perpendicular to the feed).
That's very interesting. I actually always thought helical and spiral were the same. Thanks for pointing out the difference!

The specs on this all over Lazada and Shopee say it has 24 2-sided blade inserts but yours look like 4-sided... what's up with that?
Hindi po sya helical head planer, straght head planer lang sya na carbide insert lang ang gamit na talim, ang helical head ay katulad ng shelix cutterhead.

How much
Ser may lock ba sa depth adjustment para uniform thickness kung madami kang ipeplane? Thank you.
Hindi naman gumagalaw yung adjustment when you put in the planks of wood so a lock is not necessary. But my suggestion is if you are running multiple planks, start planing with the thickest board then slowly lowering the blade (and running more boards) until you get to the desired thickness - that way hindi mapupurol agad blades.
Sori ser. Hindi pala lock sa depth adjustment scale. I mean kung nakuha mo na yung desired thickness mo at gusto mo ulit-ulitin sa ibang planks, wala bang stop to para hindi ka lalagpas sa desired thickness mo?
will it level the wood and make it flat?
you will need a jointer to square 1 face and edge, while the other unfinished sides goes top the planer, jointer cannot do all 4 sides as it will taper
Heavy duty planer?
No. I have one. The motor conked out after only 1 month of moderate diy use. Bought one dahil kala ko okay na ito sa occasional weekend DIY use. I only mostly used it to plane 1 inch tanguile and lauan planks for diy project. Imagine kung mas matigas pa na kahoy.
This planer, while it seems well built, is junk. I've bought one from shopee, thinking that it should be good enough for occasional weekend diy use, but the motor conked out after only 1 month of moderate usage. Do yourself a favor and just buy a better brand planer. This planer is also not exactly cheap. For its price, i would have expected na tatagal ng kahit 1 year man lang sana. Lesson learned. Just spend a bit more on those proven brands of powertools. Never again lotus.
