Thanks for sharing your weekend experience! Those frescoes were indeed fabulous. One thing we do have a hard time with in Italy is the lateness of the dinner hour. We just get so hungry and want to eat at 6:00 and then we end up being the very first people to arrive at a restaurant. I think we would get pretty antsy waiting for a talent show to start that late. I, too, shared Matt's feelings about Ikea and had not attempted to visit again since the one in the Chicago area opened 20+ years ago. And we do have one in Indianapolis where we now live and still had not gone. That being said, last fall when we needed to quickly get twin beds and mattresses, bedding, towels, chairs and kitchen items such as a portable induction cooktop for our very rustic house in Abruzzo, we succumbed to the ease of Ikea. I have never seen a small hatchback packed as tight! We did also get a charming complete china set at a mercatino usato. I can't wait to go back and check out antique stores. In the meantime, I live vicariously through my youtube friends' experiences.
So I found the trick to adjusting was apertivos. A snack and beverage between 5:30 and 7. Of course many nights we choose not to have dinner after that and opt for a gelato instead 😜🍦🍨 If I was in the states I’d be making a trip to Target but I haven’t found it’s equivalent here yet!
