Besides the fire scene, I really liked the part when Jaypaw decides that his place is in ThunderClan and his destiny is to be a medicine cat. It shows how far he’s really come from being a, albeit understandable, jerk to a mature, and caring medicine cat who still maintains his sarcastic edge. I can still picture the pride in Leafpool’s eyes as she hail’s Jaypaw by his new name
The girl that they wrote Brightspirit for lived in a town about 45 minutes from me. I was 12 and that town ended up having a mini Warriors convention that I went to. They had trivia contests, a book signing by Vicki, and we got to take pictures with her. They also had dog and cat shows that Vicki also judged. The grandparents of the girl helped organize it all.
14:20 Just a little note, I'm pretty sure Lionblaze just imagines killing Heathertail in this moment, he doesn't act out on it and actually attack her.
Meanwhile, during that prologue- Skystar is probably just sitting in a gorge somewhere twitching his little kitty paws while the other StarClan cats, far away are stuck dealing with these things happening in the clans. XD
The main thing I wish they didn't do was have the cat mint in Wind Clan or not having the cat named for a girl who died to a tornado say to go to Wind Clan. Just why have someone who died to a wind based disaster say to go Wind Clan?
To me, the tribute to Brightspirit was one of the few redeeming qualities of this book, since the writer's went out of their way to dedicate a character to her, which was really sweet. I could've actually seen Brightspirit, Braveheart, and Shiningheart (the latter two who are actually dedicated to the fan's parents) being in position of higher authority within Starclan, if they had stuck around in later books. It seemed as though they were, since they seemed to hold more knowledge than the rest of Starclan.
Sunnyfall - I'm currently reading Metamorphosis and i just have to say, you've done an incredible job building up the battle. The sense of dread before it is intense!
I used to think Jay's Wing was supposed to be who Jayfeather would have been if he wasn't blind, was born into a different culture and had a different family situation. Jayfeather himself developing feelings for Half Moon seems to support this. That would actually be an interesting look at how experiences shape who someone is if they'd actually taken the time to develop the idea. But given what they eventually did with Cinderpelt and Cinderheart, probably not.
If Mothwing can believe that meeting them at the Moonstone was just a dream then it's possible, just unlikely. But it's still hard to swallow retroactively since Blackstar's novella came out and we know what an intense emotional rollercoaster his leader ceremony was.
Although now that I think about it, after a leadership ceremony like that it would make sense if Blackstar's main emotion towards StarClan was fear of judgment. This might explain why he was so quickly swayed to get rid of Sol just by two cats appearing. But I doubt that was the intention.
Super Tuesday was terrible. I never heard the story of Brightspirit before now and it's sad to learn one of our fandom lost their lives that day. Thank you for covering such a sensitive topic
I remember reading the climax of this book for the first time during a really scary thunderstorm and trying to read to distract myself while nervously looking up every few pages, and getting to the fire scene and just getting sucked in. I also remember skipping the jayfeather time travel stuff.
I always had a small headcanon about what happened to the real Jay's Wing. Rock sort of had a paw in the actual Jay's Wing's death. Like, maybe Rock or Fallen Leaves lead Jay's Wing down the wrong parts of the tunnels, getting this poor cat lost in the tunnels. This cat went missing just as Jayfeather appeared in the past and took his place. Once Jayfeather brought the tribe to the mountains, and Half Moon was made as stoneteller, Jay's Wing's spirit was freed from the tunnels. He learnt of what Jayfeather did and sort of just accepts it. I dunno as a kid I liked the whole time travel thing, but as an adult I find it hard to tolerate.
Fire scene or not, this was the book that convinced me that this arc had gone completely off the rails. It is even more directionless than Starlight or Twilight, because at those books still had central focus. This book felt like those filler episodes you get in a series in between the turning point episodes. The whole thing about faking the sign from Starclan only for them to show up was a stupid (both as a story point and the plan itself), the Jay's Wing thing was unneccesary (though it was a nice change of pace to visit the ancients), and I find it really strange that everything about the Ashfur-Squirrelflight revelation was the most compelling part of the series, almost as if the writer's would much rather write a family drama than a fantasy cat book series. But the part that angered me more than anything else was Midnight's reveal regarding Sol. So you're telling me that this same badger who supposedly helped these clans find their new home, also decided to help out this cat who had every intention of ruining the clans, by sharing a very specific prophecy with him. How is this supposed to be helpful to clans? Like, in any way? What does it have to do with the Three? Are they supposed to somehow unite the clans together, because all it did was accomplish exactly the opposite. So much for Midnight being this wise guide. She wasn't even really that useful back in the New Prophecy. If anything, this whole revelation just makes her look like villain more than anything else, and even kind of gives Blackstar turning his back some justification, since the exact same person who helped them find this find the lake is now causing the clans' downfall. This plot point alone made me lose all the little lingering faith I had in the story, the arc itself, and the writers to do anything competent with these books. Yes, the fire scene was well executed, but one scene alone can't make up for a bad story as a whole. Really, the fire scene is all that this arc has going for it, because besides the characters, there's much to write home about. It's just a terrible arc with one really good scene, and nothing more.
I got stuck in the past and couldn’t leave until I convinced a few cats that I was their friend that is actually most likely dead in the tunnels. Oh, and sending them into the mountains. That happened too
Erin Hunter, probably: ''One book left to solve all of this arc's plot, yes... It sure would be a shame if we spent half of it on traveling.''
Lmao

Unfortunate name
@@Rainer-fw7fd Haha, yeah. I made this account over 10 years ago when I was a young child, and he was my favorite.
Also, im 99% sure lionblaze went alone

Fishleap is what grizzly bears call spring in Seekers, which was coming out around the same time as Power of Three. Hmm.

I didn't realise how bad that sounds until you said it oh wow
Fr, you just opened my eyes to how messed up (no matter how unintentional it may have been) this line was
Oop 😳

how could Blackstar a leader question Starclan’s existence when he has had a Leader Ceremony
I think he was questioning starclan’s ability to help in times of need
@@bernhardinek ok makes sense

Not going to lie as much as I liked this book I’ve always felt like there was something that was off and this video perfectly addresses that.

I may be wrong but I believe. That firestar lost a life to the fox trap in sunset and a fox attack between arc 2 and 3 😅
