This is video is so important, especially for beginners, cause it is explaining the basic and very first step!! I really need you to react to Lara Fabian - you’re not from here live performance on love with Lara
well it would be..if I knew how to do half the stuff she did in there .-. Like when she said "what if ..we make it a little shaky " and literally swings her voice like a swing and I am like " but HOW!?" I don't think I could repeat that without accidently swallowing a vibrator. Or how she suddenly sung super loud without having to breath inbetween. how? or when she said she makes the word longer "I haaaaaaaave to get out today" but she didn't only stretch it,she put so much strength into that word. When I do that my voice automatically gets higher the more I stretch, hers doesn't. Why?
Thanks for all tutorials! I agree with you everyone can sing! Although I have my doubt my singing voice, I have loved singing since I was kid but than someone told me that I couldn't sing. Now is bit better, I just keep singing and praise in church without thinking anyone else would listen. Praise should be our heart and not by using our voices.
What a perfect sound isolation that window has. Many cars passing and no engines sounding, while I listen perfectly to the piano and your voice. And this is the best how to start class for singing I've seen. Great! Training the ears to catch notes and starting around the speaking voice.
@@gunnar1797 I mean. Headphones aren't hard to come by... I just found the "perfect sound isolation" comment weird because I can clearly hear otherwise (not that it bothered me).

Super weird question. But is the voice we actually hear the same as everyone else does. Like when you hear yourself on the phone your like. Is that what I sound like. ? What if you think your singing correctly but actually your hearing it differently.
I record my voice when I'm singing (because what you hear isn't what other people hear) but it still isn't what you sound like it's just closer to reality.
my voice sounds super breathy, weak and cracks all. the. time. when i try to find my mixed voice (my head voice is fine and my chest voice is powerful, but only in really low notes. as i go higher (F after middle C) my voice just breaks and i need to change to head voice). i don't understand how there can be such a huge crack and difference in tone between my chest voice and head voice, almost feels impossible to ever find my mix.. could you touch on this in a future video?
She did a video on this already. The videos called " Males: Finding your mix " and theres also another video where she talks about "Why does my voice crack". Hope I helped :)
I love to sing (youtube/spotify/radio, when I hear music = I sing), but it feels like I don't have a good range. Every song I am trying to sing is to high for me. Even when male singers are singing. It feels like I have a very short range. Range is trainable, said a friend of mine one time. BUT. I don't know where to start. Only when I'm going into my headvoice, I'm able to sing 'high'. But, I'd love to sing higher in a chest voice. It's not that I have a low voice, or that I can sing very low. I'm only able to sing comfortably for a few notes. I feel a lot of tension too.. So, I'll keep viewing your video's en try to learn from it. Thanks!
Jayden Marius There aren’t really example songs for mixed voice specifically. Different people can sing the exact same song and exact same notes but some might need to use mix while others can do it all in chest. If you’re saying songs/videos of people switching into mix, then she already has a video on her channel with a male coach, who works with her, singing to demonstrate.
Great demonstration. I'd like to see you keep writing the song you've started writing and write it right in front of us on TH-cam. ...I just wonder things like; will that be the opening line, or will it be the chorus defining the the thrust of the song, or will it be the closing line that possibly challenges a song about an introverted mood... So many possibilities! Thanks.
Great Video! I enjoy singing, I had pitch when I sang in a Choir ..my issue is that I believe I permanently wrecked my voice...if I try any sort of head note...say singing tenor I start to cough and clear my throat. I will keep at it!
Hi Tara, great videos. So much enthusiasm. I love singing at Church and people remark that they enjoy hearing me sing. I love singing classic numbers like "straighten up and fly right", When I fall in Love" Fly me to the moon and "What a swell party it is". These I only sing at home to myself when I'm pottering about and it sounds ok. The trouble is if ever I sing any of these in public say with a Karaoke I sound terrible; invariably in the wrong key, always. Can you explain to the absolute beginner, what keys are and how they relate to notes and pitch please? I feel handicapped not having a proper understanding of these basic musical principles. Keep up the good work 🙂
Not a singer, but a musician, and I might be able to help with this one - basically, a key determines 2 major things in a song. 1. Which notes are used, E.G There are no flats or sharps in C major but there is one flat in F Major. This gives each key its own unique feel and sound. 2. It also determines how high or low a piece is sung/played. This might need further explanation. Let's say I'm writing a very basic melody that goes up 5 notes and then back down those same notes. If i write that melody in C (the 1st note in C major) and decide to start and end on C the lowest note will be C and the highest will be G (the 5th note in C major). If someone changes that same melody to D major (one tone up) then the lowest note will be D (the 1st note in D major) and the highest will be A (5th in D major). Thats the basics of how keys work - this is how they apply to singing - if your comfortable singing range is lower or higher than the key you are singing in then it will be harder to sing and probably you may sound off as you struggle to get the notes at the edges of your range. This doesn't make you a bad singer - you're just singing in the wrong key for your voice. So you may want to move the key a few tones up or down depending on where you are struggling. When you're singing at home its likely you do this without thinking about it - you sing where it is comfortable. But in karaoke the key is fixed (unless you have an amazing karaoke where they let you choose the key) which might explain your trouble there. Hope this helps
Thank you Tara for this important and motivating lesson .. I trust your curriculum and I will adopt it in my musical studies in the field of singing to graduate from our music academy in Abu Dhabi I participate in Riffs and Runs program as I am advanced singer, and if find it perfect to me I will participate in Sing Smarter Not Harder 8 week Course as well ..thanks again and I look forward to more of your creativity and knowledge in this field.
My family loves to sing, but my mom insists she can't. But really she just needs to train her ear to hear her own pitches and such. I really should show this video to her! Question though, what about rapping? 😂
I love to sing but not great I have a low voice and could t hit a high note if I stood on Eiffel Tower would love your opinion sometime. Love your voice and videos!
So, I was a high soprano classically trained vocalist for about 9 years. I then went and lived in Italy for a few years and got a sinus infection that was never treated that caused some damage to my voice (not just damage in my head but actual damage that has caused me to have 2 different facial reconstructive surgeries). Since all this, I am lucky to sing a short hymn or lullaby to my daughter. My question is, can my voice be 'retrained' or is it just something I have to accept as how it is? My soul misses singing but then when I try I just get discouraged. I've also had a baby in all that time, which I know can change things too. Please let me know!!
I know of a famous celebrity that has the same case as you. She was also a classically trained vocalist and was one of the top 3 sopranos at one of the most prestigious music schools in South Korea. She was also an actress and during one of her shoots, she had to scream and strain for a couple of takes and that took a toll on her voice. She suddenly couldn't sing anymore. She struggled and eventually quitted on singing. But now, she wants to sing again and it's as if she's starting all over again and just learning things for the first time. Her name is Kang Yewon. You should look her up. It might gave you hope and confidence. ❤
It is absolutely possible to retrain your voice to be able to sing. All you've done is lost the muscle strength and some of the muscle memory in your body and vocal chords. Once you start training again (as long as you're maintaining your voice and keeping it healthy and monitored) you can most likely get back to the same/similar place you were in before. It's exactly the same as working a muscle like your abs or biceps. You can get muscle damage and without training lose definition and strength in your muscles, but training can still bring you back to a similar place you were in before

Once he wanted to sing with me and we tried finding our first note on the piano. No matter how often i played him the note he couldnt find it, he was either to higher or to lower. It was easier for me to find his note than for him to find mine. Even a easy C-major scale was an unbeatable task for him. After hearing him sing "Tone deaf" got a complete new meaning for me and everyone who thinks they are trust me u are not. The moment someone can play you 2 different notes at the same time on a piano and you say:"I think one of the keys is broken" cause u think that only 1 note got played, then u can say you are tone deaf.
I love to sing but I’m too shy I’m working real hard to overcome my self doubt I have one video of me singing can you look at it and give me feedback to improve my singing
