TJ defalco was outstanding, 25 points, 23/32, 3 errors, 2 blocks, and second best passing behind shoji on the match.
Well, he should be! Personally, not really a fan of him, but he must be indeed credited for his contributions to this game. Still prefer Jaeschke over him, but I think youth is really TJ’s edge. He’s much improved in his defense and commits less error. Missing Tay Sander in indoor tho. But it is, what it is.
P.S. I wanna see more court time for Mason Briggs but I’m not seeing him in the line up. Also, the Long Beach gals - Tuaniga, Defalco and Ensing - have exemplified their chemistry here, which I think Speraw is pretty leaning to. More court time also for James Shaw, please LOL
@@supremeabsolutism5678 interesting points, I’d like to respond. At this point TJ is clearly better than Jaeschke, TJ was among the best outsides in the plusliga, and followed up well here in outing one. Briggs won’t play basically at all, he’s here to train, and Dag was rather good in shojis absence last week. Lastly, no Shaw, he literally goes on court now so that it’s tougher for opposing outsides to go OTT.
@@Thomas_Erickson Agreed!!! 100% Defalco is not comparable to Jaeschke... Shaw and Garrett M spot should be given to other NCAA 1st all american.
and DeFalco is waaaay much hotter than Jaesche
Not as great officially: 25 points, only 13 net (minus points lost).
defalco seems to have matured a lot as a player this year, loved to see him play
true cuz if he still act like he's in college, these Europeans are ready to throw hands especially the Polish players lol
The team needs his firepower, intensity, and versatility (plays offense and defense so well).

@@sierray3101 couldn’t agree more. I find him having some challenges as to how he easily gets frustrated and seemed to carry it to the national team. That’s not how you do it, especially facing this world-class calibers. Though I’m not a big fan of him, he astounds me with his performance, at least in this game - playing much fire power and defense, and playing beyond his physicality. Consistency is key and hoping in dealing with his instances when he’s distraught or what, being transparent from before. My two cents

Anyone else seeing the foot play at 4:28 being two contacts (foot and hand)? Great reaction by Serbia but that should have been USA's point since that wasn't the first contact.

Fast double touches like that in defense are mostly common so referees consider it one touch and keep the rally going

@@javier101lol yea in hs, i passed the ball and it bounced up and hit my face and the ref said later that it was okay for those types of doubles.
Yeahhh with those its up to the ref assuming they see it. I can see arguments for both sides whether it is a double or not
There is no single comment about how good Tuaniga was setting. He made great progress in Slepsk Suwalki and his play on this year VNL is superb.

I need David Smith to do a lifestyle documentary for me. What does he eat? How often and in what manner does he work out? How much sleep does he get? Because to be playing the way he is at his age is simply ridiculous! He really is father-prime right now! Absolute mad man!

@@sardarasadalimasood3435 Simon is an absolute beast in his own right, but David Smith is two years older than Simon and he's still playing! I'm just amazed by the vitality of some of these players.

His athleticism is still off the charts! Some of the plays he makes are just unbelievable like the point at 1:52.

I hope in the world championships later this year, USA's line would be like this:
Setters: Christenson, Tuaniga
Middles: Smith, Holt, Jendryk, Mitchem
Outsides: Anderson (could also be OPP) , Russell , Jaeschke, Defalco
OPP: Ensing, Hanes
Libero: Shoji, Dagostino
ma'a would've been the second setter to christenson, I forget his reasoning not wanting to return to USA though.
@@KavesReal There might be a slim chance of Maa making it in the world championships as he was the one who personally declined the national team's invitation in this year's VNL which I think is the main deciding factor for the roster in the world championships. He said he wished to spend more time with his family in between his professional season abroad based on his out of system podcast with the worsley brothers

So 2:07 is a really funny moment because for those that don't know, David Smith is actually legally deaf. He hit the ball into the guy's face and thought the ball was down, and didn't hear the excitement of the crowd when the ball came back over, which is why he kept walking away.
I've watched this point a dozen times and I never noticed that Smith just walked off 😂

can somebody explain how many points do we get if we won a match?
like in football you'll get 3 points if you won a match, but in volleyball it's little bit confusing
You get 3 points if you win 3-0 or 3-1 while the losing team gets 0. If it goes to 5 sets than the team that wins 3-2 gets 2 points and team that lost 2-3 gets 1 point. So USA has 14 points right now, won 4 matches 3-0/3-1 for 12 points and beat Japan 3-2 for another 2 points.

Max Holt and Micah are resting still. Matt Anderson isn't playing this VNL but is supposed to be back for the World Championship. Ben Patch will not be playing with team USA this year. He and the organization has a falling out, and it sounds like he was hurt by their actions during Olympic selection last year.
@@hariseldon6668 Patch according to one of the podcast will not join anymore the national team under Speraw. He was devastated not chosen in 2020 Olympics. But, Gabi Garcia will join the US team in 2024.
