I feel bad for all the people who start playing league of legends after watching Arcane, they wont even know they are walking into a internet salt mine
my issue with the show is that piltover seems to have no reason to have not either 1. helped out the undercity by spreading their wealth or 2. just let them peacefully become independent so it’s no longer their problem to send police. if the entire undercity’s economic power is basically controlled by silco and his drug empire, there’s little reason to keep them attached to piltover, since there’s no monetary gain to having an underclass that doesn’t work for piltover (see: the *children* work for silco bc of a lack of options). silco’s demand for sovereignty was completely reasonable because they show he was willing to end shimmer production. they somehow only came to negotiate YEARS later. maybe only then because hextech provided piltover with its own priority and they realized they didn’t need the undercity, but they don’t ever acknowledge that? clearly topside was fine before hextech?? tl;dr i just don’t understand the council’s motivations for oppressing the undercity
@@danihk2872 So, it's set up that piltover was using the undercity for production. There aren't mines or factories topside, right? They exploit the people there for their labor value and the people buying that labor value are taking the surplus created by that production it as personal profit instead of paying the undercity workers. The chems, gears, etc, all get mined and built down there, that's what the hextech gauntlets and lazer were made to help with.
@@danihk2872 The people topside who own the means of production benefit from the status quo of an impoverished separated working class undeneath them, even in topside minor houses that own factories were beneath major ones who owned way more, and profit always trickled up.
Vander trying to drown silco happens after he adopts vi and powder. Writers have confirmed on Twitter or somewhere I think. He leads the rebellion on the bridge. And changes his mind when he sees that he got the sisters parents killed. He adopts them and then betrays silco to try and stop the fighting.
I don't know if anyone has information about the lenght of the time skip between episode 3 and 4? In the little stories that Riot released after Arcane was released, we know that Vi spent a considerable amount of time in Stillwater Prison, and that she was 17 years old when arrested. We also know that Caitlyn and Vi are about the same age, + / - 1 year or so. Powder looks like she's about 10 in Act 1, but that's only speculation. 12 is definetly too old though. She clearly is a late teen/ young adult in Act 2. I'd be surprised if she was younger than 17/18 years old. That leaves us with a time skip of about 8 years, meaning that Vi and Caitlyn would be about 25 years old (makes sense), and Jayce being 24 in Act 1, would then be about 32 in Act 2. Marcus seems to have got a lot older so a 8 year time skip also makes sense for that character (he doesn't have a daughter in Act 1, and has a very young one in Act 2) The only thig that does not make a lot of sense is Mel. She hasn't changed between Act 1 and 2 at all so it is rather difficult to know how old she really is. We know that in Act 2 she has been banished for "a decade", but if the time skip is 8 years long, her being a very important part of the council in Act 1 does not make a lot of sense as she would have been there for less than 3 years, which is extremely short for someone to go from foreign Noxian noble to council member. And for her age, we don't have any information at all, she might be 20 in Act 1 and 28 in Act 2 or 25 in Act 1 and 33 in Act 2, there is no way of knowing for sure. I already asked a few people at Fortiche on twitter (that I already knew from other projects) and none of them was able to give me a tangible information, that was generally "sorry I can't communicate on that" type of answer. If any of you guys have ideas, suggestion or information about how long the time skip might be, feel free to share ! reddit seems divided between the "5 years" guys and the "10 years" dudes. While 10 years could have been plausible if Vi was 14 or 15, her being 17 renders it way too long, no way she's 27 in Act 2. And for the "5 years" theory, it works for Vi and Caitlyn (kinda, they should be like 22/21 years old, which is kinda young, but it works), it definetly doesn't for Jinx, there's no way she's only 15 in Act 2.
Mel's meeting with her mom happened way before the events on that bridge, since Mel has aged much more in Ep 1since her flashback, than the girls have aged since that bridge scene.
Jayce's flashback in the snow should precede the scene of the bridge with kid Vi and Powder, I think? Jayce is 24 in the events of Act1, and he looks to be somewhere around 14 in the flashback. So, ~10 years in between. Powder is around 10 in the events of Act1, and she looks to be somewhere around 4 or 5 in the bridge scene? So, ~5-6 years in between.
@@lockekappa500 He put the event of Vi+Powder on bridge before Jayce's flashback scene. It should be the opposide since Jayce's scene happens before. Edit : Actually I just rewatched, he puts the Vi+Powder on bridge event twice, once before and once after, which is kinda confusing
i read powder as being closer to 12 or 13 (just a bit younger than milo who was probably 14) while vi was 15-17 and a time skip of 6-8 years, but 8 is definitely on the much higher estimate.
When I say this show surprised the heck out of me!!!! I literally put it on waiting on my sister to get off work and once I got her home we binged the entire show
I played League of Legends 2 years a while ago before stopping. After watching Arcane, I now want to get back to playing it! I hope I can, can't wait to play my mains Kindred and Illaoi again!
Thanks for putting together a timeline. I'd argue we don't actually know that they wouldn't escaped at the factory. They were still on the second floor. Yeah, it looked like they would have, but in reality they weren't out of the woods yet, and Silco would not have simply given up and left them alone.
About caracters ages and time skip duration. these are my guesses : -first scene on the bridge : Vi is 10 and Powder is 5. -first act : time skip duration : 5 years, thus Powder is 10 yo, Vi is 15 yo. I suppose Ekko is almost the same age as Powder, or a bit younger, He must be 9 or 10 at this time. Caithlyn must be about the same age as Vi, 15 or 16 years old. I think Jayce is a bit older let's say is 17. Viktor is a bit older than Jayce, He might be 20. -Act 2 and 3 : time skip duration : 5 (or 6 years) : Powder/Jinx is 15, Vi is 20 (she pent 5 or 6 years in prison), thus it implies : Caithlyn is 20, Jayce 22, Viktor 25. It is of course pure guesses from me, and can be discussed...
Arcane writer Amanda Overton answered some of the questions regarding the timeline and based on what she said we have: - first scene on the bridge: not clear we can only guess based on how Vi and Powder look - first act: Vi and Cait are 14-16, Powder 11-12 (writer confirmed), Jayce is 24 (he said this to Heimerdinger in episode 2), Viktor looks older and is already not a student like Jayce, so maybe 26-27 - act 2 and 3: timeskip is 6-7 years (writer confirmed) which puts Vi and Cait to 20-23, Jinx 17-19, Jayce 30-31 and Viktor 32-34 The only character who remains a complete mystery to me is Mel.
@@miumaumeow I think Mel is older than Jayce. Maybe she is in her 30's during acte 2-3 (she's already an influential conselor who knows very well the others conselors.)
I still don't get when Vi managed to grow her hair after the attack on the cargo ship. It's like she got her hair 2x longer the next day. No wonder Ekko didn't recognize her on the top of the tower in ep. 6.

I hope they didn't start with Jayce XD
i mean i did exactly that, and i don't regret - i ve learned a lot more about the characters and the world of LoL. it was very interesting
It's because you haven't seen twitter
The animation is gorgeous in Arcane. It's like a beautifully written fantasy novel translated on screen.

The fact that you don’t need to know league of legends lore to enjoy this show is great

Nice to see you here as well!

Tip: Don't play league of legends just because you liked Arcane
yea like that will stop people
I don't understand why people keep saying that. I started playing again after arcane and I don't see the problem
Just don't play rank you will have fun
i mean league probably made arcane to get more people to play the game... but okay
I started watching the show this morning & binged it until the end. I feel empty now😂
