Thank you! I’m so glad this video can help you out! It has held up SO WELL, since the install. I haven’t had any issues and it does deaden the sound quite well!
Thank you! I had the name before I had the car, ironically. So glad you enjoy the fabric! I love it as well!! Never thought of batique, but you are so right!
Awesome job the design really matches the Speedle, headliners require a lot of patience and coordination and you nailed it! Cant wait to see what you do next!
Looks good. Gluing the backing on helps to stop condensation and rust. I have new carpets to install in my Humber Hawk. I'm looking for the right underlay to allow for a smooth surface.
awesome 👍👍😎 hey Caroline I think you'd really dig the 55-in wide 10 ft long headliner made of houndstooth material I custom installed in my 70 Monaco and no I never want to do that again vws after this only 🤣🤣🤣
That looks really good! We'll have to replace the factory headliner on one of our Bugs and this looks like an excellent way to do it. By the way, factory headliners burn surprisingly well when they get welding sparks on them! 😂
Why didnt you start with a layer of sound deadening mat? You would really notice a difference. Nice job, your my final inspiration to tackle my freshly painted Karmann aghia custom headliner..
Depending on the type of sound deadening mats, some of those adhesives don't adhere well while fighting gravity/ heat. They do have a few out there that are great. But the carpet liner is actually the exact same material that they put in most headliner kits. But I always love to try to do stuff that I can easily access so that I can share, it also helps if you are in a pinch!
Great job!! I would be interested to hear how you feel about the sound deadening padding now that you have "lived" with it this long. I will be starting my '74 Super project this winter and I want a headliner installation similar to what you have done with a more basic black or blue fabric. I want to get rid of the hollow "tin can" sound and feel with the factory headliner removed.
Well let me tell you, I am super impressed with it! The sound deadening is fantastic! The glue & everything has held up so well too! Very very very happy with the outcome of this one!
Yes! We custom cut panels that are a similar shape to the area, which were cut from an MDF board. It’s very similar to particle board & is readily available at most hardware stores
you can use too much glue if you want one headliner material that works fantastic is plaid felt the felt grabs the glue really well and it doesn't sag no matter what just spray enough glue
@@HHWheels shoot that is good enough for me. I've been wanting to redo my headliner but I have never done it and I'm too scared of messing it up but I seriously love the look of just that roof part being headlined and I like that bare metal look on the edges. I going to do this today! Thank you so much!
Amazing, thanks for giving me the inspiration and the confidence to finally tackle my nasty original headliner!
I've been looking for inspiration for a funky headliner for my full custom bug! Thanks, I love your resourcefulness and imagination.
Thank you! I’m so glad this video can help you out! It has held up SO WELL, since the install. I haven’t had any issues and it does deaden the sound quite well!
@@HHWheels Glad I found your channel HH. I can add you to my list of VW related subs!
The Speedle is awesome BTW.
Very nice, turned out great👍
The "Sun Bicycles" cardboard was pretty funny. 😂
thank you. Hahaha the bike boxes work surprisingly well for this haha
Speedle the Beetle, I love that name 😀
That fabric was a great choice. A very Indian batique look. A perfect 60s look for classic bug.
Thank you! I had the name before I had the car, ironically. So glad you enjoy the fabric! I love it as well!! Never thought of batique, but you are so right!
Adheezed.. i like it..its a Caroline word!! haha :) Great job..Looks better than my stock headliner. Looked pretty easy too! Happy weekend!!

Great job Caroline!! Everything you touch turns into gold!! You are the best ❤❤💪🤘
aww youre too kind freddy! thank you!
That was perfect! Thanks for posting this totally cool DIY. You just gave me the best idea for my headliner! I will start working on it now 😄
Yay! I am so glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully it’s useful for your diy!
@@HHWheels it was definitely useful and I finally have a headliner after putting it off for months and months!
Thank you!
Turned out really nice looking. Good tips.
Thank you!!!!
Wow Your a really Talented Young Lass Great Job

I was really impressed with this kind. It's made from synthetic fibers & helps control moisture
just finished the video amazing work looks fantastic 😎🤘
Impressed nice work
I like the way you did that!!
I'm going to try something like that myself.... Keep up the great work!!
Nice job it definitely looks sweet!
thank you! I was long overdue!

I used your technique on my Baja bug but I used a moving blanket. Looks good but I do have some wrinkles in the back
Do you have a video where you did the door and rear panels?
Beautiful Caroline your great!❤👍
That looks really cool. Great idea. I might try it on my bug
Sure you will.
That looks pretty great! I expect you will notice less noise while you drive too. Nice job! Thanks for sharing.
So far I have!! I love the sound difference and had held up so well!
That looks really good! We'll have to replace the factory headliner on one of our Bugs and this looks like an excellent way to do it.

hahaha I ruined the old "stock" headliner that was originally in the car, with sparks hahah
It looks great great 👍 job on it
Thanks 👍
Any new update to it and did you add new things ?
Looks good, real good!
Beautiful!!!
I follow you on Instagram and just found your yt channel....old car guy here, and you are an inspiration....great video!!!

@HHWheels one year later, is the headliner still holding up well? I'm considering using your idea on my 63 beetle
How is it holding up with summer heat? Any snagging?
Great job 🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪
Thank you! 😍
Nice inspirational creative work ,love it #wingingit 🤙🏻
Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Nice job. That’s a lot of work with a prefab one let alone doing it custom like that.
Thank you! Although it can be a bit of a technique driven task, it's so worth it in the end!
What did you do above the wheel wells. ? Did you make panels for them too ?
Yes! We custom cut panels that are a similar shape to the area, which were cut from an MDF board. It’s very similar to particle board & is readily available at most hardware stores
Cool video

Awesome
Excellent beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Epic👍
very kool!
How many yards did it take for your headliner and side panels.
I believe we used 6 yards. We did have a decent amount left over. But that fabric came in 3 yard packs
@@HHWheels thank you for the info
Why didn't you use the headliner clips that are built into your bug?
Success!!
ممتاز . عمل متقن سلام من الجزاءير
is the headliner still stick to the roof 1 year later??
You bet! Still looks new!
@@HHWheels nice, im gonna do my bug headliner the same way as yours, love it
🤙🏼
😍💕
BUG LOVE!!!
❤❤
More headroom
I probably would have scotch-brite scuff the ceiling so the glue has something really good to grab onto that's just me
THANK YOU THANK YOU I'm on my way to ASHLEY for materials 📌
Sweet, send us a pic after your done. Thx for watching 🤙
Oh shit it really is just cardboard hahahah that's so cool!!!
Yes!! I wasn’t kidding! It worked for a year, but the sag had to go!!

Nice job but way to much talking
