to all Tipper fans: I appreciate the enthusiasm, but can people please chill out a bit about the idea of me going to see him live? I'm unfortunately stuck in the Chicago area and am not in a good enough place to travel long-distance to see him, he'd have to come somewhere close enough to where I live where I'd be able to come back home in the same night. my current financial situation is a big part of that, yes, but there's other logistical variables playing into that too so this isn't meant as a request for money. I'm aware that time and opportunities to see him live are running out what with his retirement on the horizon, but spamming me with comments about how great his live show is and how incredibly important it is that I personally see him before that time runs out isn't as helpful as you think it is also with all due respect, the sheer amount of people I've gotten hyping up Tipper's live shows and begging me to go see him is kinda doing more to throw me off than excite me? I feel like people are putting a level of pressure on this show that doesn't seem entirely healthy to me. if all the stars align and he does come to Chicago and I am able to score a ticket and see him, what happens if I only have a regular old good time like any other concert instead of some kind of life-defining religious experience as people are making his shows out to be? will y'all be offended by that in the same way a few of you were at my more lukewarm thoughts on some of his studio output? that's not saying I think the live experience is equivalent to the studio recordings, y'all have already made it EXTREMELY clear how much of a misconception that would be, and don't just say "well going to your first Tipper concert without having your life fundamentally changed is physically impossible" and continue to insist your experience is the be all and end all, I'm not you so there's no way to know that for sure, and I feel like the higher y'all try to set those expectations the less likely he's actually going to live up to them. also I don't smoke or do any drugs, so if you feel that's also a necessary part of the equation that's kind of just going to make it look less appealing to me tbh (tho nobody's actually said or implied that to be the case one way or the other, just kind of pre-empting people just in case) I'm sure Tipper's concerts are great, I'm sure I'd have a plenty fun time if I am able to go, I'm fully open to the idea that he can live up to all the hype and if he does come close enough to where I live then of course I'll make sure I can get a ticket. but if that opportunity doesn't come, imo that's not the end of the world, you don't need to act like my entire life depends on it
We need to start this man a gofundme to get him to a show. Tipper irl is fucking crazy. Every single song is a remix or VIP. Definitely worth the money!
@@Spunion95 While I agree, considering Tipper's health I'd get the sets that are planned as of now. Hard to say if he'll continue with things like normal next year or not at this stage.
@@CellzRKewl OD already said they have things in the works for next year. Tipper's condition is life altering, not life threatening. Let's get this dude to a proper T&F. If anyone would fully appreciate that level of curation, it's him.
So the “warping percussive” sounds on Mason is actually Mason Jars filled with water. The warping sound happens when you strike them while tilting the jar at different angles. It’s pretty fun to mess around with. Different size jars and different levels of water can alter your sound in many ways.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, you owe it to yourself to see a Tipper show. He produces music with the intention of being heard live- and there really is nothing like it! And his music inspires an incredibly talented community of artists, musicians, VJs. I travelled to every Tipper show this year and between the music and the people it's been the best year of my life. Awesome review, I hope to see you at an event someday!
Massive recommendation! I’ve recorded my review and now watching yours. I saw you share this a few weeks back and checked it out. Review on the way next week👀
Listened to it, and oh man I actually had fun with this. The uptempo production that’s on display here never gets old for me. Everything here ranging from the synth choices to the production overall is damn near top notch material. This whole project sounds so funky and yet so insane and I love it, and I especially love the tracks Guilty Feet and Rancid Shuff in particular as well. Damn, when it comes to coming across new gems this year, November 2022 is absolutely on a roll so far, with this and the new Solar Fields album being no exceptions to that. Definitely hanging on to this!!!
Solar fields new album 🫠🫠🫠 He played animals back at solasta in like 2017 during a sunrise set. His music at max volume on a pair of funktions was easily better than any tipper show 😅 The crescendos glued me to my chair
Deal with it VIP actually isn’t a VIP, it’s a new track that he told me he named a VIP cause he wanted to use the intro from the OG track and didn’t wanna confuse people
Makes sense, I suppose it's kind of a gray area. A lot of VIP tracks sparsely sample their originals. It definitely sounds new and familiar at the same time.
Spotted the new Mount Kimbie record in your Bandcamp purchased list 😀 glad you liked it enough to purchase and hope to hear your thoughts on it whether in a review or SIM episode!
Hey bud! Tickets out of your price range? Get in touch and I’ll buy you a ticket for the next tipper and friends in Florida. I’d love to hear your reactions to a live set, that would be such a fun time 😂
love the review and you definitely gotta catch a live show from the man at some point! you should also definitely make a review of the new jade cicada album!
Hey, there's a bunch of people in the Tipper community who want to pitch in to get you to a tipper show! Reach out to me and let's figure out how to make this happen. Not sure where you're at but the only one on the books now is Snowta in MN. If you're into it let's make it happen!
I am really trying, have been getting comments with this exact sentiment like every two weeks for the past few months, but it's very difficult for me to leave Chicago and he doesn't play anywhere near to where I can get to
While I appreciate this review. When it comes to Tipper it is ALL ABOUT THE LIVE SETS!! I'm a die hard fan. And if I'm being honest it's kind of rare for me to play his music on a regular basis. But I try to get to every live set possible. So i guess what I'm saying is I would strongly suggest seeing him live before judging him as a producer.

Saw tipper twice this year. Best 2 hours of my life hands down. Seeing it live with the funktion1 speakers is unmatched experience.

Listening to tipper over speakers is equivalent to reading versus watching Shakespeare being performed

This makes perfect sense and what I thought when I found out the song name after tipper n friends. But man that track was obliteration live.

Don't forget Plaid's new album!
of course I won't lol. their albums always need some time to sink in tho
I honestly didn’t listen to the review and listened to the background music. That alone tells me that this is a great album.
Review suggestion: Access to Arasaka - Oppidan =)
:Port EP is stellar
Go to a show
he'd need to come to Chicago first. but if he does I'll be looking into it
