You just have to love Baglietto, a shipyard with over one century of a rich and amasing history ranging from fishing vessels to military fast hulls to some of the most astonishing sailing yachts. One of them was used in the Blue Label Johnnie Walker advert (it's more a movie with Jude Law and Giancarlo Giannini) called 'A Gentleman's Wager'. Baglietto is in my top 5 forever.
I like that you refuse to market poor quality on your channel. That gives a strong impression that if the yacht or brand is on your channel then it one you approve of.
Definately liked this combination format. Great stuff, you've absolutely come into your own in this. If they ever bring back Lifestyles Of The Rich And The Famous, you should be the host.

Thank you for answering some tricky questions. Re expsoning/critiquing yacht builders: so true, that's not what this channel is about. My mother (and I'm sure many people's mothers) always said "if you don't have anything good to say, then don't!" Such a great piece of advice for all things in life. There is a place for honest critique of course on TH-cam (Ave is a great example) but that is done from a particular perspective, and done really well. Thanks again.

Hi David. Another great video. Baglietto are stunning designed yachts. I'm looking forward to the factory tours, return to Numarine, Bering and especially Silent yachts 80. Thanks 😊
Baglietto made my favorite yacht of them all, the Panam. The Dom line continues to be a work of art looking like a fine italian villa on the water combined with a muscle car. They should have kept the full name of Domus instead of shortening it, latin has a way of coming off as powerful and eternal.
You need to look at the new Fleming 85 which is under build right now. It is a little small for your usual people, but TONY has made a big impact on the yachting industry. He is a great fellow.
I'm looking forward for your shipyards tour vlogs. A question slightly related to the current perception of the value of yachts: What make the price of a (new build) yacht? Research and development, design, technicality, material, manpower, equipment, size, etc...
It's nice to have a superyacht, and the next purchase has to be your very own island. Your own dock and build a nice garden and estate, the ultimate survivalist - leave the world and their problems behind and enjoy your own paradise. No troubles, no worries, nothing but peace and the life to come after...
As always, this video was incredibly informative especially in regard to the current status of Wider, I also had high hopes for the company and their approach to yacht design and propulsion. Thanks for helping to keep my dream of yacht ownership alive as for Now, it remains a dream.
Dear David, thank you very much for addressing the Russian business side of things. I greatly regret that it has come to this that people have to explain themselves and justify doing business with the Russians. Well, I suppose we only got ourselves to blame. But you are definitely right. There is a number of quite wealthy Russians that have made their money in a fairly honest way. There was a brief period of time when Russia was indeed a golden land of opportunity. Oh and your Baglietto video is great, thank you for making it, it’s a great shipyard
Nice yacht and it seems like a great shipyard. I am looking forward to maybe seeing behind the scenes of the yard, as well as the others you have done. Have you made your list of yachts to film at Monaco in September? Hopefully one of them is the Bennett BYond.
Not one single yacht channel ever says anything negative about any yacht. That's just the way this business works, if you didn't enthuse about the product, you'll never be invited again. By anyone.
Sad to hear about Wider. The 165 had so many great concepts, from space saving for more toys, to crazy efficient propulsions systems. The only yacht close to the Wider concept is the 37 B.Yond at this point. Hybrid is definitely the future. I'm glad to hear Feadship and Heesen are leading the way in Hybrid systems adoption, but for me, Wider really made that technology seem 'here and now,' rather than 5-10 years down the road. Maybe Wider was 'too ahead' of the curve, and this was all a plot to slow down Hybridization efforts. One never knows...
Dear Allan, dont be sad, we are very much alive and working full speed ahead. Our mutual frind David is not updated as we have a 72 meters under construction (sold) in our new superyacht facility in Venice and five Widercat 92 under construcito (all sold) in our facilities in Ancona and Fano. Hi David always have wondered which brand of engines are the most reliable/least prone for issues because like car engines every brand has a reputation, are there certain brands of engines to prioritize when it comes to reliability?
Thanks for the update on Wider. While I didn't care much for the yachts as such (just my private preference), I'm completely in love with the concept of diesel-electric with a forward 'non-engine room'. And, I'm still wondering if it was the concept that failed, or just the company behind it. Regardless of the difficulty of starting up a new brand/business, it's hard to imagine a company folding if people are clambering to buy the product? I'd dearly love to hear from a captain and engineer who's actually worked on the 150 about their experience. I've seen no other yachts like that since. While there are diesel-electric yachts out there, they are all (from what I've seen) with traditional placing of the 'non-engine room'.
I think Wider did the step larger, then its legs. Tilli started well and the 40 model was what Wider was about, followed by the 32 and the announced but never seen 55/60 model. I was excited about all this, cause it reminded me about how Pershing started. 45 in 1985, 30, 52, 40, 70, 57 etc etc Then came the co-ownership with the Asian owner (was it Thai) and the announcement of the 120, or was it a 115 first. Anyways then Tilli walking out, and from a Wider (a boat which becomes Wider) it became a an Electric Hybrid which was ahead of anything else before it. Then again a ownership change after or just before the 150 launch. Too many owners at this point, but I do think that Wider stopped being Wider when Tilli left. It is not easy for a brand to be what it is meant to be, when the man behind it all leaves. Returning to this kudos to Ferretti Group, who for example never lost the plot with Pershing.

@@mauriziomagri6303 Thank you very much for answering me. Of course you'd expect some minor problems with a new project/concept. I've seen many new yachts with diesel-electric, but none with forward placed 'machinery'. Then again, it's very hard to find layouts on new builds in general. To my thinking, it offers a much better use of space in layouts, but I'm no engineer, so weight distribution etc is beyond me. With a full displacement though, it should be the way to go. Looking forward to more of these yachts.
Great channel! Following up on the Wider issue, for the past year I've been narrowing down shipyards where to build an under 50m yacht and Wider was on my top 2. The other one being Bering. By your expertise, do you actually recommend them ? Keep up the good job! Looking forward to finally meeting you and doing business with you.
Hi Federico, thanks for your comment. My best advice to you would be to think carefully about how you would like to use the yacht. Are you planning to cruise extensively, even in remote locations? Is speed important to you or are you happy to cruise at 8 knots and enjoy your surroundings? Will you have family and friends with you who enjoy water sports? So many considerations to take into account...feel free to get in touch when it is time to pull the trigger.
I really liked Baglietto yachts. I can see why they have a full order book. It was sad to hear about Wider. I was one who did ask about them in a comment on one of your videos. I would have reservations about purchasing any yacht from a company with such obvious management issues. Who would want to plunk down 30 to 50 million dollars with a company that is unstable? Wider's reputation has been destroyed and coming back from that will be a long slow grind. A successful delivery of a substantial yacht would get things moving, but finding the right buyer, who with the balls to take the risk, will be difficult. I was very disappointed when Wider was sold the first time. It appeared to me that it was an effort to cash-in on the huge potential of Wider. The second sale was nothing but a "yard sale". It is my firm belief that to build a successful yacht brand the owner must be driven by a love of yachts, not money. No great yacht builder has ever been motivated by the idea of making a quick buck. Lurrsen, Heesen, Benetti and many others were founded by people who loved yachts. I fear Wider will fall by the wayside in the history of yacht building. I apologize for my ranting, but I get very angry when I see incompetence and mismanagement destroying what could have been a force in the yachting industry.

Imperial Yachts does a large part of the Russian market and they are in the toilet. That's a great question. First of all we have to establish that the seller is prepared to ACCEPT payment in Crypto, and then consider whether the buyer has the necessary funds in crypto. Sometimes a broker just has to let the deal run it's course; the 10% deposit needs to be paid at a fairly early stage in the transaction so time-wasters can quickly be flushed out.
@@YachtsforsaleblogThank you for the reply David. The 10% deposit can actually be made in fiat of the sellers choice instead of crypto. Can I assume that your lack of coverage of nordhavn is that you don't have much respect for them?
I have HUGE respect for them. Just haven’t had many opportunities to get on board them.
@@Yachtsforsaleblog glad I'm wrong then .can't wait to see. More reviews. Hope I didn't offend
@@Yachtsforsaleblog anymore on the 140 they are building?
@@paulcunningham2859 Not at all - I'm glad you asked 😁
@@paulcunningham2859 I don't have any first hand information, but hope to catch up with them at the Cannes Show in September and find out. If possible I'll also visit the yard before then...although the diary is getting very full!
Can you please explain why you always refer to the owner of a yacht as a male It is a bit old fashion these days seen that one of the largest yachts in the world is owned by an Australian Woman.

Love your show but nobody “sold” anything that implies too much agency…reality is a buyer bought it …the buyer appraised himself or herself of the specifications and the price and they decided to acquire the asset …as salespeople we overestimate ourselves at our peril
Is it all Russians you can’t deal with now or still just the ones on a sanction list
did an english guy say there's corruption in Russia ? how ridiculous, look at your own country before you speak about any other.
What a very odd comment. I actually said that you shouldn’t tar all Russians with the same brush. They are not all corrupt.
@@Yachtsforsaleblog Maybe you need to watch your own video.
@@FireTheHoker Nope...just rewatched it. I said "it's a misconception that ALL Russians got their money illegally".
@@Yachtsforsaleblog 9:54 "There is as we all know a lot of corruption in Russia" be a man and own up to what you say for christ's sake.
@@FireTheHoker You clearly have a huge chip on your shoulder. Yes, there's corruption in Russia, and yes there's corruption in the UK, America, and a whole lot of other countries. The context of the video was answering a question about Russia though, and if you listened without so much ridiculous prejudice deafening you, you would have heard that I said that there are also a lot of honest, hard working Russians. I stand by my comments.
Talk talk talk 👎
I’m guessing you prefer books with only pictures and not too many words too?
Lol David
