How To Sound Deaden A Car Door - Part 1: Introduction & Door Panels

- Hey everyone! This is the first of three videos that make up our How To Sound Deaden A Car Door video series! Please note, if the video is not in timelapse, I am sharing relevant info that relates directly to the installation.
For this install, we are using our ResoNix Stage-3 Door Sound Deadening Kit, which can be found in the link below. This is the most common method of treatment that we see from our customers and deal with ourselves due to its level of performance without going bonkers.

It features
. ResoNix CLD Super Max Mega Pro CLD Squares to reduce resonance
. ResoNix Fiber Mat 45 (although we used Fiber Mat 25 due to space constraints in this vehicle) for sound absorption and decoupling of the door panel
. ResoNix Guardian for midbass rear-wave sound absorption
. ResoNix Butyl Rope as an all-purpose spot treatment product
. ResoNix CCF Decoupler 3S for tight-tolerance areas that need decoupling
. ResoNix CCF Strips to couple the midbass drivers to the door panel grille opening for getting the best midbass performance.
We also ended up using ResoNix CCF Decoupler 3F, as well as discuss the use of ResoNix Barrier in certain applications.

All joking aside, this a great tutorial on how to properly do a pro level sound treatment task.
Products are top shelf! The fiber mat made a noticeable difference in lowering the cabin noise level.

Thanks for this, I got the level 2 kit. I noticed you avoided covering those 6 large black screws (rivets?) in the middle with CLD but covered them with fiber mat. I'm guessing those aren't important for servicing? Hard to tell without seeing the other side of the panel.
Just didn't want to go over anything that may be needed in the future.
I have a quick question. What's is the weight increase per door after all of those installation?
I use a quality hair dryer to get things warm, versus hot, when I need a little heat.

I am really confused about these door isolations. Don't they just absorb moisture and rot the door from the inside out ? Since its completely normal for water to go in the door and is supposed to exit from below
Not at all. I suggest taking a look at our product spotlight videos. They will help shed some light on why this is the case :)

Actually, dampening the door, starts with the door itself. Far more important than the doorcard. There are usually a minimum of resonance at the doorcard, its the outer panel of the door that needs attention.

Great content! Learned a lot about car audio from you and your videos and contributions on DiyMa. I’m planning to apply the resonix level 3 kit to my 2024 Accord Hybrid Touring. If you have experience with my car, should I go with the 0.5 or the 1.0 “ option for my front doors? Thanks Nick🙏🏼
