    At about 7 minutes in I'm watching you hang the rope and I'm thinking this just shows your attention to detail. I know it'll be covered by the deck and even if someone were to look carefully they'd probably struggle to even spot that detail, so most people probably wouldn't even put it there. But you do it what because while others may not know about it, you do. I have so much respect, not just for your skill but also for your attitude towards your work here.

    I've been watching your channel now for just under a month and I've grown accustomed to being awestruck in some way with every episode I watch. I have been in this hobby for more than 50 years. The techniques I use are mostly transferred from model airplanes. I've never in my life encountered another model ship builder that I could share tips and techniques with, so the learning curve has been long and slow. In every one of your videos I see something that I can take away and add to my own set of skills. I have not run into another channel that is as good as your channel. The photography is so good at showing us exactly what you're doing with so much detail. I've never had a mentor for model shipbuilding, but I have one now. Thank you so much

    Wait. What? I don't recall model kits like this when I was a kid. You open the box and all the parts were in there.
    You didn't have to cut them out on a table saw. Great hammer action in this one. Nice nails as well :)

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is only if you want to add other wood to the kit for variety. Because this kit has only a walnut, which makes the model very monochrome, so I added a few shades to my version of the carrack (Hicory and American black walnut)...

    Всё же на сколько женские пальцы длиннее, тоньше и ловчее! У меня на 72м масштабе пальцы часто сносят мелкие элементы, как ядро из 12ти-фунтовки. 🤣 100 масштаб я только после бутылки водки могу делать, в трезвом виде в эту мелочь меня не заманишь. 😂😂 А у Вас просто порхают по этой Каракке.
    Как вам по качеству киты хорватской MARIS STELLA? Я их у вас впервые увидел, в Канаде либо Корел, либо Латина, либо Амати, либо британская Jotika. И то, днём с огнём не найти.

    Without further compliments on your skills, it happens I'm now detailing a hand-made, 1/24 scale WWII US vessel, but lacking the some of the knowledge of the techniques required to add some of those details:
    First example:
    The top of the W/L "red" is pretty easily established from WWI photos and the mounting of the model is such that a height gauge (as a machinist, I got one of those ) seems to define the top of that red (close enough to fool my eye or yours) as a given height above the table it's on.
    But how do I mark the hull for masking? Pencil lines? If so above the paint lines or below? A (minor) scribe from the height gauge, again, above or below?
    Planning on using Tamaya spray paints if that makes a difference.
    Certainly appreciate any expertise you can offer.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov

      Sometimes in hard-to-reach places it is easier to do with a plane than to try to sand there and it is much faster, especially when you need to remove a large array of wood...

    It measures approx 1mtr x 30 x 30 cm. I have no idea what it is, as it literally is just the hull.

    Hello, what is the idea of scrapping down the deck?

    • @SQSNSQ
      @SQSNSQ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is called "fairing" and it is also done during construction of a real wooden ships. Due to inevitable variations in planks thickness and the way each individual plank attaches to the underlying beams, the deck (or hull side) surface becomes uneven and bumpy. So the planks are plained to make the surface smooth and even with no steps between the planks.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว
