    Simply awesome. I've seen the instruction for making a mouse in Mondfeld's book, but I've never imagined that I would see somebody doing this tedious work in reality. I'm deeply impressed.

    When I first saw the word "mouse" in the title, I was expecting to see the hairball doing some kind of mischief. What I did see was an amazing display of skill and precision that all looked so effortless.
    As I've commented before, I will probably never use all of the techniques you demonstrate, but each in some way have inspired me to raise the level of my own builds. Thank you for that.
    Well done

    Great video. It is inspiring to me watching how much effort you put into every detail. You never get lazy or cut corners. In my first two projects I used a bead or just a knot...
    My third project is just beginning and I will add this proper mouse to my stays. More importantly I will be taking the time on each individual step to research how to do it right. No more cutting corners or good enough work for the sake of time you and some others have made me want to strive for more.
    In the end of you painted the mouse black… was that just some acrylic or something else? Tia wish you well.

    As always, incredible work. Leather dye will also be handy for "tarring" a mouse (and cleans up with IPA). You should look into getting a set of the short-jaw suture scissors. The cut is as fine as the diagonal cutters you are using, and less dependent on pinching the two cutting edges together.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว

      Short-jawed sewing scissors have a slightly different purpose and cannot cut the thread without leaving a tail! It is better to use a fine cuticle scissors for manicure - they are able to cut the thread close to the seizing. I use nippers, because I impregnate ropes and threads with CA glue and the rope becomes hard (like a wire), so you can get a perfect close cut with nippers...

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Зажигалка должна только вспихивать что б не сжечь 100% полиестеровие нитки. Иногда я их умЬІшленно ломаю, чтоб они давали минимальную вспишку... А "длиннЬІе" зажигалки не имеют даже регулиповки пламени и поетому просто сожгут такелаж за секунду... Мои вообще все турбо))) - зрелищное видео может получится...

    I’m curious, if you were to build one of the cheap $25 1:100 or 1:96 Amazon kits, do you think you can make it look amazing? Using all the kit parts but only adding or modifying anything you want.
    Unlikely but that would be fun to watch to see the highest potential of one of those kits and maybe you’ll even fail because the quality is so low lol.
    Anyway, can’t wait for the next video.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, those kis are only formed in the shape of a ship without even taking into account the scale and do not have any historical authenticity! So you can see, for example, on a carrack, even a steering wheel, which did not even exist at that time))) Those models can only be fixed by a fireplace...

      Thickening of the stay to prevent the tightening of the eye around the masthead

      @@OlhaBatchvarov I don't know a lot about sailing ships but couldn't they just use a block of wood around the Rope to prevent the rope from over tightening or a block and tackle

      @@OlhaBatchvarov maybe I misunderstanding this does that Mouse work kind of like a shock absorber so as the ship flexes and the mass flex and move that nodding of rope gives contracts and expands and absorbs the energy like a shock absorber in a car?

      Makes sense that it functions like a car shock absorver.

    I just thought you should know that I never received my viking longboat from your friend the model maker in Ukraine. He messed up my address and the package was sent back and he blames me for the mistake. No idea if he even tried to resend it or not. Either way the whole event has soured me towards ever even trying to build a ship model. I hope you and your family has a pleasant holiday.

      I am sure that Pavel will send your package again! If it was a new kit, and not from those in stock in Europe, he sends it from Kyiv. And it was physically difficult to do this, because a lot of power lines were damaged in the last month and the post offices simply did not work. I waited more than a month until he was able to finally send me the package, but it will probably come after the new year... You can write to him in feedback - he will respond in 2-3 days when the Internet appears. The last time he scared me because he didn't get in touch for a whole week and I knew that a missiles hit not far from his workshop. But thank God he is fine and the workshop is not damaged! It's a challenge now to try to work in a country where there is a war...

      @@OlhaBatchvarov point taken, I had no idea his shop is located in Kyiv and that close to a combat area. I hope everyone can stay safe and may this war and madness find a swift conclusion.
