Very nice pattern, as Utah Trout Bum commented, it might not be the Roza’s Dark Neon but I’m sure it fishes. I tie a fly very close to this fly in different variations and bead sizes and my kids and grandkids just call it a Blowtorch. They call a Tasmanian Devil a Blowtorch too. All this tag and CDC patterns are very productive. I tie a lot of patterns that I might call an Iron Lotus or a Thread Frenchie but they don’t necessarily look like Lance Egan’s originals but they catch gobs of fish every year. This is a Great looking fly that produces. I use it a lot when I want my grandkids or someone new to fly fishing to be successful. I want their success to be addictive, as in lots of fun!
Merry Christmas. Thank you for watching and commenting! This is a new fly for me. As a comcept, I think tag flies make a lot of sense. I’ve found them to be productive when the turbidity of the water is high and I need something visible.
This is not a Dark neon. The original had a Hends angel hair tag, peacock black body and red wire rib. It’s a nice looking pink tag pattern. Just not Lubos Roza’s.
Yep. It's a variation. I changed the wire color and the CDC collar. Just wanted to present the concept of a tag nymph. I mention Olsen's blowtorch as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
