Yeap i agree with Phil Anderson @ Shady Acres Woodshop. When he said " TH-cam's Master Segmented Turner!" That inside and bottom extra work was amazing. Thank You for sharing and keep em coming !
Thanks so much. I do love segment work and other types of glue up turnings. The inside and the outside was an after thought and happy I did it. Thanks again for watching. Gary
This artwork is so special form this piece just think will be around 200 years from now and you would have left the part of yourself on this Earth to live on so we're turning is a very special form of art and a part of yourself nice piece
You are very welcome and I love your comments...very well done. I do have the Cherry Plum done and I just had to run this one first. And it really turned out nice. I will run it in 2 weeks. Take care my friend, Gary
That does it, Gary. I declare you "TH-cam's Master Segmented Turner!" All of your segmented work is great but this one, maybe because of the barrel shape, is my favorite. Beautiful and useful. And the finish! You knocked it out of the park! And yeah, I kept trying to get a peek at the inside and you just weren't letting me! LOL! Nice surprise, inside and bottom. Really great job, Gary! Keep'em coming, my friend, and stay safe and healthy. Phil
Thank you Phil and I actually had video showing the inside and clipped it out. The barrel shape sort of developed on its own. But you know how that works. We think we know what we want and then when something shows up it is time to stop. I just came in from working on another glue up that is a nightmare of joints! Not to worry I have 3 beautiful bowls that are from logs. But they are scheduled 2 weeks out. I am doing a sort of a challenge next Friday that will be fitting for what we are all going through right now. Speaking of which I know it was bad up in your area so be safe and healthy as well. Gary
Good idea shaping and finishing the bottom rings liek you did...you folow this with the rest of the rings...looks great a very nice finish...cool idea with the bottomand inside blocks
Hi Gary....wow !!! That barrel is spectacular..I don't think that I have seen a more beautiful form ....the final touches on the bottom and inside are its crowning glory...very well done...take care in these crazy times....All the best.....Andy
Thank you Andy I am pleased you like it. I almost showed what I was putting on the inside bottom but I edited that out so it could be a surprise. Glad I did! Yes very crazy times for sure. In California below is they are shutting most everything down. It is a day to day thing...you take care as well my friend. Gary
As a quilter, I'm very partial to the tumbling blocks pattern. Seeing it made from beautiful woods is a treat. Thanks for sharing your wonderful skills.
Thank you Nan, I could put cookies in it but I would have to eat all of them right away before they got stale. LOL Here is one I did that would make a nice cookie jar and has a lid. th-cam.com/video/8VuNwmfWtAw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ThePapa1947 Thanks for watching, Gary
A bunch of years ago I learned how well that spray lacquer works out. I built and finished a Thompson-Center Hawken Rifle kit. I used the spray lacquer on the stock on multiple coats, wet/dry sandpaper to 800 grit, and the stock had a finish like glass. Like your barrel of blocks, you could turn the stock and as the light hit different parts of the grain, it would flash a glow. Your barrel is ten times that and absolutely knocks your eye out. Really wonderful work.
Hi Gary, that's a beautiful piece. Would make a great ice bucket but would need a suitable segmented top. While turning I couldn't place the orange coloured wood but you said it was padauk. It certainly brought out that ring. Almost like tigers eye stone. Thanks for making and posting the video. Regards from Canada's banana belt.🤔🇬🇧😃🕊️🇺🇦🍌🇨🇦👍
Thank you Ron. Padauk goes nice with almost any other lighter wood. I still have thoughts of making a lid for this. Ice bucket might need a liner. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you very much. I do enjoy making them and have something else I have been thinking on but have not worked out all the kinks in my head yet. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you Judith. They are fun to do. When I made that feature ring I cut out enough for 2 rings so I probably will make something using it and some other rings I duplicated. Thanks for watching, Gary
Well good morning again Gary , well I licked that parallelogram issue.Went out and spent a few bucks on a starrett fractional dial calipers.and thanks to you l nailed it first try. As a matter a fact after I cut three pieces and try fit them I said out loud GARY WHO but did not mean it one bit. If it was not for your advice I most likely would have moved on to something else.thank you very much. Have a great day. Rick Knapp
Good morning Rick...and it is morning here 5:58am. Well that is great news and what a great way to start the morning. But like I said it is actually pretty easy to do. Now that you have that you will be able to make a 6 point star as well. Thanks for the great news it is great to hear. Gary

Beautiful turning Gary. Great instructional video. You never cease to amaze me, you have the patients of Job, the mind of Einstein and the hands of Michael Angelo.
