I only bought the ultimate pack and I haven’t bought any extra moonstones since. I bought one premium shop item. It’s frustrating because you get so much more for the money in other games.
Considering my long-standing theory that those 16 roped off Doors in the Castle are probably going to be Premium realms, I agree completely they should adjust some of the Premium prices to a more reasonable rate or make it easier to acquire Moonstones in-game. Such as being able to craft a few from a medley of rare minerals. Otherwise, most players (including myself) won't be able to afford to open many of these Realms. Which I imagine will cost 5,000+ each?
The pricing is simply too high for many of the items. I completely understand (and respect) that they need to make money, but the amount for some items is insane.
I literally can't tell you how disheartening it is to not be able to buy things that look amazing because they're overpriced and I am broke and live paycheck to paycheck.
@@Serrohthank you for making this video. All of the influencers I follow are all as upset as you are. But you're the first video I've seen thus far speaking about it. You're literally making the video we all needed but everyone was afraid to make.
Literally a SAHM where my husband works and we live paycheck to paycheck as well. I miss out on a lot of things on this game and its heart breaking. I love disney and everythign about it, but this overpricing and not thinking about the people just doesn't make me want to play it.
What they should do: put these premium items in limited time events for people to unlock through quests and completing tasks. Once the event is over, those who missed out can buy in the Premium Shop
They should but that wouldn't be making them as much money. They're totally being greedy. It's sad because I love this game. It's almost like they're praying on adults who want to relive their childhood.
@@torridmess Hopefully they can figure out an in-between. There are missed opportunities where we could’ve earned those Nefarious Tool skins as a limited time event with this Remembering Update. Or they literally could’ve had a limited time event with those new WALL-E quests, with the reward being the new dapper WALL-E outfit you can equip. It would’ve also kept the community busy while they work on future updates. They really should go back and work on their relationship with their players, to a point where some of us wouldn’t mind paying a little extra to support them later down the road
I agree if you miss the event then it would be great to put it in premium shop so people can be happy that they still get the chance to get the items they have missed
I feel very pressured by GameLoft because they have great things that I want to get but at ridiculous prices and if I didn’t get them items then GameLoft would make me miss out on them.
These aren’t microtransactions. These are full grown adult transactions. Nothing has been worth more than $5 tbh (house maybe but only bcz they added placing multiple)
This just made me realize, this game is probably going to be played by a bunch of kids when it releases free to play and no way a 10-12 year old could afford any of this!
Thank you for being bold by simply being honest. You laid out your argument in a way that is valid, makes sense, in a constructive, non-complaining way. You emphasize that though you love the game, you, like many of us, are disappointed. I hope other creators will follow suite and be more concerned about what’s right and not just what’s popular. The more people voice honest constructive criticism, the more likely (we hope) the developers will be to listen. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I respect that you’ve been speaking up about the insane prices and bugs in the game since day one! IMO the game’s graphics are not even that good for the prices they are charging. The design IDEAS are good, but not the execution. And yet they think these crazy prices are sustainable. We’re possibly heading into a recession and you want us to spend hundreds of dollars when we barely have things to do in the game? It’s not worth it. Honestly,I feel like their plan is to gouge us until no one can pay anymore and then they will abandon the game. They really aren’t in it for the long haul.
Well... gameloft is kind of known for abusing predatory monetization practices in their game only to leave it to die once people stop spending. I dont have much hopes for this either tbh...
Good on you for sticking up for the community! These prices are crazy! We’re apart of the early access, they should treat us how other games have treated their early access customers.
Thankyou for keeping it real and being so honest about this! The prices are absolutely extortionate especially compared to other games. It's so frustrating seeing people be like "well I can afford it so I don't see why it's an issue". Most of us live in the real world and casual gamers simply can't afford this stuff.
Every other free to play game at least has a few other ways to obtain in game currency, so it’s a choice to either grind hard to get it or pay to play. It’s unfair to only provide random spawning moonstone chests or pay!
They could easily change the daily Dreamlight Quests to give Moonstones instead of Dreamlight.. Make them limited to 20 per day or whatever but getting random chests with 50 a day is just what Uncle Scrooge would do
I'm so mad, they said this was the biggest update? We got 1 character, 1 short storyline, a suuuuuper short star path with lack luster prizes, all the interesting anything is paid for. Its just ridiculous
It’s so nice to see TH-camr that actually speaking on behalf of people that don’t want to spend real money on this game!! I’m from Canada I spent 100+ dollars just getting one of the founders packs. Because that how much it cost in Canada. I am refusing to spend any more money on this game because it’s not free to play. We paid money for this game! It’s not complete it’s broken and I’m playing on the switch which means it’s crashing constantly. I’ve had to restart over twice I don’t have all the quest lines finished so I still have a little bit of gameplay but I don’t wanna pick up the game anymore because I would like to play this game to completion and collect all the items and I can’t because they want money for the items. That’s complete BS! I don’t understand how they can justify us paying extra for a game that is not even fully complete! Another TH-camr was saying it’s because they want to pay their staff. How else do other people get paid on other video games that you pay full price with that have no micro transactions? I’ve paid full price for video games and there’s no expansions and there’s no micro transactions and guess what, the developers got paid! I don’t understand why people are defending Gameloft, the only reason I can think of people defending them is because they’re hard core Disney fans and they don’t want to see the game go under. This is just a company gouging people just so that they can make it big and I’m sorry but if I ever pick up this game again and finish this chapter, I’m done with the game after that!!
theyre not interested in that. Its all about making a quick buck. theyve done this with a bunch of their previous games. and also they are primarily working for the mobile market. ddv is nothing but a mobile game ported on other platforms.
Wow I am thankful you made a video about this! I love the game and yes the cosmetics look great, but they are INSANELY overpriced! That’s ACTUALLY crazy!
Ariel has been doing the helicopter with her hair and using her fork as the propeller since the update. Then they want 20 bucks for a new skin for your tools lol. K thanks.
The only purchases I've felt good about was the icy wings I think were like $6-7 and the corona set with the 6 pillars and 3 other items for $4-5. The community wants to spend money, just not that much.
You may have mentioned this, but the quests and storyline don’t take very long. So everyone gets hyped about it and then it’s over and done with. The only thing we can look forward to is the item shop (which is way too much money) or collecting new items from Scrooges store. Plus all the bugs, having to close and reopen all the time, it’s very frustrating.
I mean at first I was a little defensive in terms of “it’s early access they are testing the waters, they’ve been transparent, bugs take time to fix blah blah blah” but the more I think about it and finally someone actually taking the time to explain it I’m starting to see things differently. We’re paying Disney brand. So thank you for taking the time to explain it in a way that made me to start to see what others see 💜
Finally a TH-camr who calls it for what it is! Thank you. Once I finished the Forgetting or whatever this first half is called, I think I’m done. The Canadian prices are even more outrageous and as it stands now, I won’t be able to activate the August star path without paying real money, so ya it was fun while it lasted. ❤
This youtuber has been making this same video over and over since the store was implemented. Actually, most of the youtubers that showcase this game, has talked about it, constantly. What are you on about? I don't get why you are going to quit a game, just because of microtransactions (the game itself, is a good game). Why did you buy the game when you knew it was going to be free to play when it fully releases? And they are cosmetics, it has no impact on the game, yet its your main driving force for playing the game? You could just earn the cosmetics through time, but nope, the instant gratification is too much for you. Apply this reasoning to real life and you'd look crazy. Do you buy a car, to find out there were more features that you could have, but would have to pay more for, so you just toss the car out and not drive it anymore? I hope not. People have evolved to focus on the most stupid, mundane crap. It's sad.
Thank you for being our advocate, Serroh lol!! Incredibly informative and well researched video! I hope this reaches the eyes of many at the Gameloft Team so they can respond to the concerns so many of us share!
They arent going to respond and they never will. They dont give 2 shits as long as theres still enough people willing to dish out the cash despite being unhappy with the pricing
I don't share in this, you get free moonstones every day. You can eventually own those cosmetics through time, but alias, people want everything free and handed to them instantly.
@@donovan1345 man thats a fkn dumb Argument. Its not about getting anything for free. Its about the insane price target for some pixels. We are talking 12-15 item sets that get split into packs of 3 and they make you pay 7-10 dollars for every pack of 3 items, now multiply that by 5 for the whole set, you can buy a triple A title with that same amount of money, which definitely took more time and effort to develop than to make a couple furniture pieces. A character reskin for any of the valley characters should not cost 10 dollars. Stupid wings to carry on your Player characters back should not cost 15-25 bucks. Nobody wants shit for free but these prices are absolutely outrageous. And people like you add to the problem by normalizing it. Congrats I guess for being part of the minority of people who can afford to spend up to 200 bucks on the game every month. Reality is that most cant, and even if they could I personally could imagine better things to spend such crazy amounts of money on. There is absolutely nothing about these items that justifies this steep of a price tag
@@donovan1345 You're missing the point. The game isn't free yet, many paid up to $50 for the game. The transactions are too expensive for the items being offered. People have a right to speak out when they've paid for something. That is a consumer right.
Thank you for speaking up, loud and clear. I've been giving this exact message on reddit for people to wake up and open their eyes. Wish more content creators would speak about this because it's needed. We can't stay silent.
Honestly, kudos to you. People don't seem to understand that you can love a game, even be addicted to it, and still strongly disagree with corporate greed. It's crazy to see people defending being charged again and again for an ostensibly free to play game. Some platforms like Switch, still crash at least 3-4 times a day but we're still being expected to pony up over and over for everything from simple tool reskins to quests. Where will it end? It's not even so much that they want to charge for this stuff, it's HOW MUCH they are charging. Of course they aren't going to care or change anything but at least you have the guts to speak up and not kow tow like some other DLV streamers.
You basically described just about all video games, nowadays. And you "literally" didn't have to pay a dime for this game. You just needed to wait. But that's right, blame someone else for your misfortunes. Greed wouldn't work if people weren't obsessed with vanity.
Finally!! Someones not afraid to tell it how it is. I 100% agree. Im not purchasing anything else. Its still bugged, its still beta, and the lack of characters is rediculous. When Animal Crossing NH launched, we had like 300 characters off the bat!
It's nice to finally see someone speaking out about this. I love this game so much but I simply can't afford all the microtransactions they're shoving down our throats and the pricing of it all is outrageous. Especially since we only get 50 free Moonstones daily, they could at least bump it up to 100 (or give us other ways to earn them for free) but even then something needs to be done about pricing and the sheer amount of things they're starting to lock behind a paywall. Putting character skins in the premium store instead of the premium Star Path is so scummy especially since this time we only got ONE skin for the Star Path... and idk what they call themselves doing with the Dream Bundle but I'm so against that idea. I mean, paying *real money* for quests?? I understand the appeal was mostly for the outfits/WALL-E skin but come on, that could've been included in the Star Path! Idk I'm just really scared the game's going into a really bad direction so it's nice that there's at least one popular creator speaking out for the rest of us :'D
I really appreciate you and other creators speaking out! Honestly once I buy my moonstone pack, I stop paying attention to how much each item is actually costing. This game will not last long if this continues. New Frontiers / Chapter 2 / Jafar is going to cost more and I fear that characters will end up costing the pricing you mentioned, $30-50. They’ve listened to us on so many things that it’s blatantly obvious when they ignore us. We have to make them hear us!
We saw a massive attitude shift with them when update 5 dropped. Ignored us on giving a release date and now about this. They should know by now that we hold the power and if they want the game to last longer they need to be more transparent with us.
let’s be honest the game is GREEDY ! i’m so sick of people sticking up for the devs saying these prices are reasonable it’s NOT. thanks for putting out this video you’re the only creator who’s being real about this game.
I totally agree. As a collector myself I can't stress enough that there should be a wider variety of ways to collect items in game and the items they do sell shouldn't be limited time only so that people can save in game currency or real life money to buy items when they have the means. I don't mind buying items to support games I love but the prices are indeed unrealistic 😢
I'm starting to get the feeling that everything in this game is about money and that makes me very sad. I love this game, I was so excited with each update, but with each one the disappointment increases. There are so many expensive paywalls. I totally understand that this game needs to make money, but I believe they could make a lot more if they made the prince affordable. I think many of us would be willing to buy all the premium items in the shop if they weren't so expensive. Something I realized is that in the last two updates, we got two dream styles in each one. In this most recent update, we only got one and it's a dream style for Buzz, a short villager who is barely noticeable in the valley and it just looks like a recoloring of his suit. Although the star paths also have the premium version, the amount of moonstones spent on unlocking is completely fair, with so much cool furniture, clothing and dream styles and we can get a lot of moonstones back. Now we also get a dream style for Scrooge McDuck (and probably Merlin) at the same price as the star path.
Everything? Everything in the game is about money? When it fully releases and is free to play, will you be able to play the game and story without spending a penny? Yes, you will. I think it's funny when someone whines about the sin of greed, when they are the ones suffering from the sin of vanity. Greedy practices only work on those obsessed with vanity.
@@donovan1345 What are you talking about? I, as many other people, want to support this game. That's why we bought it in early access and that's why we are willing to buy premium items, because we love this game, because we want it to keep on expanding. The problem is that the prices that are being shown in the shop are absurdly high. We are giving our opinion, as we were asked to do during the early access period. Why is it a "sin" to give opinions or want to buy things that are meant to be bought? Why is it a "sin" to want to support the team? After all, this is a cozy game, it's meant to be, you know, cozy, a moment to relax, decorate our valleys and play in a fantasy world, with such beloved characters.
i agree 100%, i bought the tool skins because i liked how they looked and i use tools all the time. i will not be buying the character skins because they falsely advertised in the game that it was going to be linked to an event and thats what let me down. i agree with all your points. the large prices honestly dont surprise me anymore but it still doesnt make it acceptable. if they lowered their prices they would make more sales on the items and in the long run make more money for themselves
What's crazier, is people whining about paying for more digital goods, when they are basically useless to begin with. Is it for bragging rights? Wow, you bought something. *golf clap* lol
@@donovan1345 What's crazier is the corporate bootlickers whining about people calling out predatory business practice from a notoriously scummy company. Predatory practices such as putting out microtransactions with insanely high prices in a game that is pay to play and never actually going F2P.
DDV did said before they would only be charging cosmetic items for real money, yet they start charging for extra quest.. and the game is not even fully released yet
I 100% agree!!! Like I spent $70 on the game and then some just trying to get moon stones to be able to do the Star path. Like come on! Enough with the over pricing and micro purchases. I just want to play the game. Thanks for always sharing.
I commented on another DLV content providers channel about everyone just needs to stop buying so Gameloft gets the message and was told they are only buying so they can "help us" make informed decisions. No...helping us would be sending a message to Gameloft by not paying for these items. Thank you for this video. I still can't progress in my find the aliens quest because only 24 out of 25 aliens spawned in the very first part of the quest. They need to fix this game.
I agree!! My game glitches so much. I get so frustrated at times and ask myself am I really having fun? If they knew that the switch wouldn’t meet the criteria to be able to play it like all of the other platforms, they should’ve been upfront from the beginning. I’m not buying another gaming platform just to play this game!
@@ButterflyMamaoh my gosh thank you !!! i was definitely considering buying another platform to play bc it’s trash on the switch but by the looks of it this game is eventually gonna crash & burn so what’s the point ? the creators of this game are greedy ! & the ones spending crazy amounts of money on this game are crazy …
I first purchased the Deluxe Founders pack on Switch which was $50 (at first they only gave me the basic founders pack but after 4 months I got all the additional items I paid for). Recently I purchased the Ultimate founders pack on Epic Games, it was on sale and I paid $37. This gave me an additional 20,000 moonstones and the rest of the items that I was missing from founders pack. So in total I have spent $87 and I really don’t want to spend any more actual money into this game. It would take you 75 days to collect 3,750 moonstones for the extra premium item like house skins and I guess now royal tools skin. What I don’t understand is why they have decided NOT to increase moonstones. They increased moonstones when they first introduced the premium shop from 10 to 50. But in addition to premium shop, we now have the “dream” bundle options so I would have hoped they would have increased the daily moonstone chest to gain favor from the community. As much as I want to purchase everything from the premium shop I just can’t justify the price unless I really really love it. I am happy you are speaking out on this and I do wish more content creators do so as well. I’ll continue playing since I really do enjoy DDLV but if they do ever think about putting any character into the premium shop to join the valley just because they won’t affect the “main” storyline I might rethink it. Sorry for the long post but yeah sometimes the premium shop and now the “dream” bundle gets me heated lol😅
Thank you for speaking up, thats why you are my favourite content creator on this game, from speaking up issues on the unrelaesed community challenge reward, bugs that have not been fixed for a long time and now the Microtransactions. I barely buy anything from the premium shop and a hard no on the wall e dream bundle only because of the ridulous pricing
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's been shocked and disgusted by the prices from day-dot. I can't afford to cough up money for all this stuff, I live on a Disability Pension. I keep seeing people being like, "Oh but you don't HAVE to buy the stuff to play!" ....yet this game mainly consists of earning/purchasing cool items for decorating and such! And it sucks to not be able to get the cool items because it costs so much real money. Even worse, I live in Australia and our dollar is pretty bad, so we're supposed to pay $7.90 just for the smallest moonstone pack! Anyway, it's nice to see so many people are just as outraged at this. Maybe if we all complain enough, Gameloft might consider changing the prices, who knows.
They’ve also been saying they’re going to fix Scrooge’s store for the last two updates and mine is still broken. All I get from game loft is “we’re working on it”. 🙄
Im glad you are speaking out on this. Ive always thought the premium shop and moonstone prices were absolutely ridiculous. But there will always be people purchasing them and i dont think theyll stop adding new items in the shop.
The prices are far too high for all the bugs that I am experiencing. Game freezing when I purchase items from Scrooge, Freezing when I put stuff in storage, Scrooge's store being "sold out" every morning when I first log in, when I do not have all the items from his store. Stuff going into ponds and I am not able to get it out. The villagers spazzing out... just alot of stuff that needs to be fixed before they start trying to get so much money.
two ps5 bugs that I've noticed after update 5, kristoff doesn't talk anymore when you buy something from his stall, and there's a bug and Scrooge's store on the 1st furniture aisle when you walk in, whatever's on the back the first item you pick will show that picture for the next item also. I hope I'm making sense with that.
You are 100% right and people defending this are ridiculous. Your tallying of how much all these different things cost together, per month, is exactly why this game is ridiculously expensive. They say "free to play" but let's be honest, you can easily be compelled into spending over $150 a MONTH on this game. Even a monthly subscription of $14 a month like an MMO would be a million times more reasonable. Defending these microtransactions is shameful. I'm an adult and I can afford some of this, but imagine what it does to kids. These types of gaming tactics should honestly be outlawed, period.
I appreciate you covering this topic Serroh. I agree with everything you said. It's terrible what people did to that game streamer. Many gamers seem to have stockholm syndrome with some of these games and they'll defend it no matter what. It's a really bizarre thing to witness. I notice your audience doesn't behave that way because they're mature, like you. Which is why I enjoy watching you and spending time in your live chats. Personally, I don't intend on making any in game purchases especially if they're overpriced like it was with the Wall-E quest. I'm so over these greedy gaming companies.
The tools aren't even something you can sit out and display. You'll only see the expensive tools you're buying when they are in use. Not worth it to me.
Totally agree. Very disappointing how expensive things are in the game, and its impossible to save up enough moonstones from 50 moonstones per day... ridiculous.
What's crazy to me is the fact that a single house skin or one new skin for all of the tools is over a 1,000 moonstones more expensive than paying for the premium starpath which you can get 35+ new intems broken up between motifs, hairs, outfits, furniture, and character skins plus over 1,000 moonstones back (if you grind for a significant amount of hours, which at least doesn't require spending more money). It just makes zero sense. I think the prices for the starpath are very reasonable because with the amount of items you can get, they only refresh every 2 months or so, and with the 50 moonstones you can get per day. So I think they should definitely take a look at that and adjust the prices in the premium shop accordingly. We're talking the most expensive thing in the premium shop should be at the VERY MOST 500 moonstones (10 days worth of getting the daily moonstones). That would still "encourage" people to spend money in the game but just not 40 dollars every week when the shop refreshes which is absolutely absurd.
It’s a grimy business model, with a lot thing in the premium shop it’s obvious that many of these items we’re supposed to be sold as value packs similar to how the moonstones are sold. Instead you have to buy things individually for the same price as a pack of items, furniture etc. I recently stopped purchasing and trying my best to stop buying assets for game that still crashes
I was excited that we were supposed to get a new outfit for Scrooge through an event, so I was disappointed that Scrooge's outfit was actually in the premium shop. I am also disappointed that WALL-E's quest is locked behind a paywall, and 4,000 moonstones is so expensive and not worth it! I paid for the ultimate edition of the game, and I have not bought any more moonstones. The only item I have bought in the premium shop is the castle because the price for moonstones is so high. I definitely agree they need to lower the price of moonstones and also increase the number of moonstones you get in the daily chest. Furthermore, I have encountered so many bugs since I started playing including game-breaking ones, so they need to focus on fixing the bugs instead of adding all these microtransactions to an early access game!
🎉 yes yes yes to everything you laid out so clearly in this video post. When I can buy an article of clothing for the same amount of money as it costs in game then something is seriously wrong. And yes you can buy a really cute top at Target for under $10. I’m absolutely boycotting the premium shop. I mean the game crashes!! Freezes!! Has bugs that have existed for literally month. Nothing should cost real money right now. We are basically paying Gameloft to be BETA testers. This is nutz
I don't mind spending real money on in game items, I've been doing this for over a decade. So I'm not triggered over microtransactions. However, in the case of this shop round, I find the quality of the items do not meet the price point they are asking. I don't want to pay Gucci prices for dollar tree items.
Thank you Serroh for giving genuine feedback. I have heard a few content creators defending this madnesss because they want to be sponsored by Gamefoft. I get it… it is a content creators dream to get such a large sponsorship. However, you can still be honest a be sponsored by this company. Honesty makes your opinion more valuable, because cause all parties can trust you, Gameloft and the gaming community. I really appreciate you for your honesty! Thank you so much ❤❤❤ Also I am aware of the creator you are talking about, I absolutely hate that for them. Update 5 has brought so much low energy with it. I have been just grinding on my own and not watching many of the videos. I watch some of the defenders of Gameloft, but as soon as they get on their soap box I click out of the live. We need to figure out a way to get our FAM back into the community. Much love being sent to them!
I'm a little upset at the 4,000 moonstones for the Wally dream thing, I didn't think that was worth it at all. as much as I want the new skins I'm not spending any more money right now. The prices are ridiculously high for what you get.
Thank you for speaking up against this. Dreamlight Valley looks like such a fun game and I really wanted to play it. But in the current starte, it doesn't seem worth it. I don't want to get invested in a game that will put a new paywall in my way regularly. Premium items and DLCs are fine, but the prices should be reasonable in relation to what kind of game it is. Skins in single player games should not be expensive. And additional quests, if they cost moonstones, should be cheap enough that you can actually save up for them through gameplay in a realistic time frame. I hope more people speak up about this and the game will sometime become more affordable.
I paid $70 for Elden Ring that was a full game with more content than DreamLight Valley. Meanwhile a multi-billion dollar company wants me to shell out hundreds to enjoy reskins on a game with less. Stardew Valley had more to offer for a fraction of the cost and that was just one guy making the game and it has multiplayer and a prolific modding community. So many games are 1 time purchases and just 1-2 DLCs and even free updates such as Animal Crossing and these games don't have bugs (like crashing on my switch multiple times everytime I play).
That is why I was scared of this game being part of Gameloft. Disney Magic Kingdoms is another game they own and right now is mostly pay to win :( you can't progress fast unless you spend money buying gems or bundles because the prices they put for freetoplay players to access the premium things are very high... especially in events. That was one of my favorite games but now I don't even open the game
I completely agree. I responded to that girl on Twitter who got blasted by the community for speaking up. I told her about my son freaking out when he saw these prices. He was like ... omg what do they think this game is Fortnite?!? Which is kind of hilarious as this is really just like an old mobile game (which they took most of the coding guts from, actually.) Literally nothing to do after you get the quests done except decorate. So I make my case that furniture (including premium shop) is part of the base game. They need to lower the costs... but I think they believe being a Disney product that the whales will keep it going, sadly. I have groceries to buy for my family... which has literally doubled in cost in the last 6 months. It's too bad they are wrecking this game before it even gets going. The new biome will be part of that paid expansion. I would say that after the game goes F2P they won't be giving us our moonstones back on the Premium Star Path either. If it's this bad now, I can't IMAGINE what it will be like then. (Well I kind of can, as I've played all the EA Sims mobile games... ha, and SWORE I would never get roped into another again... yet here I am.) As far as how many moonstones I've purchased: I started out on my son's Xbox and he has Game Pass, so it was free and I got 8k from that. Then I decided to buy the Ultimate version so got another 20K with that. I just ran out of moonstones before this update, so what I did was, I bought the Ultimate Version AGAIN on Epic Games as they were having a sale on it for $48.99 plus they gave me a 25% off coupon (for preordering Life By You, I believe) so those 20K moonstones only ended up costing me with tax, $40. Next time I need moonstones I'm hoping Steam will have a sale. lol
Hi, I totally agree. A great review. I am playing on the switch and the bugs are so annoying - screen freezes and sound problems. I refuse to spend additional money on a game which is not developing quickly. There are no real challenges in the game. All characters are so easy to level up, everyone is already level 10. What should be a stunning game is becoming increasingly boring and repetative. A real shame when you think of the potential.
What's really messed up is that they are charging hundreds of dollars, when the game doesn't even work properly. It's the buggiest mess of a product you will find on the market, and it isn't getting better.
I agree about your assessment of the issues. It is so crazy. I have been trying to be picky about what I spend my moonstones. I started on the Xbox with the base game. My hubby has Xpass Ultimate so it was "free" for me to play. I bought the Ultimate pack on sale for $50 because I wanted to collect all the things! I shelled out another $50 while the Ultimate was on sale on Steam so I could play it there too. I also did it to get the extra moonstones. I find it interesting that you said other DDV content creators were defending the costs. I guess they aren't people I watch as all the ones I watch agree that the pricing is insane & that it is hurting the game. Agree 110% that Gameloft should address the community outrage. I was optimistic when they did the poll. But all it seemed to do was to tell them they should charge for the character outfits (like Scrooge and probably Merlin.) And charge an insane amount for the tool skins! Sadly, I think GL is focusing more on Speedstorm than fixing the issues with DDV! I am curious what platform you play on given all your bugs. Thankfully, I haven't run into those issues on the Xbox. But I may have just been lucky...
My days playing this game are definitely numbered… if my save ever corrupts and I have to restart, I'm out. If the Scrooge outfit comes out later as part of a quest reward, I’m out. When I run out of moonstones and can’t do a Star Path, I'm out. I spent $70 for early access on this game. I’ve gotten my money’s worth, but I’m not spending more.
It wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to gain more moonstones outside of the Star Path other than the blue chests. They usually only spawn 1 or 2 chests a day containing 50 moonstones. The only way to get moonstones right now is paying them your own real money. This current Star Path only gave 10 extra tokens, which only gave me 90 moonstones back. The previous Star Paths gave much more extra tokens to convert back. I do wish we had a bit more notice for this update too. It was a lovely surprise to have it so soon, but it would have given some a chance to save their moonstones. I spent 2,000+ on a shop item but had I known the update was coming, I'd have saved them!
You just know they will recolor them too... At first they were treating their community so nice and they promised us things, they seemed to listen to us and we got free stuff, but they start to show their true colors and they are building up to something... It will only go more downhill from now! Breaks my heart. I don't mind spending money, but these prices are insane! Eventually this game will cost u hundreds of dollars. They have broken their promises. We are the paid players and they are effing us over.
It only ruins the game if you allow it to. I am choosing not to buy anything from the store because I want to send a message that it's too expensive. If more people would do that you might get them to reconsider it.
Finally got my husband to start playing, he accidentally purchased the Wall-E bundle and is basically screwed. He didn’t even have Wall-E, has no moonstones left to activate the premium Star Path. He’s playing on his Xbox. It’s highway robbery.
Its just galling how bad they are at micro transactions. I think of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, which I enjoy, but that game is free, never crashes, and no gameplay is locked behind a paywall (edit: but it does a fabulous job of occasionally getting me to spend some money) The gaslit people who defend these prices (my initial shock was how people leapt down my throat when i was skeptical of the premium starpath costing additional real $), and gameplay locked behind paywalls, when everyone currently playing paid for the game, just baffles me
Also… Gameloft has been around for over a decade. It is an established big name developing company. They have not enjoyed longevity by launching projects they cannot afford. Gameloft can absolutely afford to pay their staff. And yes they should make a profit from the game, but let’s figure out a way where all parties get value out of the deal.
Unfortunately if they keep charging for everything I won’t keep playing. I already paid for the highest package. I feel like if you paid that much you shouldn’t have to buy all of these little things. Maybe the people who get the game free should need to pay to unlock certain things, but not people who already paid 🤷🏽♀️
Another great video! I doub't that they will take money exclusively for phone skins as there is a phone skin included in the tools pack. Also Who needs a phone skin? You can hardly see it!
Alot of of us work 40 hours a week minimum wage paycheck to paycheck. We rely on the moonstones we collect when we can actually play. It's completely taking advantage of people and their desperation and addiction to the game.
I had to stop the video just to say this. Many of us women who play cozy games also play Fortnite. I also play WoW, ESO and just started Diable IV. I play with so many women, you just don't know it and assume it's a “guy” kicking your butt in PVP. But no, it may be a 51 yr old woman. Bless your heart!
I really didn’t think there would be any purchasable quests until the game was free to play. The last update was cute but it was very short and I still can’t finish the Buzz quest off as the last alien is still stuck under the bed.
I think it would be great to have the items from the shop implemented into the game so u could buy them with coins in the game especially if you couldn't afford them with moonstones
@peytonguido115 the thing I hate is seeing items in the shop that u can't buy in ur own shop and when ur shop has items that only has a few new items in it and the rest are items u already have so moving them to the shop would add to your inventory plus you wouldn't be missing out on anything
Agree with everything you said. I had to stop playing when they first introduced the premium shop because the prices were so awful. I didn't play for 3 months and came back to give the game another chance just before update 5 came out. I was disappointed to see nothing had changed with the premium shop since I stopped playing. Update 5 was a big let down and made me regret giving the them another chance to fix anything because they just made the premium stuff even worse with the Wall-E pack and still no improvements to prices....so I've uninstalled and stopped playing again. :( I have voiced my concerns in their discord server before but they pretty much ignore all the negative feedback they get on the premium shop. They just leave the channel there for people to vent in to or something...I don't think they care and I don't think they will change anything. I hope I'm wrong though because I do love this game and would like to keep playing it if they would just fix the prices because it's ruining all the fun. And please don't comment saying I don't have to buy the premium shop stuff, I know that....I still don't want to support a game that is trying to exploit players that love their game like this. Anyway, thanks for speaking up about this! Hopefully more people do too.
The pricing is way way too high. Even EA only charges $5 for a kit, an outfit for Scrooge is $8?? Little Green Men is STILL bugged, STILL crashes on the switch. It's basically unplayable on the switch if we're real.
It’s especially bad on Switch. I’m not even tempted to purchase overpriced furniture items because the performance is so atrocious, the building controls are so poorly optimized for a controller, and the menus are so unbearably slow. It’s just not practical or fun to redecorate on Switch, and even after months of updates it does not seem to be improving.
100% I never designed cause it’s unbearable to do it on switch and now I’m conditioned to manually save every few min in anticipation of the crash but oh yes let me spend money on a couch to leave in my inventory 🙄
Imo, I don't focus on getting items from the premium shop because thankfully they're not exclusive items like Twitch Drops. I rather focus my moonstones on Star Paths and save the rest for future ones.
I feel very pressured by GameLoft because they have great things that I want to get but at ridiculous prices and if I didn’t get them items then GameLoft would make me miss out on them.

What are your thoughts on this?
When the game is not even free yet !!!

Don't play Valorant. One weapon skin can go from 10 to 100 dollars. Yup, one weapon skin.
I literally can't tell you how disheartening it is to not be able to buy things that look amazing because they're overpriced and I am broke and live paycheck to paycheck.
Feel that
@@Serrohthank you for making this video.
Same
I feel this so much
What they should do: put these premium items in limited time events for people to unlock through quests and completing tasks.
I feel very pressured by GameLoft because they have great things that I want to get but at ridiculous prices and if I didn’t get them items then GameLoft would make me miss out on them.
thats a terrible idea imo, it makes no sense for them to do
These aren’t microtransactions. These are full grown adult transactions. Nothing has been worth more than $5 tbh (house maybe but only bcz they added placing multiple)
This just made me realize, this game is probably going to be played by a bunch of kids when it releases free to play and no way a 10-12 year old could afford any of this!
@@j3nnacat so the parents are pressured to buy all this for their kids. They know what they're doing for sure.
Agreed: The premium prices won’t decrease if enough people are paying the current prices. Revenue is the feedback that wins here.
Yepppp. I got treated better by Blizzard and that's saying something.
I do like the beard tho its pretty awesome 😂
Gameloft sounds like a company that doesn’t seem to quite fiscally understand how to keep a game successful and prosperous in the long term.
theyre not interested in that. Its all about making a quick buck. theyve done this with a bunch of their previous games. and also they are primarily working for the mobile market. ddv is nothing but a mobile game ported on other platforms.
They'll make their money then eventually sell to a bigger company.
Wow I am thankful you made a video about this! I love the game and yes the cosmetics look great, but they are INSANELY overpriced! That’s ACTUALLY crazy!
I agree for a prerelease with bugs and such the price gouging is a bit ridiculous.
With this new update my game crashes at least every 30 minutes or so.
We literally had to buy this game from the get go and now we're having to pay for things that should be given out as quest items/rewards.

Thank you for making this!! So many aren’t acknowledging how overly priced things are!! Thank you!! ❤
Omg THANK YOU SO MUCH for speaking out on this. More creators need to speak out on this.
Not to mention they haven't delivered on all community rewards. Notably the Walt and Micky statue and the Heroic Clothing Set.
After all, this is a cozy game, it's meant to be, you know, cozy, a moment to relax, decorate our valleys and play in a fantasy world, with such beloved characters.

stop supporting the price gouging or they are never gonna fix it! You know its only gonna get worse if you reward there bad behavior!

The scrooge one is on the PC as well, same with the little mermaid hair bug. Catch multiple characters just standing there having full blown seizures.
the scrooge one is also on the switch
the glitch with scrooge is happening on my switch it sucks , but these people want hundreds of dollars for a broken game ??
The special event was opening your wallet😂😂😂
The tools aren't even something you can sit out and display. You'll only see the expensive tools you're buying when they are in use. Not worth it to me.
100% agree with this, ridiculous prices! I get that they want to make money, but this is not the way...
Big props for speaking up about this!! Couldn’t agree more
It’s a grimy business model, with a lot thing in the premium shop it’s obvious that many of these items we’re supposed to be sold as value packs similar to how the moonstones are sold.
I don't want to pay Gucci prices for dollar tree items.
some do seem rushed. I hear the new scrooge skin is buggy and the trees from last weeks bundle were low res
Microtransactions became a priority over fixing bugs and glitches in this broken game
The pricing just doesnt make any sense. And its really greedy especially for an early access game. Really disappointed tbh
Also I know it was probably bittersweet making this video because it's such a great game. But they know they are taking advantage of people right now.
That’s soo true…they might change possible never know but let’s hope it’s bit more reasonable 😊
If anyone used to play neopets 🤣🤣🤣 mini games there were the best
they continue to disappoint me with the transactions, from now on I'm not even opening the shop to view what's new
Thank you Serroh for giving genuine feedback.
Thank you! 🤍
I stopped spending this update. I refuse to !! This is ridiculous.. I don't want to pour my money into digital stuff.
(Well I kind of can, as I've played all the EA Sims mobile games... ha, and SWORE I would never get roped into another again... yet here I am.)
As far as how many moonstones I've purchased: I started out on my son's Xbox and he has Game Pass, so it was free and I got 8k from that. Next time I need moonstones I'm hoping Steam will have a sale. lol
I understand paying for an expansion pack but a single quest, smh ridiculous
I had such high hopes and now it's gone. They had no intention of making this a players game.
yea, I am not spending my money on this. Its an inceridble amount of money to even put groceries in your home. No thank you.
Should not be charging since we paid for the game, I paid $70.
I think of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, which I enjoy, but that game is free, never crashes, and no gameplay is locked behind a paywall (edit: but it does a fabulous job of occasionally getting me to spend some money)
The gaslit people who defend these prices (my initial shock was how people leapt down my throat when i was skeptical of the premium starpath costing additional real $), and gameplay locked behind paywalls, when everyone currently playing paid for the game, just baffles me
Also… Gameloft has been around for over a decade.
My quests have been glitching and when I take a buddy with me to do tasks their abilities are SO LAGGY
If they lowered the prices, more people would buy it and Gameloft would actually get more money.
I think it would be great to have the items from the shop implemented into the game so u could buy them with coins in the game especially if you couldn't afford them with moonstones
my thoughts exactly. orrrr let us buy moonstones with in-game currency like the coins. the real life prices are so outrageous
@peytonguido115 the thing I hate is seeing items in the shop that u can't buy in ur own shop and when ur shop has items that only has a few new items in it and the rest are items u already have so moving them to the shop would add to your inventory plus you wouldn't be missing out on anything
So… first time playing a money-hungry game?
-Sims 4 Player
But in all seriousness this is insane and they really do need to lower these prices
I have voiced my concerns in their discord server before but they pretty much ignore all the negative feedback they get on the premium shop.
I agree I been with this game since the start and I’m kinda sad about where it’s heading😔
I’m still holding off buying anything if we all don’t buy it they’ll have to lower it.
Also I’ve purchased items for moonstones ONLY for them to appear in scrooges shop right after.
