- Marble Marcher: CE - Navigate Massive Mesmerizing Fractals in a Monkey Ball-esque Ball-Rolling Game
Note: I have previously covered the original version of this game, but this Community Edition has some improvements and new levels.

the fact that this is even playable is amazing, imagine having a quake type game where the map changes like this..
It may not quite be Quake, but I'd recommend checking out Yedoma Globula for a fractal-based first person experience - th-cam.com/video/V1MjZbGbi4I/w-d-xo.html
@@AlphaBetaGamer Just stumbled upon this comment, thanks for the recommendation. Awesome stuff!
1. I don't think the gameplay would be that good, the fractals are very bumpy.
2. You'll need a NASA computer in order to run a game like that.
@@Spubbily01 why would you need a supercomputer? What would make the physics any more complicated than in this game?
@@alansmithee419 You have a point, but i don't think this type of collision would be good in an FPS game.
Gotta appreciate the beauty of fractals.
Steel Marble Run at its finest.
I read that as steel ball run
It can be beautiful, but it can look hideous too. The tree thingy at the beginning of the video is a big yikes for me.
Also one of the most notable use of Ray Tracing.
Don't fractals happen to form when an object from a parallel universe collide with the same object of this universe?
@@mmyr8ado.360 No
Imagine an open world game where the environment changes like this.
warrior cast there is one. But there isn't much to do. its also made out of fractals.
@@adonas3903 what’s the title of the game?
@@johnclark926 lol it's been 2 years man I don't even remember
@don'tfeel that looks like the right game, thank you for telling me
OH
My graphics processor has now adopted a religion in hopes to be salvaged from eternal damnation.
@Muffinconsumer4 Ah good, maybe I can run it on my shower curtains then
Acid but you don't have to leave your room to get it
Make it better: Watch in VR.
It's obvious you have never taken acid.
It's the classic "15 year old sees something even remotely psycadelic and says it's like acid or shrooms". It's hillariously idiotic. Well done, now everyone knows how dumb you are.
@@MuscarV2 nah, this time it was actually psychedelic!
1:55 Interstellar
Exactly my thoughts lmao
Love, TARS. The answer is love.
I was thinking the same damn thing. This is what joe rogens soul looks like lmao.
This is one of those games where you can say “It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey”
The more interresting part is how this game is done. It (ofc.) uses some clever trickery to render, otherwise you'd need a gpu that can render movies in real time. I highly recommen watching the technical video from the og creator!
I highly recommend reading #community-edition-dev (and #stem and #fractals) from community server :-)

Falling into the hole at 1:56 took me back to the early 2000s visual media player graphics.
code parade gang rise up
Ayyy!
Ayyy!
На месте!)
but like how do fractals work mathematically?
ayyy
I remember the video of this game being made, Code Parades TH-cam.
You also made a video on this a year ago.
It's been updated since then.
Codeparedes ffs
@@kreuner11 thanks ya
Yeah, I saw that one too. Nice to see how the game has grown.
ay yeah and he explained how ray tracing works and all that
(also code bullet is prdy epic too, feels bad he doesn't post that often)
@@briankennedy3038 yeah that one. might watch it again some time I forgot what it was about
I love that marble makes little cute glass noises
I need you to know, I'm extremely high.
Try playing this game on neon shaders, you will not regret
Nathan Stevens
no that’s just how the game looks
3:28
The hills are alive with the sight of fractals!
I might be the only one, but who else wants to eat fractals...
Oh god you sure? You’d be bound to get poked by any surface..
Well yeah of course
some of them
@@notflaz4420 crunchy
Oh, cool that you reviewed it!
Omg I just got this about a week ago after waiting so long for a windows computer so I could run it. I thought this was long dead since the last update was around February last year. So glad people are still improving it! *(P.S. pylon palace is straight up horseshi-*
9:26 “Build up speed”
Me: “That’s a Square Death Star and you know it.”
yes, I was waiting for the name of the level of be "trench run" or something like that
olucaspc XD
Dormamu! I have come to bargain!
Now this is a game I can play in my free time
This music will be stuck in my head until the day I die
I've always wanted to see a game utilize fractal geometry.
look up Yedoma Globula
@@Blockistium Damn, that looks awesome.
@@Blockistium you mean yedoma?
@@Blockistium Just played it, runs surprisingly well on my old PC. However, I am not sure how the developers will expand on the concept.
@@TimSlee1 join the discord if you have any ideas you want to share
This game becomes much more fascinating once you understand the tech behind it
0:45 I can't even comprehend the amount of surface area there is on that object. It's strangely unsettling
WHAT ABOUT THE MEGA LABYRINTH WTF
This is branch X where I use smartphones to access the internet
Htf do you calculate collisions with these meshes?!
The original creator, CodeParade, has a video on their channel
I think it resets the level if the ball clips at all, but I was wondering the same thing
Check out the video by codeparade, you can watch how he made it all work
Ray marching, the same method used to render and create the levels. Basically some code that says, "If the ball is under a certain distance from the nearest surface, push it away a bit."
There are no meshes
This is like playing Roll Away/Kula World on acid while listening to Crystal Castles.
holy shit @ mega citadel ... that stage is insane
this is such a beautiful, joyful, playful little game! bravo! restores my faith in the simple joy of screwing around in game dev in the modern era
This sort of hurts the eyes but it looks like a good game of golf otherwise
Golf would suit fractals much better. The marble game looks frustrating and tedious.
Geek Rex It’s not too bad. Once you get used to the controls it’s a pretty fun experience. But I digress, as (since I’m a dev for the CE) we are going to be working on another full-fledged real-time fractal game/game engine after the CE is stable enough. (we’re not gonna stop working on it ofc) We’re still working out the details, but it’ll likely be open source, and it most definitely will be free.
It's not a golf game at all... You're an idiot
golf game? I don't know how I would play golf with terrain like that.
This game is such a zen experience, I feel one with the universe
Yall remember Marble Blast? This is them now. Feel old yet?
Man this game starts to look better and better the more videos i watch of it.
I remember playing this game ages ago, the new polished and shiny look the fractals have now is super mesmerizing. I’m not sure if I didn’t see it last time because I had graphics at the lowest for performance or if it was only added recently
I imagine blending that tech with "Blame!" imagery in some open-world VG.
My brain will melt of pleasure.
Damn, I remember the initial tryouts for this.
Didn't know this would end up becoming a Thing.
27:36 POV: you're a worm living on some cauliflower
Marble Madness on DMT
Marble madness on GPUs :-)
Those graphics are great! It's looks like real. I don't know how the devs did those graphics, but, congratulations guys. It's amazing.
thanks
The level loading is so dope. Music is supes. Fuckin beautiful.
"Yo, dont fall in that hole"
"what hole"
"i swear it was just the-- IS THE GROUND MOVING???"
Ant-man's fractal universe inside quantum dimension.
Seems way more finished. :) Thank You
woahhh this new lighting looks awesome
Can't wait for speedruns of this
Truly mesmerising
I saw this thing up to a year ago. Looks like it's coming around again.
I think I better download it.
2:25 would look like a pretty interesting transition in some glitchy type game or something
Gorgeous fractals
Oh to be a marble navigating massive mesmerizing fractals in a monkey ball-esque ball rolling game...
the music is soul crushing
I contributed to the original, nice to see it continuing
I'm just imagining someone speedrunning this game. It would be amazing!
Looks like a game Jerry Smith would like .
this is beautyfull
Does anyone know the first song that's playing? I can't seem to find it.
Wish these kinds of landscapes existed irl.
32:30 at this moment i dont know if its going up or down
The graphics look surprisingly good
@@kreuner11 Ray marching, reeeeeee
ray marching is a subclass of ray tracing, also this uses path tracing too, reeee
Holy crap this is actually insane I gotta play this
Just viewing the video set my gpu on fire
this make me remember a nvidia demo called Geoforms
Just want to mention that Marble It Up is a level based marble game that sends me into heaven
Marbe Marcher: Combat Evolved
This game seriously needs a more atmospheric soundtrack... No pun intended.
So Mesmerizing.
I always knew marbles can travel around the world on their own =D
Nice visuals
Glad there isn't a time limit. I'd spend more time exploring the fractals than I would actually racing.
The devs must’ve had to work so hard on collision detecting in this game, especially the moving levels!
Surrealist!
Great !
Imagine a game that has all of these:
- non-Euclidean
- 4 dimensions or higher
- can shrink or grow in size at will
- infinite fractals
Imagination knows no logic.
I've always wanted to play Marble Run ever since Code Parade first announced it, but it's extremely demanding, lol.
I remember this game! I tried to download it but my laptop was too bad to handle it.
I like the second one.
Now includes new metallic shaders
Anyone know what the first theme that plays when you start the game is called?
1:57 wow
29:30 you don't do that too often lol
Pattern Screamers at their finest.
dude. That is cool as butts.
Epic
Miss the Monkey Ball
My man actually did it
I was following the dev of this game like a while ago, but haven’t been keeping up with it. So seeing it completed and played here is a nice surprise
Marble Blast but on acid
I would buy this. Put it on console.
I think when the marble was so close to the end of expressways then just slammed against the smallest crater was the point of maximum sadness there. Also,I though the Mega Citadel was a very pretty level, just a long stroll in the park.
It looks even better with "fractal glow" on
Some of these really triggers my trypophobia
All it needs are some randomly generated levels or something like that
These are technically randomly generated but then handpicked as they make good levels
And so that they can have names on them
I have a relatively shitty 4k tv (Hitachi 65 HL8000) this ''game'' still looks amazing on it
That second one straight up looks like a forest
3D fractals trigger my trypophobia
I can't be the only one who thinks "Big Fish Games" when it comes to this game, right?
Not sure if anybody noticed, but the millisecond counter goes up to 60, not 100.
CODE PARADE
This game is "trippin'balls". 🙄
Get it? 😉
No?
Okay. 😐
You got so lucky on Planet Crusher I'm upset
Music is a little lackluster, considering. Isn't it?
is there too much temporal AA or has youtube's video compression gone too far here? (spoiler: both)
