Astelan was one of these first Terran marines, as he is very old, and if one tries to look into his mind, they are repulsed by what is described as "feeling like you're standing next to the sun."
One of my favorite dark angels is Sargent Namen. Scout Sargent. Died alone after reporting vital information of the whereabouts of the Ork teleporter during the battle for Piscina. A guardsman he approached and took a liking to received a piece of Namen’s ceramite at the end of the battle. Really good book. Purging of Cadillus I think is the name.

@@DeltaTeamSTARS yeah I read the book already which is why I commented this, tho in the book it’s said that the grey knight there isn’t actually Epimethius, he’s pretending to be, his real name is never said but it becomes pretty clear throughout the book that he doesn’t want to see the Dark Angels because they’d not like who he is: the only logical conclusion being that he himself was once a dark Angel despite the book never saying that outright. So it’s not clear who the guy stationed there actually is, only that he was one of the original 8 founders and that he doesn’t want to Dark Angels to find him
Love these stories of rogue marines going on sidequests becoming warlords. l remember there was something dimilar in the 8th edition chaos codex with one survivor of the gothic war creating a pocket chaos empire somewhere in the imperial outback. Really shows what even single marines are capable of if left to their own devices.
I'm not quite sure why but there's some crazy people out there who think that the Dark Angels are the reason that the universe its current state, which is a great way to tell me you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to Warhammer
@@Marcus10k this guy I meet in at my LGS, I'm new to 40k and I picked the dark angels as my first character AND HE WENT ON A TIERADE ABOUT THEM FOR 2 HOURS on how they didn't stop the heresy or the Lion not being there on Terra, and not doing anything after the emperor fell, he said some nasty things about ultra Marines for some reason, I haven't read any lore so I'm not sure what he's talking about. He really really likes fulcrum. All the Google searches I've done do not support him in any way and all the other people I've met say he's a bit of a cry baby,
I am a fan also of the Dark Angels!!! Once I finally started to hear “real lore” about them they jumped into my top 5 Space Marine armies to build!!! But unfortunately, I was already (probably) around 30 or more soldiers/minis done and (I think) 2 vehicles done!!! So I really wasn’t going to go back at that point!?! And I really wished I also knew that GW was going to bring back their leader (sorry for some odd reason I can’t remember how that is spelled?!? And auto correct isn’t helping at all) the Lion before I was literally almost done building and painting my whole army! Because depending on how far I was in, I might have just restarted!?! And yeah, I know Girly-Man is also back…… but after I painted 3 blue boys I realized how much I didn’t like that suit color!!! So F that!!! Lol
I have a round 110 astartes models, 5 total dreads, and several predators/ land raiders/rhinos. Did them all as space wolves. Horus heresy models btw. I ended up falling for the world eaters and after grabbing angron and a sheet of transfers I stripped all of my models and I'm about halfway done switching them to world eaters. Just because you already finished some of your models doesn't mean you cant remove the paint and do them as the legion you want. I will say though my wife wasn't happy when she saw what I was doing since it all takes forever lol

But I also a few tanks and a few flyers and I think I’m well over 110 SM Troopers! But also since they don’t really “sell” the emblems of chapter I made, everything is freehand! So that’s at least a extra 20 minutes to each shoulder pad and a extra 15-20 minutes for each units markings (of and only if I got it right the first time and didn’t have to restart! Which was rare)! I know it’s over a normal size army…….. now! But I was going off of a lot of, um…… incorrect, wrong and intentionally misleading information! So l know “I could”! But I also know the insane amount of work it would be to do so!!! That’s all I really meant

Space Marines are not immortal. They do age, albeit extremely slowly. They can live for centuries or, in a very few cases, millennia. But still not truly immortal.
The oldest Space Marine is Dante at around 1'500 and he is feeling his age. The oldest physically is Barabos Dantioch at 3'000 (his actual age is about 200) and like Dante, he was really feeling his age and, unlike Dante, looked like shit.
