That's so cute and absolutely gorgeous! Lynz, you're so creative! I would have never thought of this type of design. Always so precise in your trimming and making such a perfect finishing result! Big well done! 😍😍
Thank you so much, I am so glad you like the design. I had such fun making this cake this week and thought it would be perfect if anyone was looking for a gift idea for Christmas. Thank you x
I am so glad you like it. I hope the tips on how I ganached and covered the square cake will be useful. The board on the top of the final coat definitely really helps get those straight sides and nice edges x x
Thank you so much. If you head over to my instagram @cakesbylynz and checkout my stories I uploaded a little clip of me cutting this cake today, so you can see the inside.
Another great one Lynz! FANKQ for showing that you had rips at the corners when you first placed the fondant over the cake, it was good to see that this happens to everyone and I bet some of your viewers will also find comfort in this. I still prefer your hat box one though 🥰. Oh and do I spy a new turntable? 😜🥰😍🥰🤓
Thank you so much. I'm so pleased you like this one. I loved the hatbox one too. Those corners can be tricky can't they, especially with nice sharp ganached corners on the outside. I find getting the fondant on and smoothing down these areas as quickly as possible and then going in with the smoothers really helps. Also yes I thought I would treat myself to a new turntable a few weeks ago. Its amazing and spins so much better than my old one. Thank you so much for watching.
Hello, I want to do this design since forever, thanks for sharing, I want to try it. Would it be ok to make square out of 8 inch cake or not. Then, can I add surprise inside, like a small box for the gift.
Hi Sami, To convert my 6 inch cake recipe for 9 inch tins which are around the same height (mine were 2.5 inches) the recipe would need multiplying by 2.25. So it would need 765g of the flour, butter and sugar, 9 eggs and 4.5 tbsp on flavouring. It will also take a little longer to bake. I hope this helps.
Hi Maria, The square that I was using for the top was actually a thin cake board or cake card that I got from my local cake decorating shop. Just a think cake board would work, or I think this one was a Poly Coated Cake Card. Sometimes its easier to find them in circles so you can just cut out a square in the size you need from the center of the board.
Hi Hannah, The one I use is the 'Stellar James Martin' knife and is actually a bread knife. I'm not sure if you can get this make in America but looking on Amazon there are some very similar ones available.
Tengo una duda que me surge ahora: veo que ustedes suelen usar buttercream antes de cubrir con fondant el pastel. Nosotros usamos ganache de chocolate para eso. Entonces me pregunto cómo se comporta la buttercream en climas calurosos ?
Hi, thank you for your question. I used ganache for this cake as it is a lot firmer that buttercream when covering a cake in fondant. It always keeps its shape under fondant which is what I needed for a square cake as I wanted to get sharp edges.
I like it I like it! 👏👏👏👍 It's so real, have you thought to actually place another small toy cake that you have made (i.e. Cinderella shoes) inside this cake?
Your creativity is a delight to watch, but even better, is your ability to teach what you do. Thank you very much!
U are wonderful woman and I love all ur tutorials

Hi, That would be absolutely fine to make the cake as an 8 inch. I love the idea of adding a surprise on the inside, I think that will be amazing.
@@CakesbyLynz I hope it work, thanks for your response :)
What r ur sponge/vanilla cake recipes? I have 2 9inch cake tins so how do you make the cake for them?

Just curiosity when can u buy that top square glass youre using?

I really need a serrated knife like yours. I'm in America, but I was wondering if you could give me a recommendation, what brand yours is, etc?
Hi Hannah, The one I use is the 'Stellar James Martin' knife and is actually a bread knife. I'm not sure if you can get this make in America but looking on Amazon there are some very similar ones available.
