The Knightley and Emma dance in the 2020 adaptation of Emma deserved an honorable mention...the amount of sexual tension in that scene was unbelievable

Personally I think Cinderella should not be on this list as it is clearly more of a fantasy movie and not set in any set period of history. So instead of Cinderella there could have been Zorro, Emma (2020 version), Anna & the King, The Favourite or even Young Victoria. Best save Cinderella for best fantasy dance scenes where it can go against the likes Beauty & the Beast, Rocky Horror, Enchanted or Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Cinderella still counts in this list due to its period setting and background, despite being more of a fantasy movie.
EMMA. (2020) is definitely the best one in my opinion. P&P (2005) is a close second.
The valzer scene in "The Leopard", 1963, which also inspired the dance scene in Cinderella.

Do agree that Anna Karenina is a masterpiece but you’ve got it COMPLETELY wrong on the Darcy/Bennett couple. The Firth/Ehle casting was THE perfect casting.
They could have mentioned “Casanova” (2006) with Casanova ( David Tennant) and Bellino ( Nina Sosanya).

Mary and Francis in Reign, Jo and Laurie in Little Women, as well as Victoria and Albert in The Young Victoria. Henry and Anne Boleyn had some pretty great dance scenes in s1 of The Tudors as well that really developed their chemistry.
I don’t personally classify Cinderella as a period drama and so I wouldn’t have included it but each to their own.
Granted, Cinderella had the period background in it and it still counts despite being fantasy.

Here I am looking for Pride and Prejudice. Right off the bat I could sense their chemistry and to this day I don't deny that Pride and Prejudice is still one the greatest period romances. Fight me.
Except the 2005 version is not really like the book. The characters are all in there but they changed the personalities and motivations for the characters which changed their character arcs. If you want to see a proper version of Pride and Prejudice then watch the BBC miniseries from 1996. That is definitely the most faithful adaptation. Keira and Matthew did have great chemistry but I would have enjoyed the movie a lot more if they hadn’t been called Pride and Prejudice. Sorry.
@@jaimicottrill2831 you can't judge how good a movie is by it's faithfulness to the source material. The director can take artistic liberties if he wishes too. Pride and Prejudice is one of the best period dramas ever made. Of course the experience of reading a book can never be matched by a film , but the 2005 film is truly great.
@@rushatibhattacharyya867 but if a book as famous as Pride and Prejudice has “artistic liberties “ taken with it so that it doesn’t really feel like the book, shouldn’t we be allowed to be upset by that? The 2005 movie was aesthetically pleasing and had a great cast but, it changed important things about P&P that made the movie disappointing. Bear in mind that this is just my opinion! :)
@@jaimicottrill2831 well of course as a fan of the book you may or may not be happy with the adaption. You find it disappointing , I on the other hand feel it perfectly catches the essence of the characters and we couldn't have asked for a better cast. They are so perfect , the relation between the sisters , the lovers , Mr and Mrs Bennett. It's a movie I can watch again and again.
Maybe my review is a little biased because it's the movie I saw first and the book I read later. This movie made me a fall in love with Jane Austen. English not being my mother tongue , I wasn't very aware of her work and the 2005 movie was the beginning.

Wondering if the black-and-white dream dance between Elisa Esposito and the Amphibian Man in Guillermo del Toro's romantic fantasy period masterpiece The Shape of Water counts here, despite of its time period set in the 1960s. Like, that dance sequence is mystifying, enchanting, and beautiful.

I think Anne and Gilbert's dance in Anne with an E should have been there in the list. Everything was so good in it. The banjo played by Moody and both the actors were phenomenal in the scene.
