Marble Race: Marble League 2017 E3 Fidget Spinner Collision

- The third event of the 2017 Marble League is an event from last year, but with a new twist: the Fidget Spinner Collision! In it, all four marbles from each team race along tracks into an arena containing four fidget spinners, all rotating at different speeds that can deflect marbles, and blocks that can be knocked off the arena. The two teams will collide in the middle of the arena, and the team with the most marbles left on the arena wins.
The 16 teams are split into four groups of four, with each group doing six matches. The two best teams from each group will go to the final bracket, which has eight teams. From there, the teams compete against each other as in a tournament, with the winner moving on to the next round, and the losing team being eliminated. There is also a consolation round for the losing semifinalists to determine who wins third place. If a match is tied in the tournament stage (the same number of marbles are left on the arena), the marbles that were knocked off are launched again, while those remaining on the arena stay where they were. This continues until a winner is declared.

I am not a fan of team Momo but I can say that Momomomo has always been a classy and respectable player and it’s so disappointing to see his career end this way 😢
He got injured in the winter Olympics too. He's very injury prone. But he is one of the older guys so I kinda understand put he should just pull out of the league for his own good. This new generation is just too quick for him

As we approach the 2019 MarbleLympics it is important to consider some parts of the 2017 events that raise some administrative questions about the MarbleLympics health and safety committee. The fidget spinner event was, in my opinion and in the opinions of multiple sources close to the Committee, a RUSHED EVENT that was not tested for viability in this kind of professional environment. Momomomo's injury was not a fluke, it was the result of gross negligence on the part of the committee. That being said, we can hope that this year we can have a fun and safe sport.
The committee apologises to you for our mistake and will immediately recruit more healers and a lot more money is planned to be added to the health equipment. We will fire all the people responsible for this and make all the efforts to bring Momomomo back. We will make the entrance of healers exam harder to prevent such mishaps again. All the marble supporters will,be checked before they enter and more experienced marbles are being searched to be added to the committee. We will ensure they this does not happen again. We will recheck all the events before adding them. The committee apologises for this mistake.
We are also on the search for the member of the committee who got bribed to give the sticky cream to The Shining Swarm. We will decide if they should be kicked out or be given a warning. Please forgive us.

I've come from the year 2020 to watch this event of 2017. In spite of Momomomo's grievous injury, Team Momo is competing with all gusto in 2020. and Momomomo is amongst the competitors! A hearty attaboy goes out to Momomomo. And as for that yahoo who ran onto the playing field, I'm saddened to report that he's running for a Senate seat this year

They really need to institute better safety standards. I understand that the fans want to see exciting big hits, but we need to think of the health of the marbles too. There's so much research showing the correlation between these big hits and chronic traumatic marblopathy. It's been found even in marbles that never experienced injuries like Momomomo's. Really sad to see these impacts only getting more dangerous with spinners being included in this event.

I don't understand how in such an important tournament they don't play best of 3 in the finals. Limers were obviously by far the best team in the entire competition and crushed everybody to that point. I wonder how much money the organizer got from the Shining Swarm management... #limerswererobbed

It was so painful to see MoMoMoMo get injured again in this replay. It would be great to see him in the stands, in a place of honor at the front of the Team Primo section, for the 2019 Games. And maybe have a moment when the crowd acknowledges him - a brave marble who gave his all.

Sure, there are risks, but when I saw one of the Quicksilvers get on a spinner _and then launched_ into another one? There's risks, and there's a dangerous competition.

They were so dominate , they only gave up 1 point the enter qualifier and finals until the end match. The shinies had a Cinderella finish to get to the finals. Just goes to show what momentum and disco dancing after the match gives ya.

Those Shining Swarm marbles sure like to cut it close! Two tie breakers in the playoffs, and an additional tie in the qualifiers, and as if that wasn't enough, they tied in the qualifying rankings and had to go down into the points scored tie breaker!
Huge upset at the end, though. Perhaps the Limers were complacent after winning 5 straight? Nothing hardens a team like winning a series of close matches - it's one thing winning when you get an early lead, but quite another when you have to fight to the very end, over and over again. True grit and determination on the part of the Shining Swarm!
Man, the safety standards back then were just abysmal. It's a shame it took a career ending injury for the safe regulators to wise up.

Ooooohhh, so this is the collision fidget spinner event that other fans were talking about. Dang! Injury from Team Momo definitely looked severe. Thank goodness they changed the event.

Momomomo's last game was against the Midnight Wisps, on the Fidget Spinner Collision event. It was so far, a solid and even match. Momomomo had an ambitious idea: Get launched by a spinner and fly off to one of MW's players. His effort would be a game changer, taking the Wisps off the table, but with such courage came an injury; the injury that will take over his carrer. Having now a broken leg, the medics told he couldn't compete on the next year's Marblelympics. He watched the events, all the way to the end and watching his substitute, Memo, doing an awesome work as Momomomo did. But he still had the sense of dread gripping his head - and later he'd know he can't compete in any Marblelympics. His carrer came to an end. Now, unemployed and home, he has to find a way; or some work somewhere. Perhaps Parapletic Marblelympics? Doesn't matter if he will keep competing or not; what matters is the message he left to the public and to all teams on Marblelympics: "Always do your best, doesn't matter what it takes. You can't be perfectly round, that doesn't mean you can't be the fastest marble. You can't be a bigger marble, that doesn't mean you can't hit others as a truck. I’m new to the MarbleLympics. Was watching some events from 2020 and came back to watch this iconic event. No one warned me how gruesome the Momo injury was - wish I could’ve prepared myself. Also, I never realized that Team Primary actually used to be good. Hardly see them competing at a high level these days

I'm late to the party, and have been reading comments from the rebroadcasts of earlier events, so I had a pretty good idea what was coming... But that was still way too horrifying. Amazing that they just picked up Momomomo's bigger pieces and kept playing like it was just part of the game. Even more horrifying, the officials actually let play resume with a significant shard of the injured player still inside the arena! What is this, the Coliseum and gladiatorial combat!?
These videos have no right to be as entertaining as they are. They’re better than the real olympics.

What a heartbreaker! First, Momomomo's horrible injury, then the Limers losing out on Gold, despite such domination in earlier rounds.
That first round from the Limers had me in high hopes and they actually kept their lead! A shame my Limers had to fight team Galactic, my other favorite, in the quarter finals. Super proud of the Limers getting Silver, a step up from last year for sure!

I only love team momo because of the injuries they have been through. This, and the bobsled in 2018. Even with the many injuries, they stood up and stayed strong. Go Momo.
Despite the fact that this event was based off of a passing fad, and it caused a debilitating injury, I have to admit its a really fun to watch event.

I started watching these events over the last few weeks. Several of them featured Team Momo and but I've never seen Momomomo on the roster, so I was very sad that I knew immediately he was the one injured during this competition :(
I find myself looking back on this fateful day. Truly the most tragic event to ever take place on ML. I wish team Momo the strength to bounce back.

Momomomo's replacement with Mimo must have been very frustrating for Momomomomo.
The fidget spinners add so much to the collisions, but I can see why they weren’t used in the 2019 Marblelympics - anything that can cause an injury that severe is WAY too dangerous for these valued players.
Today I learned that marbles can get injured.

Team Momo should have gotten points for it. Momomomo was able to finish the event before they got eliminated on not having enough points. They didn't bow out, they simply got eliminated before the injury was an issue.
Damn some of these events are creative as hell.

Orangers and Midnight Wisps are interesting teams. Limers and Momo are great players but what a last minute upset by Shining Swarms. Silence for Team Momo, that was a brutal hit. Great work on these videos, especially the commentary.
