The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

This original production design looks so much better than the new “refreshed” one.
@@knownothing5518 A few years ago, there was “Cameron Mackintosh’s Spectacular New Production” with new sets, lighting, staging, etc. He did the same thing to Les Mis. The originals were much better. For Phantom, the only places that have the original production/staging/sets are Broadway and the West End.

Go to Broadway. The white principal is out there, and the black alternate is taking over. Huge buzz. You might like her--she has a better voice than the English one.

i've seen many Phantom trailers and promotional footage, but this is the BEST one! it looks incredible! it shows all the timeless designs and iconic moments but makes everything feel fresh and new and exciting! how i wish i could see this production with this cast!

Why does that matter? She's purely amazing. Don't cheapen her achievement by bringing ethnicity into this.
@@LT-jc4qb Nobody can judge her talent because of her ethnicity, or have an opinion beyond "she's amazing." If she is, let her sing and prove it. Don't just judge by looks, though that's precisely what most people have done. I think the understudy for Meghan Picerno on Broadway is much more talented, to be honest.

I saw this show yesterday, one word: PHENOMENAL!!! Amazing job to everyone involved, I had goosebumps the whole time and I can never thank the cast enough for the insane moment of happiness this musical gave me, thank you 💕 Lucy, Rhys and Killian were phenomenal 🥰🥰

Went already once in october 22 and going again this march (taking my mum) . Let me tell you, my expectations were HIGH, and well, it exceeded them. Started crying the moment the first chord of the organ was played. There's nothing that comes close to watch this musical live.

My wife and I saw the Sunday Matinee on Nov 14th and it was simply breathtaking. This was our first time seeing The Phantom of the Opera and it exceeded all expectations. The costume design, the set, the actors (especially Lucy St Louis, Killian Donnelly, and Rhys Whitfield - all spectacular) and of course ... the music. Listening back to the music releases, both original cast and 25th anniversary, brings tears to my eyes ... it is such powerful and timeless music. I am secretly hoping for a 35th Anniversary London cast recording because that is "our" cast and their performances were perfect.

The all-time classic is back! This is looking EPIC and it's one of the very few musicals that still remains popular today after well over a few decades now.

Basically the only show that hasn't released a full pro-shot of the whole thing. Really annoying when they have all of these cinematically filmed teasers.
The 25th anniversary is out there. Not a 100% replica, but the calibre of that cast makes up for everything else.

@@blissinchains The 25th anniversary concert doesn't really come anywhere close to the original staging and in my opinion is not a very good substitute at all.
@@obscurevideos1855 Recording this gutted, cheapened version with a cheap, untalented cast (the Raoul aside) wouldn't be an improvement. RAH25 blows this cast here so far out of the water they'd be in orbit.
To me this is a polished almost replica of the original and it’s truly amazing

Saw this production on October 9th on my last night in the UK, nothing short of spectacular. On the 35th anniversary night, I found that the cast at Her Majesty’s Theatre may just be the best I've ever seen. From the dancers to the Phantom, every single one of them was just outstanding. If I ever see it again live, I hope it will be at this production.
