This is the single most educational cooking video I have ever seen. I learned more in 11 minutes than a year of trying to make curries.

THANK YOU, Chef! We moved to the country in the northern US some years ago. We literally traveled 200 miles for curry that was "so-so" at best. I've tried and failed many times over the years to make a decent curry. Now, tonight, I sit here very happily too full to move because I ate so much curry. Thank you, thank you.

my food always has little less salt, but i am a good judge in adding correct amount of salt in one go and camera picks white color against black background and over exposes while adding .
less salt is always better for good health

I made this restaurant style last night - excellent. I had some heavy cream leftover so I used that instead of creme freche or something like that. My wife really loved it.
I used as much oil as you did in the video - it was more like 4 tablespoons. I'm going to try the other two versions this week - I love green chilis!

I tried this recipe - it was amazing! It is the first time my family tasted this - my wife and kids LOVED it, especially the 3rd version with coconut milk!
We dont get curry leaves here :( so I made it without it, but with all the other ingredients.

I have been following this way of making curry for 6 and a half years now. I remember watching this video back then and trying it. I fell in love with curry and enjoy making it myself. I didn't sub to the channel then and just found your channel again. I just subbed to the channel and will have to follow up on all your recipes you have here now. My wife passes away back in 2016, but she loved the curry when I made it. Our daughter on the other hand is just too picky and really doesn't care for curry. One whole onion, two tbsp sharwood mild curry powder, about two tbsp ginger garlic paste, about a cup of pace mild picante sauce to substitute for the tomato, and a good two or three tbsp of sour cream. Made a surprisingly good topping for dime store ramen noodles!

Hey Daniel since you've made it soo many times thought i'd ask you this question. In the ingredients for tomato it says 4N. What is 4N? Should i use 1 whole tomato? i'm a beginner cook and have no idea what that means. thank you

    • @danielw7126
      @danielw7126 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Jason, I never quite figured it out myself. And I'm honestly a simple at home chef myself. I just enjoy cooking is all.
I typically alter or adjust the size of the meal using how much tomato and onion I put in. I use 1 whole tomato for a simple 2-3 person meal. 2 for 4-6 people. Adjust the ingredients to taste for the larger meal. How much chicken too of course.
You can also adjust up for more sauce in your meal, which some folks prefer.
The tomato is one of the easier ingredient to play with to change the meal size without altering the flavor a lot.

Today I made the basic and then got all three according to your recipe. Thank you so much. Everyone loved them. I especially like the one with three tablespoon of coconut milk as it is less spicy and makes for good sauce to dil white bread in. I also love the dried masala chicken.

Excellent video, mate. I won't go into what I was doing wrong but now I've learned how to do it. So many recipes I see online call of so many different powders yet I knew that all that was needed was curry powder. Cheers.

That's the beauty of indian cooking. Once you mastered the basics, you'll know how to prepare many gravies as a lot of the principles are the same. Only spices, the quantity of spices, and products vary from region to region. This recipe is basically covering all the basics and mistakes to avoid.

Wow, you totally took the fear of cooking this dish. What fun.
But, I forgot to add the garlic-ginger until I started to cover it. Will that make a difference in the dish?

while cooking indian dish, if you forget adding something then leave it. adding it at wrong time will mess it up.

The one with coconut milk is the best of all because it has just a hint of sweetness that curry chicken needs😋

This method is amazing and so simple. I use it all the time. I sometimes change it up by using lamb shoulder and a tin of tomatos instead of chicken and give it a couple of hours of slow cooking.
