#gatewaystream#zimdancehall#urbangrooves
New South African Subscriber here, the native language is throwing me off a bit but i'll learn, I will binge watch the other episodes because the show is very informative about Zim Arts and Culture. Its crazy that we are neighbors but I don't know any Zim artists except Shasha & Oliver Tuku...I didn't know Tich Mataz was a Zimbabwean and he worked at my local Radio station here in Mafikeng😭🤣 I'm learning a lot🤙
welcome to the gang
Welcome Fam !!!
welcome to the family, just hold on in there and grow with us soon will have subtitles
Mad love
Tich is a Brand
Plot Mhako is so dedicated to the Zimbabwean Music, Arts and Culture industry. Gotta respect him for that.
What Plot mhako is doing with earGROUND is amazing, one of the best creatives safeguarding our rich creative heritage!
Thank you so much
Thank you so much
Thanks Denny and crew. This is an important conversation and this man was the right person for it. I believe music the craft and music the business are separate things there is need for business minded managers to help these artists grow.
Plot is smart and very respectful. He respectfully disagrees without making any noise. Look at how he also follows through Becky and Denny conversation and only speaks when given a chance to. Shows how smart he is. Kudos to you Plot and Denny J and crew.
Thank you so much
Plot Mhako has my respect. What he is doing with earGROUND is amazing. Thank you so much
That Nokia example is everything,Plot is a baggage of knowledge.Protect him at all costs.
Big Up denny J show. You brought an interesting topic. I kindly recommend Mono Mukundi for probably chapter 2 of this. Our Artist lack personal identity especially when it comes to sound. Sungura artist vese want to sound like Macheso
i totally agree, lets get Mono for PArt 2
Plot is an intellectual promoter... Glad that Denny and Bekhi brought him on to this important plaform.
Crucial points raised there, I hope this episode gets to relevant stakeholders. Big up to you Plot Mhako.
Takura is up to something watch the space.
One of the best interviews. Plot is so informed and is factual ...
Thank you
Soul Jah love was phenomenal - people who never saw him perform don't understand.
great show indeed very informative and PLOT is very knowledgeable, well done becky and denny
Denny is so cool and composed. Great work bro
Deny J his Brother P Lodza were also involved in the initial surgence of Zimdancehall who remembers Ndiwe wangu by Mr Mupfurutsa we should acknowledge that huge contribution in the 90s on our road to finding ourselves musically because we are on our way to finding ourselves musically
Brilliant interview! Plot Mhako is quite knowledgeable.
Tanto Waive has created his own genre , that dude is 🔥🔥🔥
Plot long earned my respect but now he cemented it.❤
I think every artists and creators should listen to this. Thanks for bring mukoma Plot. Shout out from Angola!!!
Plot Mhako is doing amazing work 👏
That's my big bro right there. Working tirelessly to positively transform the creative industry. Kudos bro.

You guys.are definately not shallow, with this kind of mindset we are on our way to exporting Zim music. Howevet its us the dark horses who will take us to the promised land. Kip your minds open, ❤💛💚
Plot has got a very rich mindset, i have learned a lot from this episode thumbs up Boyz Dze Tonaz Tv
Silent mavende and ibanga iroro can be our very own distinct sound....
Well said and well articulated. This is positive criticism and relevant. Big Up Plot Mhako..
Oliver Mtukudzi had agents in USA Canada etc they would book him for shows and festivals in their countries.
One dedicated guy to what he is good at salute Mr Plot. Keep up the good work.

Is it just me looking at ma lacto a Becky? What a set of beauties! Great show guys!
Bringing Becky to the show was a Trophy on its own, dem she is good.
I agree
What happened to that loud 1 ummm aizongopinda mu feeling station very fast
Nuff respect Plot!!!! Great valid points there
Plot woke up and just chose facts as he always does, this is insightful to all artists.
This is arguably the best podcast in Zim
Well articulated with some great insight of the music industry
Thank you for this episode to everyone in The Denny J Show team! As a musician myself I found it very informative and educational. Plot raised a lot of good points. I commend him for his work and dedication. The Patoranking artist-and-manager exchange was news to me. O hope we can hear of these opportunities the next time they come around. Hope you'll invite another music industry interviewee to the show again to continue this conversation!
Insightful content - shedding light on the business of music....
1:03:16 Is an honest observation a lot of people do not see. Jah love was the artist of the decade and Roki's time was already up. Artistry aside Jah Luv had social capital always giving us freestyles from peoples lives' and so on. We understood him and thats why we could look past him not attending shows. Now as for Roki he had too much personal drama but we did not give him the same pass even now.
I did not know how big Amplifaya was, now that Plot has explained, please let us know how we can support next time.
Great show,Big up Plot Mhako ,,,,,,Please bring in Daddy Hope
You read my mind bro
Interesting topic on Dancehall. There is a similar challenge in the Tshibilika space. Women do not feel safe i that space and as a result, there is not much traffic in that space
Absolutely enjoying this interview. I was also at the ExQ/Nutty O show in Germany 2 weeks ago. I think promoters also play a role in pushing our artists' music. We need better organized international shows. I feel like the Germany promoters did not do a good enough job in advertising the show to non- Zimbabweans. Germans are very curious and fascinated by African music and they tend to attend shows out of curiosity. Furthermore, the concert was poorly organized in terms of when the doors opened, the time the actual performances started. It should be a combined effort from the artists, managers, record labels and promoters as well.
In terms of creating a unique contemporary zim sound there are people who tried it but they ddnt receive enough support. Winky d did an album ine song yainzi Sungura like, when i heard that sound i thought he had struck gold but zvakazongofa zvakadaro. The song 'Before' by Poptain has a nice sungura guitar that i cant get enough of. Nox has also tried to fuse sungura in some of his beats. Tanto Wavie is sitting on gold with his trapsu but he is not receiving support from his fellow artists,or maybe he has monopolised the sound but yakubhowa just hearing the same voice. I wish the whole hiphop crew ana holy 10, voltz, sainfloew could hop on a trapsu beat. More to that, I wish our zim producers would come together and create a unique contemporary zim sound infusing that sungura guitar and we push it the way amapiano was pushed
thatwasnt an album bro, it was a single,
you should also try to get Winky D on the platform
But he won't come
@@fariewahe did they request him
Eye opening indeed, Thank you guys for inviting Plot!
Plot is a bag of knowledge
Nice hair Becky 😻😻😻
You are hitting the nail on the head. Our countrymen tend to think they have arrived when they are far away from arriving. Its sad to witness
The great combo of Nash,Becky and Denny is awesome..Keep it up guyz keep it up..Liyarocker.Shots to you gqiiiiiiiiiii gqiiiiiiiiii!
Another banger from Beki and Mudhara Denny... Very informative... Thanks guys....
therapy haha you now an antidote show a must to watch
Great enlightening interview, 👏🏽
We need more people like Plot in the industry
Please can you bring Celsius I feel we need to follow up on tht lost talent
great show, lets have Mono Mukundu for Part 2
I agree with you here. MONO needs to come. Legend
Please can we have Mono Mukundu next.
I feel the comments about Winky also apply to Baba Shero. He can be bigger than he is.
I respect Plot's thoughts, very constructive. I just have a different view about issues raised on Winky D, Banda, Engagement and Stuff. I think people has different values in life. I believe these guys are friends who discovered their strengths and talents as they grew. And some people respect the friendship bond so much that no amount of money and followers can come in between. Secondly his formula to the way he does his things is best known buy himself. To me the guy puts a lot of hard work to his music and performance more than anyone else. He does the unexpected and it comes out great. As a small county and the numbers are small. Winky D's best is yet to come trust me guys. We haven't seen anything yet
This interview was entertaining there wasnt any drama but open conversations
Plot is amazing. His passion for local music talent and arts in general is genuine and I think his analysis and critique is fair and progressive.
Interesting show very candid points on artist Iam sure they can learn a lot from this gentleman. You could invite Clive Mono Mukundi former Tuku guitarist and season producer he has broad knowledge of the arts. I can't wait for the next show
This lady is equally top 🔝
Great show Bheki always 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
When it comes to Winky d l think Winky is fighting a different war..one of the first wars was getting airplay for the ghetto youths in dancehall during an urban grooves era but now he is on different agenda totally..plus his criteria is the same to some of american musicians like kendrick and j cole they hardly post their lives but they try by all means for their work to speak out for them and certain wars require less social media but overally this was a great show kudos to plot and the Denny J show
Voicenote 2hrs 45 minutes. Best show once again
Hmm Becky you should get a job ku dairyboard cause hmmm that's catchy you have🔥
I’m here for Becky 😍
She look so good today.
Passionate guy who knows his drill. Great conversation
This is any amazing podcast..been following since episode one but please isai maSubtitles so that we get internationally recognized
Plot has my salute!
We must ask ourselves if these artists that we are so eager to see at the international stage want to reach that stage or they're satisfied with the local space

Often times it's meaningless arrogance and a wrong mental programming which makes people remain in one place. Superseding is essential for growth as a country, the Chevrons and Gems are setting the pace, and I believe if we pull the right strings we can go somewhere.
Plot for Minister of Arts
Plot chibaba
I like the points coming out of this discussion but what i have picked is the fact that as a people all we good at pointing out what we not doing and and actually not appreciating. I understand the initiatives pointed out by plot and the lack of subscriber support from artists but what we fail to see is that in Zimbabwe there are no proper business structures that support music growth. We dont have proper music houses that fund these artists and give them advances to allow them to focus on art. Most artists come from poverty and the moment they get money they get what they dream of. Ipapo tovati havana musoro. The music business scene in Zimbabwe is a hand to mouth business just like any other basa ririmunyika and the best thing you have to appreciate is with such a model you dream to fly. You dream to feed the next day. I believe our artists need to be praised and respected for the little mileage they have had considering the lack of resources. Unless someone or a conglomerate that is moneyed up takes the reigns this story will not end and tinoramba tichiti maArtists haana musoro haasi international. Appreciate what you have and grow it inhouse without actually comparing it with zvekumakwato. That is how you grow naturally without having too much pressure
@Denny, do you sell the hats? I like the Harare one.
The show has since evolved to be more informative than just entertainment..Kudos Guys
Lol but on that note can i get a 'dennyj' tumbler please..
This guy really knows what he's talking about yoh
Well you can't try to put pressure on Zimdancehall to be the pop culture or bring lots of money. It's a genre that is deeply rooted and does not require any evolution. Artists can try to make music from the genre but the genre itself will not change. Zimdancehall will always be a foundation of current and future music.
Plot thats a fact right there on hiring the right manager. Tuku is a case in point he transitioned to Debby and thats how started going big
Plot is not afraid to tell the truth. Big up man
Denimwoods, suhn and Tanto wavie are great 😭😭😭
People listen to good music 🎻
1st time commenting here. Can you bring Winky D pano tinzwe kuti chii chirikunetsa
National crisis spot on Plot
