Crazy how they made a rifle so long ago and it is still relevant in today’s airgun world! with all the new tech coming out, this traditional brand is still popular as ever! Quality and reliability over marketingfluff and hype🥳
Just picked up my new .177 100s this morning from the gunshop, and what a quality, well built rifle it really is. I wasn't sure whether to buy the thumbhole or sporter stock, but after handling the pair, the sporter felt more solid and steadier on aim. I can't wait to try her out now. I also got a tin of H&N sport, field target trophy with the gun. I'll give these a try first before trying others, ATB
An excellent and concise review of this great PCP. I am presently 'sitting on the fence' so to speak as to wether I shold buy the weihrauch 90k (gas ram) or a PCP. You have decidedly given me a huge reason to buying this gun. As you pointed out the Weihrauch engineering is so simple and top class. Thanks a bunch :)x
Good video. Considering this rifle in the .22 version for small game hunting. Yours is the only video, that actually shows how to refill using the scuba attachment, which I found very useful! Cheers.
Lovely Rifle! You can't really beat Weihrauch for the money! I'm a bit of a springer fan myself! I know springer's have their limitations but for the kind of shooting I generally do, they're an inexpensive way to shoot. I have a BSA Airsporter mkii. 51 years old and still going strong! 😁
Thanks Cubleycat, it's about time the HW100 had a decent review up on youtube. As usual great video, also nice to see someone who shoots responsibly and doesn't give the sport a bad name. Happy Shooting and thanks for the video.
Hi Ron. I've owned my .177 HW100s now since February, and after a bit of pellet testing, I now only use H&N Field Target Trophy pellets. These were the pellets that came with the gun, and what the gun shop recommended. If you have not tried them yet I would really give them a go. The grouping was a lot better than all the other brands that I tried. I cant speak about the JSB's though, because my local gun shop doesn't sell them. Atb
Thanks for this review, it helped me make the move to get one. I am very impressed, mine is also a 177 but I think it's around about 20 ft/lb. Using Weihrauch Magnum pellets it shoots a 8mm 5 shot group at 20 m. It would likely do better if I put more scope on it.
I have had my 100 t for more than 4 years now, And i can honestly say, its the finest, most reliable air rifle, I have ever owned. 2 thousand plus rabbits and medals in HFT, and like yours, has never missed a beat. probably the best on the market right now bar none.
Hi yours is one of three reviews I've seen for the HW100S and it has helped me in deciding which rifle to get for myself. Thank you. Paul in Adelaide, South Australia
+Paul Ayres Oh wow its amazing to think someone the other side of the world has seen this video and I hope what ever you do buy you love it as much as I love mine. Emma, in the middle of wet n windy England ;-)
Yes I must try it without the silencer. Not sure about any gain on accuracy with the longer barrel but I think the longer barrel helps make it quieter!
OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much for doing that. I love your setup. Absolutely gorgeous rifle. I've been considering a PCP rifle, but I really like mucking around in the field and thought I would be frustrated with the limited number of shots I could take on a full air canister, but..... there are so many other advantages. It's a dilemma :) Cheers!
Hi cubleycat on the strength of you videos i have just gone out and spent my hard got cash on a HW100 Sporter 1.77 Iv just tested it at my local gun club i just i cant believe the accuracy of this thing tested at 20 25 ,35 yards Bearing in mind this is the first gun i have owned for 40 years i fitted it with a Hawke sidewinder 30 scope 4X16-50 SR6 IR it was so easy to set up and spot on very pleased with whole package.
Arh the never ending argument lol. Right if you are talking sub 12ftlbs (uk limit without permit) 177 travels faster therefore falter which makes life easier when it comes to ranging the target and with the correct pellet can do a better job in some cases than a 22 however a 22 delivers on average an extra 1ftlbs more than a 177 and with 22 it packs a lager punch but your pellet drops much more than the 177 making it more taxing when it comes to judging your range. My preference for sub12 is 177
This is a superbly built hunting rifle! I'm in love with mine I managed a thumb size group at 70 yards rain/wind.. Eating on my new reg conversion to bed in trying out a few pellets tomorrow
you can get the makers info and specs at Weihrauch de, just put Weihrauch in your search bar! They are fitted with a regulator and are at the top of the tree when it comes to quality and accuracy without being at the top of the money tree! hope that helps some ;-)
nice review - nice rifle - I love Weihrauch - beautiful air rifles I still use a HW35E .22 and my wife still uses a HW35 Delux .177 great fun plinking over the years and deadly on rats and rabbits when needed.Love these PCPs - would love to own one in the future.Enjoy your sport thanks for posting :-)
Nice to see a womans perspective on air rifles I am encouraging my two daughters to target shoot as they have had some taster sessions at the local club so now they can subscribe and see it's not just a male sport. I could not make my mind up between a BSA R10 SE and a HW100S in walnut but I think the Weihrauch legendary accuracy and build quality is just nudging it for me over the BSA shot count aside I just think it's a slightly better gun in my limited experience/opinion. So will finally order one from my local gunshop in the next couple weeks .
P Last Both are superb rifles ( R10 & Hw100) I have the R10 in .177 and .22 ( .177 in tree leaf effect , and very nice it is ) and the HW10O T in .20 .. the build quality of the weirauch just makes you want too shoot it all day long .. it it pure gorgeousness .. BSA though ( .177 with Bisley mags ) JUST .. and I mean JUST tips it on the accuracy stakes ...
So I recommend ( but half the fun is trying different pellets out for yourself in YOUR rifle of choice ) BSA R10 .177 = bizley magnums 10.6 grn BSA R10 .22 = FX own pellets ( a JSB derivative ) 16grn Weihrauch .20 = daystate rangemaster sovereigns 13.7 grn
@ Mark Homer I bought the hw100 Thumbhole stock last week and love it, really love it...but think I will buy the R10 se as well in the next few months simply because I can ! and I really want it too , thanks for your opinion & advice on these guins and pellet choice
To answer that question,, I have the carbine version now in .177 again in thumb hole. I havent come across anything as good for me ;-) Air arms are great and been round for years but don't have they same features like a regulator. German stuff is hard to beat thats why I have a VW ;-)
@SnakeSamedi glad the video helped you decide ;-) I havent been using mine for a while and was thinking of selling it but I used it to test the strength of some 4mm lexan by shooting it (a bit random I know) and now I have fallen in love with the HW100 again ;-)
Thanks for this! I'm considering getting one of these, and this has helped me to make up my mind. My local gun-shop is the Belper one, and I'll be asking them to order me one - I agree they give first-class service.
Just had a look, quiet like the ml16 ret myself :-) good to see there arent dozens of scopes to choose from, some times its hard to decide when there is to much choice! I will try the JSB EXACTS EXPRESS, I bought some specialy to try about a month ago but not had chance to try them properly yet :-/
Very good review. HW100 is a fantastic gun. One quick correction, you mentioned you thought the gun could come with a left hand stock, I'm afraid it doesn't. For those fantastic lefthand shooters like me you need to opt for the thumbhole stock HW100T which is ambidexerous (probably not spelt right) Best gun I ever used yes its on the weighty but in most cases its an advantage
It is around 300, it sounds a lot but not when you see what work actually goes into the conversion, there are something like 8 if not more fresh parts machined from scratch, the old reg from the 100 is thrown away and replaced with bens plus other stuff like fx cylnder + more. It really depends on where u want to go with it, mines had it all plus has the full huggett shroud, rowan trigger, i doubt you will see a better hw100 only thing it is missing is a custom stock
It will fit but might be a problem if you have a silencer fitted, if its the FSB version with no silencer it will fit but you may need to put something round the cylinder where it fits to the front barrel band/bracket!
Hi mate, well after speaking to a few I've been told they get 55-60 shots if your counting the super accurate consistent shots from a standard 100kt. Roughly mine does over 110 shots so it's improved it yes.. It also pipped my mates at 70 yard group which I could cover with my thumb, it was raining and windy aswell at the time. I'm going to fully test it soon for the channel
i have never heard of this gun untill i stumbled upon your videos. we can't own silencers here in this state in the pacific, but that repeater and air tank is awesome.
Hi the guy who came into the shop, I remember you :-) I am glad you like the rifle. We are selling so many Weihrauchs which is amazing for saying there's a depression on at the moment! You made the right decision I think anyway ;-) ATB Emma
That is what going off what i've been told around 50/60 consistent shots on a standard k100 177, mine is doing around 110 shots (. 177) I managed a group I could cover with my thumb at 70 yards, i think I can close that down because it was raining and gusty at the time! I just got a Wolf Tactical in 22 and have been trying that out but will get back to the 100 soon and do some LR plinking with it Plink
@mucckker Hi .177 is generally considered more accurate and has a flatter trajectory so wont drop off so much, .22 is preferred by hunters though a .177 is still able to do clean kills for hunting when shot in the head or vital organs. It depends what you will be using it for! ;-)
gamo's are good for tuning; spring guides for the sound, springs, relube, piston seal, polishing contact parts. CTD grt III triggers. depends on the money you want to spend.
thankyou for such a great review, I looked at the HW100 today and totally fell in love with it lol...I had been looking at the AA S410 but after seeing the HW100 I can see the difference in Quaility..I now know which one i will buy...looks like I will be owning a HW100 Very soon
Nice gun, love mine to bits but do a regular chronograph check within the warranty period as they do have a tendancy to creep up in power after a while and you should get it rectified FOC as part of the warranty. I found out too late and missed an HFT shoot today because my power has crept up :(
yes this is the general rule but I have done some rat control with the .177 with a domed pellet(for best results use a flat head) and the rats did not move a bit after I hit them in the head.
Hell, that is one nice rifle. I have many firearms, rifles and hand guns, a pretty large collection. I think my air rifle (FX Gladiator), is my favorite rifle out of all of them. I like it even better that my AR15 Bushmaster 223. There is just something about shooting a pretty powerful rifle with hardly any sound and nothing but air to power it. I also love it because I can shoot it almost anywhere that has enough open space and of course is safe. I can't shoot my M4 like that. Great vid.
yeah I did trade in the .22, the .177 has a flatter trajectory and hits the target quicker, I shot 3 rats with this one and I found it bet than the .22 but as you know I do head shots on rats so the .177 will dispatch them very well. also I can still smash bottles at 75yards using a heavy pellet so with the correct pellet for the jod its better all round
Its 14 shot mag, regulated so there is no power curve and its easier to cock. The air arms is very good, it costs less but has no regulator and the 10 shot mag is not so easy to refill in the S410. current prices on the net are £750 for HW100 and Air Arms from S400 Classic at Beech Stock.£420 to S410 Carbine at £745. All HW100's are same price and Walnut stock and come with 2x 14shot mags and one of the best silencers available included. the choice is yours ;-)
Yes my theory is that a pellet that weighs the same as a .22 but is smaller should be less affected by the wind and at the end of the day its the same mass hitting the target.
the JBS exact in 177 are the best I have put down my hw 100 /in this hw I have put 9000 down it and out of all the pellets I have tried none come close thanks for the video brill cubleycat
Yeah as you say "I have found the JSb are a brilliant pellet and for general paper/can punching as well as hunting" I agree totally but the last lot of pellets arent very good and there are a few other people having problems. good idea about a forum
Very interesting video ! I am a springer shooter but after receiving some good info in this video, i am going to explore the PCP world ! very nice video....
and all of those can be get in: German 7.5 joule. english 16 joule. and the FAC high power versions which is most common in the Netherlands because we have no powerlimit.
have to read this line of comments from bottom one to the up one.
@RealMajor66 I dont think a 7.5 J will adjust that much, it is only for fine tuning. there are quiet a few governing factors like the regulator and the hammer spring. the UK 16,3 J wont go much above the 16,3 J limit as I say its for fine tuning really.
I shoot a HW90k gas ram. Now thats a heavy Weihrauch! Been looking into a HW100, and from your review, I am certain thats what I am gonna get next! Thanks for you exelend review cubleycat!!
great video Emma, i have the HW100kt .177 fitted with the Dr Bob Bottle conversion , my gun has a 400cc bottle fitted so a massive shot count, i have been using the H&N Hunter Extreme .177 pellets with great results IMHO the HW100 is one of the best PCP,s around, your video,s show pest control done in a humane manner and are on my list of fav video,s up with Si& Davy and HuntersVermin-David James andMalc Barnard, keep up the great work. atb Brian
I would say either really, most people say .22 but I have been told a .177 will do the jobs just as well and you dont get pellet drop so much with .177
@lou4runescape You can use it to hunt at 40-50 meters yes but it depends on the power, we have 16 J here so if you have that or more you should be fine for rabbits etc, you can fill the rifle with a divers air tank of special stirrup pump
Hi there I don't bother cleaning my barrel but I do shoot half a dozen pellets before trying the grouping. Some people do clean their barrel but if you over do it you will need to re-lead it again so if its shooting ok leave it. If its a new gun shoot 100 or more pellets through it to get the barrel bedded in ;-)
@MrJoker2112 you can by a qd stud with a thread that replaces the front screw (holds the action to the stock) they cost about a tenner but are the best solution regards Ian
You are so lucky to have this Air Rifle. Sad to say, this rifle is not available in my country. I want this rifle so bad. I watched your video over and over again. I envy you.
Thank you very much for your Review. Im sitting here in germany and im searching a Rifle for Field Target Shooting. The HW100 looks like shes the best for this Job! 5 Stars
Hi Culbleycat. Thnk you for a great review. Watching your videos has definately put me on the path to purchasing one myself. Although i am interested in hunting too not just target shooting, I wanted to ask. What made you change from the .22 to the.177? Also, could you explain to me what is the difference performance-wise betwin the long version and the karabin? I am trying to make an informed decision on which to buy and welcome any advice. Best regards Oz
I have 2 HW100's both in .177 and i would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of buying a precharge air rifle though they are not cheap although in one of them i found the accupells not quite as accurate as air arms field which i now use.
@1willd1 I had both an S400 and S410, both accurate guns. Now i own a HW100T and find it to be more accurate than both my old S4XX rifles with AA diablo field and accupel over all different ranges. However, i've not tried RWS superdomes yet.
Hi I get about 35 fills from a divers bottle, it costs £3 to fill the bottle 7ltr 300bar, a bottle like this would be about £200 to buy. I still like the HW100 the most because of the easy cocking and loading of the pellet mag, it not as cheap as an R10 BSA and doesn't look as nice either but the features far out way looks for me. The R10 is a great rifle as is an Airarms 410/400.
Oh sorry I thought you meant the charging equipment, the reservoir on the rifle is alloy! The rifle weighs 3,8 kg and I guess it is t6 6061 but not sure, its fill pressure it 200bar.
@Kraskification, very interesting! What that implies is that if you want an airgun to slightly exceed the 12 foot pounds power limit, you could buy the argun in 0.177 (say, the Weihrauch 100), and then EXCHANGE the calibre for 0.22! Perhaps, that would only give you an extra 1 to 2 foot pounds more. However, it should be a "closed secret", since theoretically the law would be broken!
@jinkjack Thankyou. I use the rifle on a bi-pod with the camcorder stuck on the back of the scope but as you say you need some muscles for standing shots. :-)
Hi Oz. I like .177 because it travels faster at 12 fpe than .22 so it doesn't drop as much. The performance is the same in long and short but you dont get so many shots as the air reservoir is smaller in the short one. If you are FAC (28 ftlbs) .22 is better because it uses less air and because its traveling faster it wont drop so much. ;-)
I bet you are excited. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy using mine. Sounds like you got a good lot of kit. Try several types of pellets to get the best grouping, I have one that liked Daystate Select 4.52, another like the no extinct Webley mosquito, and my .177 T loves AA diablo. Keep trying different pellets and even different sizes until you are happy with your grouping. Do your testing where there is no wind by the way ;-)

George Chilton I can not agree more Mr.George
Good video. Considering this rifle in the .22 version for small game hunting. Yours is the only video, that actually shows how to refill using the scuba attachment, which I found very useful! Cheers.
I just bought the hw 100 .177 karbine, yet to test it in the field but your videos have helped my choice.
keep up the good work and make more videos.
Great review. I have no use for a gun nowadays, but found my interest reviving. Very professional. Thank you.
Thanks Cubleycat, it's about time the HW100 had a decent review up on youtube. As usual great video, also nice to see someone who shoots responsibly and doesn't give the sport a bad name. Happy Shooting and thanks for the video.
I have been so impressed with your vids on the HW 100 S I've today bought one :)
Hi Ron. I've owned my .177 HW100s now since February, and after a bit of pellet testing, I now only use H&N Field Target Trophy pellets. These were the pellets that came with the gun, and what the gun shop recommended. If you have not tried them yet I would really give them a go. Excellent video, very informative! You should have all the suppliers giving you test rifles with reviews like this! :-) Thanks!
Every time I come back I admire this great review !
That is very kind thankyou!
Yes I must try it without the silencer.
Not sure about any gain on accuracy with the longer barrel but I think the longer barrel helps make it quieter!
OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much for doing that. I love your setup. Absolutely gorgeous rifle. Excellent rig! Probably the best airgun in production.

I hope you enjoy yours half as much as I've enjoyed mine ;-)
Thank you for taking the time with the HW100 today Emma... That was much appreciated and it was a pleasure to meet you too... :)
you are welcome, as you probably noticed I am quiet passionate about the HW100 :-)
cubleycat
I'd say you were passionate about the sport entirely and your enthusiasm is very endearing and infectious... :)
you can get the makers info and specs at Weihrauch de, just put Weihrauch in your search bar! They are fitted with a regulator and are at the top of the tree when it comes to quality and accuracy without being at the top of the money tree! hope that helps some ;-)

the longer barrell will give a higer muzzle velocity as it builds up more pressure.
its also a bit quieter. there are so much hw100 models.
bought a hw100kt about 2 weeks ago, very pleased and thanks to your informative video for helping me decide :)
Lovely rifle. Looking forward to getting my HW100 in a about 6 weeks. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I'll check it out. Hopefully there'll be an exploded view of the reservoir and components? :)

It is usable at 10yards but you do get eye relief error, the scope is set for 25yards + so not the most ideal one for an air rifle but great quality
I like the .177 especially with the vast choice of pellets these day, I have had good results with long range shots with the .177
HOPE ALL IS WELL, ARE BYOU STILL DOING VIDS? FROM SURREY
thankyou for such a great review, I looked at the HW100 today and totally fell in love with it lol...I had been looking at the AA S410 but after seeing the HW100 I can see the difference in Quaility..I now know which one i will buy...looks like I will be owning a HW100 Very soon
Nice gun, love mine to bits but do a regular chronograph check within the warranty period as they do have a tendancy to creep up in power after a while and you should get it rectified FOC as part of the warranty.
I found out too late and missed an HFT shoot today because my power has crept up :(
Weihrauch are heavy even my HW60 is. The quality is right up there with the Anschütz
Got a HW97KT & love it
Please new another video with your new rifle ! This video one of the best on the web !!!! Respect .
yes this is the general rule but I have done some rat control with the .177 with a domed pellet(for best results use a flat head) and the rats did not move a bit after I hit them in the head.
I like a heavier rifle but I need to shoot as quickly as possible, it gets too heavy after a while but the weight can help keep it steady!
Oh right I would have expected they did a left hand stock but yes the thumb hole is ambidextrous and it looks good too.
Good clear video and advice ,but can it be pumped up with a stirrup pump easily (hw100 carbine )?
I'm trying to decide what rifle to get.. so many choices, but this was a great review. Thanks for sharing...
Hey you, i love all your video's your very helpful and make a better commentator / presenter than many of the others A++
Its 14 shot mag, regulated so there is no power curve and its easier to cock.
BRILLIANT REVIEW.
the JBS exact in 177 are the best I have put down my hw 100 /in this hw I have put 9000 down it and out of all the pellets I have tried none come close thanks for the video brill cubleycat
Yeah as you say "I have found the JSb are a brilliant pellet and for general paper/can punching as well as hunting" I agree totally but the last lot of pellets arent very good and there are a few other people having problems. good idea about a forum
Thanks for a excellent review , After much deliberation I’ve decided to order one next week ,can’t wait 👍
They are a lovely bit of kit, very few people regret buying them, something that cant be said for many other makes!
Thanks for you exelend review cubleycat!!
great video Emma, i have the HW100kt .177 fitted with the Dr Bob Bottle conversion , my gun has a 400cc bottle fitted so a massive shot count, i have been using the H&N
Hunter Extreme .177 pellets with great results IMHO the HW100 is one of the best PCP,s around, your video,s show pest control done in a humane manner
and are on my list of fav video,s up with Si& Davy and HuntersVermin-David James
andMalc Barnard, keep up the great work.
atb Brian
Yes they are usually best left with pressure in them
thanks for the nice and clear review. I'm probably buying the hw 100 T soon. I can't wait for it.
Cheers!
I would say either really, most people say .22 but I have been told a .177 will do the jobs just as well and you dont get pellet drop so much with .177
@Kraskification, you've helped a lot, because I like physics, so I find it interesting.
I envy you.
Fantastic video im going to purchase one tomorrow (UK) but trying to decide which to buy, the .177 or the .22
I'd recommend a Rowan trigger & a Ben Taylor regulator aswell, mines had the fully monty! Its doubled the shots (carbine)
Thank you very much for your Review.
Im sitting here in germany and im searching a Rifle for Field Target Shooting.
The HW100 looks like shes the best for this Job!
5 Stars
Excellent review, 5 stars! Beautiful AG and great choice on the scope. Does it focus down to 10 yards? Or 25 yards?
Hi Culbleycat. Thnk you for a great review. Watching your videos has definately put me on the path to purchasing one myself.
Although i am interested in hunting too not just target shooting, I wanted to ask.
What made you change from the .22 to the.177?
Also, could you explain to me what is the difference performance-wise betwin the long version and the karabin?
I am trying to make an informed decision on which to buy and welcome any advice.
Best regards
Oz
I have 2 HW100's both in .177 and i would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of buying a precharge air rifle though they are not cheap although in one of them i found the accupells not quite as accurate as air arms field which i now use.
nice vid, ive literaly been to my local gun shop about an hour ago with a mate looking at these guns, im very tempted to get one i have to say
Thanks the scope is a Bushnell elite 6500 4.4-30x50
Its did pip my mates standard 100 in the same cal at 70 yards, conditions were not the best though ;)
This video's nine years old fk me has it been out that long god feels like the hw only came out a few years ago nine bloody years 😭I feel old now
Tell me about it, time goes so fast 😳 😁
Its the old version that you have to take the tank off to fill, yes a scuba tank which is 300Bar is perfect thats what I use
You get more shots per fill in .22 and it has a harder punch but it drop more over distance. with the 177 it is easier to use at different ranges. :-)
