I walked through Yamashina Canal in Yamashina Ward, Kyoto City. It is said to have been built during the Meiji period to draw water from Lake Biwa into Kyoto. The water was flowing smoothly, and I took a leisurely stroll while watching birds hunting for fish, turtles and their children, and a large amount of tangled aquatic plants. Surrounded by wonderful nature, it was a wonderful walking course that you can enjoy depending on the season, such as the autumn leaves and the cherry blossoms in the spring.
京都市山科区にある山科疏水を歩いてきました。明治時代に琵琶湖の水を京都へ引き込むためにつくられたとのことです。水はさらさらと流れており、魚を狙う鳥や亀の親子、絡まった大量の水草などを眺めながらゆったり散策してきました。素晴らしい自然に囲まれており、紅葉の秋や春の桜など、季節によって楽しませてくれる素晴らしい散策コースでした。
