      It's not rare, it's more probable that those that are the change do not advertise it to the world so you can't see them and that most people support the status quo so they do not wish to see any change. They mostly say they would like things to change since it's "present year's" and it's a "cool thing to say".

      I like how there are people who need to pose for others to look at them and need admiration, especially when there is very little to admire. I like how people start fetishizing any environment and turn it into some special lifestyle they can brag about and identify with.
      Recently I discovered people who want to act like they don't care about material possessions but they constantly talk about all the things that they don't buy and they arrange their lives around stuff they didn't buy, and they call themselves minimalists to feel important about it.
      I have an oven where I get warmth from wood and fire, I cook on that. I have no running water, but there is a well in the neighborhood. I take water early in the morning before bees come out, they don't always like me. In winter I sometimes just have to buy water, but for many uses snow is just fine. My refrigerator is winter weather, in summer I eat fresh. ...
      Is this romantic survivalism? How low do I have to go to identify myself as a person with my environment and start showing it to others as some kind of romantic accomplishment? Should I open instagram and put a picture of me with water buckets? #survivalism #woodlife #traditionalism ...
      I don't call it a lifestyle, I don't consider it survivalism. I would feel ridiculous if I were proud to live a common, normal life and try to turn it into a lifestyle and identity for myself.
      There are rich kids everywhere who wear hobo cloths to look cool, or so they think, and there are rich people who perform this survivalist wannabe act to look cool, or so they think. It's just fashion.

    • @mariecachet867
      @mariecachet867  6 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      No, you do not understand, I too think that this lifestyle is normal. The title of the video is a bit ironic. However, as you can see in the comments, this video has been in great demand because most people need models to dare to change their lifestyle. And unfortunately, the models proposed today are quite the opposite of this lifestyle in the so-called civilized Western Europe. Seeing a simple lifestyle allows you to tell yourself that you're not crazy if you too do it, so it's easier to change your lifestyle. And I think that only a simpler lifestyle is a long-term lifestyle, in fact it's survivalism in a way, yes. It is to survive far away from the banks, far away from slavery.
      I'm not saying that our way of life is the ideal, but as I explained, I made this video, to inspire people. If you are not happy with that, it's the same for me.

      Marie Cachet People wants to see others in bad light because they admire something wise and only thing which they can make is to poison. I was dreaming for many years to live like a viking and then I started my journey with reenacment. Now Im collecting money on my land for my family and for our simpler life. I have big inspiration from Vikernes/Cachet family to change my worldview and lifestyle. It's not for me but for my future grandchildren. Cowards and lazy asses don't want this life.

    • @slavkoputnik227
      @slavkoputnik227 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most people do live like this, still. It is quite normal. It is just that some rich westerners need to feel special about the new subculture that they have discovered, they pack it in a brand, romantically identify with it and feel very important because of it.
      I appreciate whenever people want to inspire others, and I still think it is ridiculous - mostly because such subcultural performers misinterpret aesthetics and lifestyle for meaning and then again completely fail at what they try to reproduce.

    • @slavkoputnik227
      @slavkoputnik227 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      You can't possibly know what your grandchildren will want. You can't know what your children will want. Where I live kids still want to go to the city. There are more opportunities for them, they think. They romanticize the city life.
      When you have to live in the country, then it is not so romantic. When you dream about it, it can be very much romantic. But it is the same as anything in life.
      On most days, country life is mud and sheep crap. The key is to find beauty in that. If you do it for Instagram/youtube/facebook, the chance is you won't like it all that much.

    Your family lives a lot like me, my brother and mom. We live in a small area (850 square feet) on a 1 acre property in the forest. I just put in a hugelkultur garden bed (10 by 10 feet) and began planting comfrey, borage, and some grains and grasses to experiment with the soil (which is pretty much just sand). The big thing this year will be the addition of a couple of bee hives (Warre hives for the wax of course) which I'm jumping into. 10 years ago before we moved here we had a whole lot of useless items which over time was either burned, given away, or gradually ruined through lack of use. Now everything has become much more simple, useful, and compact. We're still on the grid though... looking into using ram pumps to generate electricity with moving water.
    Also, you and your whole family are wonderful.

      @hallowed heart. I read about people who bought a property where the "soil" was about 90% sand. They grew large radishes in there (I guess they had to use liquid fertilizer of some natural kind to get the crop going) and just let those radishes rot in place. They say that this eventually formed some nice soil. A good start in any case.

    • @psykatic

      цариця звірів yeah, no problem, I'm living in Kharkiv now, here in Kharkivs'ka oblast' (Kharkiv region) we have one of the most fertile soil in the whole world, Ukrainians call this soil as "чернозем" which means "black soil" because it has a lot of humus. Climate is temperate (a cold winter and hot summer). Here is an incredibly diverse nature. It is absolutely exciting, and in the villages and forests it is still completely virgin. In comparison with European and American prices, the land here is incredibly cheap, as well as everything else. And Kharkiv is much farther from the war zone (which fortunately is already on the decline) than it may seem looking at the map, let alone the area (область). And if you look through the map of the glacial period, the glaciers never reached here. Besides, in Ukraine here are incredibly few black people, those that are - only temporary students, and "refugees" do not go here. Culture and especially living pure language are incredibly beautiful. We can chat here - s l i p u s h k i n . d e v @ g m a i l . c o m (without spaces).

Wish one day I'll be capable to live in a similar way, using the power of sun, candles and most of all, using objects that can be recycled or otherwise used for a long duration and for multiple purposes, avoiding consumism and the act of "throwing away things". Strongly approve the way that you use to let grow your children in a natural ambient without the less contact with technology. Thank you for the music, the inspiration and the message that you brough to people. Stay safe and be protected by Nature.

    That was a most interesting tour of your lovely home. Thanks! Up until two to three generations ago here in N. Amerika, probably 90% of all rural people lived with what you have - and much less.
    I see you have some winter squash (pumpkin) in storage. It is my favorite vegetable to grow, have tried many varieties - and the very best is a variety from France that is not well here; the one company that sold this variety of seed has stopped selling it. Criminal. Of course I saved my seed anyway.

      @frothingfanboy. I meant to say that the variety of French squash I grow is not well known here.

    I noticed many glass jars, and I love seeing this. I reuse every glass jar and bottle I buy if possible. I shop the bargain/clearance sections at my local food stores and many fresh fruits and veggies are next to free. I dry the herbs on racks in my cupboards and if possible can the fruits and veggies.

    Legos! If there's anything good that came out of this decrepit system it has to be these blocks. Legos taught me more about life, how to be creative to achieve my goals than anything ever in school. Except Legos in school of course.

    65 m2 for 7 persons, that means good space management.
    I am glad to see, that there are many people here, who sees you as an inspiration (including myself). Today´s youths have such different life values and are driven by motto: " I live just once, I wanna enjoy life" . Enjoy life like - partying, trying everything, no saving money but spending on junk and sees settling family as some kind of weird utopia.

    Much respect for home-schooling your children!! You can be very glad that this is legally possible in your country. I live in a country where children are forced by law to go to school. Complete indoctrination in full force, ensured by law itself. If parents decide to not send their children to state schools the government will take away their children. An absolute dystopian nightmare.

    Ive seen a few of you and your husbands videos to know that there is love in your home. Your children look very comfortable in their own skin, they look happy to be with their parents. You can tell alot about a person or a family by just looking around their home. What i see is a family that gives a damn. That take care of themselves and has their family rituals and upkeep. Nay to all who say otherwise. I feel you guys have more clarity, happiness, fulfillment and accomplishment than most can say about their own lives despite their bloated piety and money. Even with all of your set backs, you displayed perseverance and it shows. May the gods bless, watch over and guide everyone of you.

    Congratulations! I didn't know you were pregnant again. :) I know, you must be very busy with so many kids, but I thought it might be a wonderful video to talk about your birth experiences, breastfeeding, weaning etc. I have two children myself and always wished, someone with so much experience such as yourself could give advice. There is just no one to ask anymore when it comes to traditional upbringing of infants!
