Crawley is mainly a new town from the 1960s. It has a bit of a dodgy reputation nowadays for drugs and crime, but in fact, most people there will be working locally, most likely at Gatwick Airport nearby. And yes, seagulls can get that far!
Most of the new towns have a drug problem. Youth with bad parenting is epidemic. Otherwise these towns would be lovely. At least they didn’t ruin Crowley, like Stevenage, with over building flats.
@@CeeCTFCright? Several years ago I was relocated to work in the Crawley area. My initial reaction was OMG but I found the people welcoming and friendly. Very few residents criticised the town, and many were proud about where they lived. Many work at Gatwick airport. Within the Crawley area there are several beautiful public parks, including Tilgate, Buchan, Isfield Mill Pond, Worth and Goffs Park 🌲🛝🐝🦊🪺

The shopping centre lost a lot of it's soul (if a modern shopping centre could have one!) when Debenhams closed down. It occupied the whole end of the building, and now it is just an empty void. So that end always feels desolate now. I go to Crawley a lot as it does have enough shops to be useful, although it hasn't got the appeal to make you linger.
Agreed, County Mall used to have loads of great shops but I recently visited it for the first time in about a year or two and I was shocked as to how dead it was and how many shops had closed.
Glad you liked Crawley, it often gets a bad rep, but compared with a lot of places that have been built since the 60's it's not bad at all. It has history that maybe you missed. It was once an important staging point between London and Brighton, the George Hotel being an old coaching halt, and it was part of the new town regeneration during the 50's and 60's when the town was built up to house Londoners who had been bombed out during WW2. The acid bath murders happened here, and on a more cheerful note, The Cure started their carrier here, and Gareth Southgate was a Crawley man. The Old Punch Bowel is not the worst pub in the town, by a long shot, and Shades is definitely on of, if not the best. Saturday night the place is buzzing, well the old town is, so well worth a visit. Sadly the shopping area has suffered the same fate as most high streets with retailers moving out, the most recent being M&S. We have a League 1 football club too, so come back on a Saturday when they are playing at home and feel the full Crawley experience.....
Of course it would. It's a place filled with thugs, druggies, regular stabbings (especially in gossips) and the amount of times I have witnessed drunk anti social behaviour is insane. I have been assaulted for simply sitting on a park bench in crawley. I used to really love the town but honestly it has become an absolute load of rubbish. Not to mention all the shops closing including big names too like M & S. Wetherspoons has had fights in it too. The list goes on. Ironically enough the further out you go from the town centre the nicer it is.

I’ve always hated crawley, I definitely think it depends on what time you go. Last time I went a couple weeks ago there was some people in balaclavas trying to rob the vape shop in the town centre. Sums up the place.
It was a pretty sad day when the Norwich Ikea "Order Collection Point" permanently closed its doors on 16th July 2021... It had a cafe and was kinda just a mini version of the real Ikeas. It is now, one of the major things lacking in The Fine City. I'd also love a Decathlon to be fair.
Crawley town centre did used to have a gun shop called Kirkman guns in The Broadway but this is long gone. I think it closed down sometime in the early 1980's.
I used to work in Crawley in the early 2000s and used to go out there for a night out. It was one of the places people would go to for the night life as they had a club near the train station. Is it still there? If you have a night out there you need to hit up that club.
I actually quite like the Punch Bowl, but is definitely different after like 10-11pm 😅 Crawley itself is a mixed bag, lots of conveniences but traffic is rubbish and some questionable people around at times. Great during the day though, and at many of the parks
Thetford should have the IKEA not Norwich. Thetford is on the A11. Ikea would swamp Norwich roads. Decathlon.. Yes but we do have the ski place already in lakenham. Costco? Again, stick it on the A11 at Thetford.
@ManWalksDogs no I meant the Snow fit up near Tuckswood. Where you can get all your ski gear from. A decathlon would be amazing but can't beat proper service
Our mall used to be brilliant! And esp when we had a diner. Bit of a ghost town now all round. We had some really decent shops when we moved here. Feels so sad and unloved! Still love Crawley in general tho.

I’ve always hated crawley, I definitely think it depends on what time you go. Last time I went a couple weeks ago there was some people in balaclavas trying to rob the vape shop in the town centre. Sums up the place.
As someone who grew up here and its lovely until you leave the town centre, great night out though!
"Iron slag" "Is that your wrestling name?"😂😂
It’s a good name!
@@RobbieKnox it is!😄
please do one of these in a lovely town like wisbech or kings lynn😍
sensational hair cut robbie, you look great
The scream after she said it wasnt a pound😂😂😂
Terrifying.
1:44 peep the wave
well spotted; i was too busy admiring becky's smooth panning and nice framing of the building
It was always a half hearted attempt at an IKEA. I want a full scale mega one!
could do with a premier league team tbf
@@RobbieKnox I'd love a full size one to be fair, it would be bloomin' mega.
They now deliver to Tesco Sprowston. Feels dodgy but you meet an ikea van in the car park.
@@starrffishnine no-one but the select few enjoy their time in the prem, as our neighbours are starting to realise...
also this series is brilliant please do every single town 🤣
Love this series, where next Robbie?!😁
Not sure. Will get a map out!
Should do Aylesbury!! It’s also bleak and has pubs!
Come to Lincoln 🎉 some great pubs uphill
I will one day!
I have also never tried a kebab now I want too, which would you recommend?
Lamb donner is your classic. Chicken shish your healthy option. Meat and chips the elite late night move.
kofte is one of my fave's but find a shop with better pricing than Troy's: FOURTEEN pounds for a large kofte there!!
I beg this video gets 50k robbie!! Recent form would suggest it will..
I really hope it stops at 49,000.
@@RobbieKnox 👀👀👀👀👀
Crawley town centre did used to have a gun shop called Kirkman guns in The Broadway but this is long gone.
I think it closed down sometime in the early 1980's.
I live in Crawley, night life is decent in my opinion, usually go weatherspoons then turtle bay, always decent 👏
I used to work in Crawley in the early 2000s and used to go out there for a night out. It was one of the places people would go to for the night life as they had a club near the train station. Is it still there? If you have a night out there you need to hit up that club.
It got demolished this year
Weston-super-Mare has to be on the list!!
(Crawley area resident from 71 years ago) You really missed a trick there - "What tickles your fancy, Becky?" while standing opposite Ann Summers!
I feel blessed that my town of Reading has Decathlon, IKEA and Costco.
And the Purple Turtle!
@@RobbieKnox !!!!! Unless I've missed it, you and Becky need to do a Reading pub crawl. Also grab a Sweeney and Todd pie
You should visit Burton Upon Trent, the brewery capital of the UK
I actually quite like the Punch Bowl, but is definitely different after like 10-11pm 😅 Crawley itself is a mixed bag, lots of conveniences but traffic is rubbish and some questionable people around at times. Great during the day though, and at many of the parks
As someone that lives in crawley, it's amazing
As someone who lives in Crawley - it’s not
@@KickAxe1000 It is tbh
Genuine question as someone who lives nearby and uses it for shopping sometimes. What do you find amazing about it?
@@25johnlowe Idk lived their my whole life so?
The one time the legendary Robbie Knox visits my town, and im not there to see him :(
Sorry to miss you!
The gun shop is long gone!! I remember my dad buying a BB gun in there when I was young 😂😂😂
Didn’t let him down this time Becky 👌
She turns up for the glamorous days out.
Been Crawley me whole life lol. Nice to see videos on it from others well out the way though :) 😊
Thetford should have the IKEA not Norwich. Thetford is on the A11. Ikea would swamp Norwich roads.
Decathlon.. Yes but we do have the ski place already in lakenham.
Costco? Again, stick it on the A11 at Thetford.
Enough Thetford propaganda.
are you referring to norfolk snowsports club at trowse newton?
@ManWalksDogs no I meant the Snow fit up near Tuckswood. Where you can get all your ski gear from. A decathlon would be amazing but can't beat proper service
@@S-ki7mz ahh ok got ya; i'm not over that way much, so i'm not familiar with the shops they have
You should visit Horsham, West Sussex. Piries place is historical, I think you will like it 👍.
Please come to Gloucester Robbie. It is ripe for one of these videos
Our mall used to be brilliant! And esp when we had a diner. Bit of a ghost town now all round. We had some really decent shops when we moved here. Feels so sad and unloved! Still love Crawley in general tho.
The gun shop that you are referring to was actually a surplus shop.
Crawley surplus store, not a gun shop
-"Birds are mammals"
Defund Welsh schools.
Went to Crawley college in the 1970s. I didn't enjoy the experience and left the course I was on half way through and completed it at Brighton college. It wasn't a great town in those days.
Ah you guys should have gone to Tilgate park
yeah Tilgate is nice to be fair.
Right Robbie you need to come Southport! Proper seaside time and if you come to Caffe Nero I'll make you a beautiful coffee
Hopefully will make it one day!
very strange, was in Crawley last week for work and picked the same two pubs, both great pubs.
