I don't even have the vocabulary to describe the way that piece TOUCHES my SOUL. I've always felt out of place wherever I was in my life, even in and with my family... but this melody, that sound? It's like all the cells in my body recognizes it. It sounds and feels like home.
During the course of your life, if you make a beat or a song that gets recognized by an Orchestra, and played in a concert, you are or were somebody. Period point blank.
Look at how Dilla's music transcended race, class, economics, beliefs and pulled these INCREDIBLY talented people together to honor HIM...look at how music never dies...Dilla sampled from earlier artists, and making it his own, then he get HIS music taken to a ENTIRELY different level!!! I love music...energy & vibration never dies
I hear you man. This is one of the most amazing and nicest things. From febuary 7th to 10th i play nothing but j dilla instrumentals and beats. I call it dilla fest in my own mind lol. I like to think it makes the man smile once a year. I always kick dilla feat off with this special piece.
Big ups to Miguel Atwood-Ferguson though for taking Dilla's music, arranging and composing it, then executing it perfectly. The orchestra is amazing as well. So many musicians of different races, religions, backgrounds, etc., but it doesn't matter because music is universal. #OneLove
Sun rising above the city, people setting about their day, getting ready for work, getting their kids ready for school. Getting their prayers up and their mind straight..for a day created by an Almighty Creator and Father. Another day to make a difference and make another soul smile. Another day to shine and be a reflection of His Light. Fantastic song ministered to my spirit..
Had a rough time over the last year, been healing up a lot in the meantime and occasionally come back to this song - this comment always sitting at the top makes me really happy. The world can be a little unpeaceful at times and the positive spirit shared by the people just enjoying a beautiful piece of music gives me a lot of hope. Bravo, dude.
To the young people out there- don't speak for your whole generation. Many of us have dedicated ourselves to creating and preserving music and study it day and night. Trust us. We got you.
Sent this to a new head/non-believer of Hip Hop sounding Classical. Now she is smitten bitten & doing the good work. Her schools band played it in a concert & she said the audience was all love. One love to J-Dilla...all love for his genius. Gone, but we'll make sure never forgotten. RIP
This is what music is about, dilla was a genius, and him and his music will always be timeless, and that's why we can describe him as a genius. I hope one day people will wake up from the mainstream nightmare, and start making good music again. Dilla we thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
I remember when I heard "Untitled" for the first time. I almost ran off the road in amazement. I've bought Vol.2 more times than any other album I own. And I own A LOT of albums. R.I.P Jay Dee.
I've listened to this the past 4 years on your birthday Dilla.... So many emotions hearing it, from sadness and joy because you inspired so many people thru your music. Me being one,... your favorite producer's favorite producer Happy Birthday Dilla aka James Yancey aka Jay Dee
3:20... the brass comes in and I always loses it... it's like heaven and dilla was up there smiling down and loving this interpretation....gone too soon Dilla and this music shows how much your loved and missed...Rest In beats 4ever 🐐
Dope Dilla face sticker on my back windshield rollin' around Detroit showing respect like I'm spose to. Dilla will always be our Hometown Hero! R.I.Beats
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I LOVE AND SUPPORT TH-cam...WITHOUT YOU TUBE WHO WOULDVE EVER KNOWN THERES A WHOLE OPERA RENDITION OF DILLAS MUSIC!! THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
The emotion Miguel Atwood-Ferguson shows during these sessions gives me goosebumps and think speaks of what we all feel listening to these works of art.
This made me tear up too! I'm going through so much right now and feel so unsettled...and this brought an ease over me. Like a message through chords to just breathe and relax. Makes me thankful to just be alive!
These 5 minutes and 46 seconds of music could represent what the human experience could be! Our passion, love, soul, creativity, pain and life experience. For the 13 dislike on the page, you have no soul!
A return to the essence of the culture. From the Bronx to South central to Chicago to the ATl. and world wide. Re-created by unconventional means for eternity. Life feels a little easier after listening to this rendition, many times we say peace and blessings but I achieved peace through the blessing of this piece. Peace, K.A.
Just wow. I hate that this is the first time i heard this one. I was listening to the original Untitled/Fantastic thinking back to how epic it was hanging out at St Andrew's and hearing the buzz about the Slum Village album vol. 2, the bootleg and test presses that were circulating and finally the actual cd or vinyl that was released made this S.V.. & Dilla true legend. It's funny I met everyone close to Shoes,Dilla Baatin, T3 and I'm cool with Nick Speed, Elzhi but never got a chance to meet Dilla. This track made my memories of that time cinematic. Thanks for the post.
I am just now seeing this and I am so fucking blown away... The idea of an orchestra even attempting to recreate this timeless hit with original instrumentation....This is magical... All respect due to Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Hip Hop is alive!
My generation has no idea what music is..Dilla will forever be one of my greatest inspirations. This truly touches the soul, and I wish I could just play this for the whole world to hear. Incredible and 'Fantastic' indeed.
I sort of consider myself one of the last generation people to have been able to enjoy good music on TV especially hiphop. Dilla was on TV, radio, Tribe was the best selling hiphop/r&b album on billboard charts, you saw wu tang debut at no.1, selling platinum in first week etc. All of this was what I grew up and watched as "popular music" in middle and high school. We had our share of poppy music, but the point was that we had a choice, and good music got a chance to shine next to your pop music. Now days though, your generation has NO choice to make from good music or really commercial music, and I think it's not fair. Learn from greats like dilla, and spread the knowledge I say to your peers.
eladbrit They do have a choice; the choice is to search for themselves to find good music. The radio does not have a gun to anybodies head; and with the internet you can find music of all types, even within just one Genre. The only problem with this generation, is they do not have the proper guidance. Spread the word, and it may get around.
I remember seeing Slum Village open for D'Angelo in Chicago back in 2000. J Dilla was not there, but the vibe they brought that night still gives me goosebumps. Damn, 15 years ago seems like yesterday!
I'm late on this but this is breathtaking I'm overwhelmed with emotion and tears this version is cold 🥶 blooded with chills R.I.P J.Dilla may your music live on forever from the D, E.Davison 👊🏾💪🏾for life peace 🙏🏾
Wow!...this is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. I could literally feel emotions building in my spirit with the rise and power of the melody in the last segment. To see the pure talent of the conductor and the musicians playing this piece and then adding in the music...AMAZING!!!!
How Am I just finding this? Yes its so beautiful and really brought tears to my eyes. Played the original for years and always just sit back and listen to instrumental version while cleaning.
OMG!!! WIth mouth wide open, sitting on the floor with legs folded, in ultimate trans, mystified, in utter amazement, TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!!! NOW, this is how you give Praise to James "Jay Dilla" Yancey. God bless that god!
My goodness I am soooooooooo in love with this track right now, as much I like classical music with hiphop I have to say, that damn this right here, man words can't explain it cuz even Dilla would be proud to here this.
Have been watching these clips, over the last few days.. and they've made me look at an orchestra, in a complete different light.. This was awesome.. and these guys played so well.. amazing stuff..
I don't even have the vocabulary to describe the way that piece TOUCHES my SOUL.
I've always felt out of place wherever I was in my life, even in and with my family... but this melody, that sound? It's like all the cells in my body recognizes it. It sounds and feels like home.
Word!
The beauty and power of music my friend.
Damn, your Statement is Gospel.
Heaven on earth
This ia a very moving piece.
During the course of your life, if you make a beat or a song that gets recognized by an Orchestra, and played in a concert, you are or were somebody. Period point blank.
Well said
I hope one day while leaving this is me but if it's afterwards because of old age I'm also grateful
Deep
True indeed, brother!
Fuck outta here beauty is in THE EYE.
"Whod' Ever thought that hip hop would take it this far"
More like "Who would have thought Classical music would make it this far!?!" ←

Big ups to Miguel Atwood-Ferguson though for taking Dilla's music, arranging and composing it, then executing it perfectly. The orchestra is amazing as well. So many musicians of different races, religions, backgrounds, etc., but it doesn't matter because music is universal. #OneLove

My favorite Dilla beat…legit shed tears listening to this.

In these pieces, Atwood-Ferguson has done so much to show that J Dilla is perhaps the most important figure in Hip-Hop music ever.
Came back after 10 years. And STILL ♥️
This is what music is about, dilla was a genius, and him and his music will always be timeless, and that's why we can describe him as a genius. Dilla was a musical genius. This beautiful tribute really puts how exceptional he was into perspective.
The 4 people that thumbs down this should have their ears cut off, and donated to someone who could actually use them correctly.
Damn I’m crying….miss you Dilla
