I know there were other options for mounting my rear shocks, including stock 1978 U-bolt mounts. But those options couldn't match up to the burley / functional U-bolt flip kit made by Dave Gore @4plusproducts. Obviously I struggled with the simple install. But it wouldn't be Project Wrong Way without struggle. This kit solved a problem for me, maybe they'll solve one for you too. On to the next axle, the heavy front one.

Ben, those u bolts look long enough that you could cut the cross threaded end off and still have enough left. I would trim off the excess on the installed ones also
4plusproducts already got me a new one. Good call though.
That new rear end brought a smile to my face!
Honest I was stoked to just look at it. I remember what my old one looked like, and I remember what this axle looked like when I got it. And I also remember my skill set... so it’s come a long way.

Rebuilding your Land Cruiser would be a good warm up for tackling an old Series Rover. You think you know heartache now...not even. I spent 10 years working on my truck and, from all outward appearances, it doesn't look that different. I'm in Lake Stevens, Washington. Rich Lambert you have an eye for the details man. Incredible build, Rover looks amazing. Not to mention that Porsche... you’ve got good automotive taste.

I have this kit on my front end. I need to get the rear kit too. Don't mind the haters out there and just keep plugging along. You don't have the luxury of being able to spend all your time on this thing so its actually taking just the right amount of time.
Not haters, motivators! Seriously I know where the dude was coming from, and it’s proper feedback some times. I was dragging, and needed a boost. My goal at the start of this year was to get at least four episodes a month...
As far as the kit goes, I’m in love. It’s a burly piece of equipment and it got me out of the “where to mount my shock” bind.

And I bought the front set to go with the rear! So I got lucky, and 4plusproducts already had a new ubolt on the way.
Yet another fine video. This time with not too much drama just straight to work and doing stuff. I think you can see the fire has been lit and you'll be done with this project in no time. I understand yours and @40Channel projects are in different spots, but you should make a little wager with him whose will finish first. You know a little friendly competition and cross promotional thing between the 2 of you to add to your motivation. You both have the best channels on youtube!

Watching you tighten those bolts with an adjustable wrench made me want to cry.
There are things I do that make me literally cry... I’ve been told I use the adjustable wrench %100 incorrectly. Especially in the intro to the show lol.

I replaced my clutch and all the bearings its taking me a good six week because other things took more priority and small garage space and other things came to my attention so the project kept getting bigger ,I am still not finished , I also have a 1975 fj40 which I totally love and hate .
It’s the trenches for us bro. It’ll be worth it in the end, but damned if it isn’t discouraging walking out and seeing the magnitude of the project in front of you. Little bites to eat the elephant, but it’s still an f$&@in elephant!
Ill take those U-bolts or the cossthreaded ones and mounting plates if they are still available :) I think they would fit my 1977 FJ40??
I ended up letting them go a while back, I believe the 77' has a shock mount on the mounting plate so I don't think it would have worked anyway man.
