- This song was written by Buffy for her 1968 album "I'm Gonna Be a Country Girl Again". It was also included on her 1997 CD "The Best of Buffy Sainte-Marie Volume 2". Lovely melody and wonderful lyrics.....

Incredibly beautiful from a great singer.
For years I resisted country music as it simply wasn't pretty, which is enough for popular music. When I heard Buffy Sainte Marie singing country/folksy type music, with this song being one of her best. Tall Trees in Georgia really reveals the expansive range of emotion in a song--the moan can carry more emotion than the word sometimes: "uuum, and if perfection could be found in mortal men,..." Thanks for all those lovely pictures of this "imperialist of the air," as E. M. Forster would say.

im 30 yrs old, grew up with nirvana, the chili peppers, weezer etc however some how came across buffy sainte-marie in the mix. i can remember being made an ass for liking "country music" the likes of buffy. i took the wrath, however full circle. i can't tell you how many friends i still talk to have all of a sudden discovered buffy saint-marie, wondering who this woman is. anyways thats my story. she is on cool woman...and she has a conscience. living legand

My grandfather was a Nashville session player during the 50's & 60's and over the last 20+ years I've been collecting music he recorded on. The first album that I started my collection with was Buffy Sainte-Marie's "I'm Gonna Be a Country Girl Again."
I still listen to this song/album quite regularly. Good stuff! :-)

Beautiful ballad from a beautiful and talented Native American.This has always been one of my favorites by Buffy.The musical arrangement and backing music is lovely, especially the guitar and piano.These session musicians, not forgetting Buffy's wonderful vocals combined together has a winner here.

I have loved Buffy since her first days and have many of her albums. Her voice always gave me chills and I would listen by the hour. I was so happy to find this and to find that people are still interested in hearing the things she had to say. It makes you weep. Genocide is happening all over the world and we act as though it is new. There is blood on our soil too and it still cries out to us.

I never heard of Buffy Sainte-Marie until tonight when I was putting Sesame Street videos on some playlists on my TH-cam Channel. I watched some clips & heard her sing & she intrigued me. Then I watched some of her music videos. I now like some of her recorded songs. I like this song. It's sad & beautful. It's simple yet complicated at the same time. It's haunting. I relate to the emotional lyrics of this song. I like Buffy Sainte-Marie. I'm glad there are videos of her on TH-cam. :-)

Many years ago I had a cassette( remember them?) of Buffys and it had a version of Winken Blinken & Nod on it I absolutely loved aswell as a lot of other songs-I'd love to hear it again.

I must share. I'm a note-to-color music theorist, and I'm from the Mescalero Apache Reservation here in Southern New Mexico. I'm on the last couple of hours of finishing my short film, "Buffy Sainte-Marie: The Lie That Was Never Told." // I suppose I'm writing here in the comments section because it' s maybe a bit of a reflection on what I am truly doing with this film. It is a work of mostly fiction, but I feel it actually does justice both the Buffy's public, but also to Buffy's MUSIC. This is one the songs featured in the film, I merge a live piano performance that I do with this original studio recording.
