Knights are awesome if you invest in them. Basically, tanks that require less resources and supplies but you have a limited number of them. Also, air support will be your best friend.
This is one of the best mods for HoI4, it has the most dedicated development team who constantly puts out incredibly high quality content, cutting edge mechanics that rival what paradox puts into the game with paid DLC and it’s shit on because people think that ponies are childish and for little girls 🙄 How manly

The Herzlands (minus Fethesia and Bronzehill [the latter is Dwarven-ish]) and Changelings are German inspired. Equestria is America inspired, Stalliongrad is Russia, the Yaks are Mongolia. Olenia is an expy of Finland. Back on Griffonia, Historical Wingbardy is basically Facist Italy if the government and military was competent, and they were also griffons. They could also be Communist, a Monarchy, or a Republic (pretty much every nation has a path for every ideology, and many have serveral. New Mareland has over 15 political paths they can take. Speaking of, they're Australian inspired. Sicameon is loosely inspired by spain, Cylanosia is also German inspired, and the minotaurs are modern/WW2 Greek inspired. Prywhen is a sorta mix between Southeast Asia and Romania, Gryphus is the Ukraine. In the Riverlands, the Zebras are African pirates, Wittenland seems like a bizare mix between Byzantium and Anglo Saxons, Nimbusia is Ancient Greece, The River Republic, Bakara, Deponya, and Lake City seem Slavic, with the latter also seemingly insipred by imperial japan, Diamond Mountain is Dwarven as shxt (including an event chain with a Balrog), and Greneclyf is definitely inspired by medieval/dark-ages Ireland The Griffonian Republic seems Danish after the Campaign I played as them, and Vedina seems Swedish. Nova Griffonia seems to be a bit of Mixed European. And of Course the Dread League is the endless hordes of the undead come for our souls.

IIRC the devs said the overblown hardness stat in the griffonian knights are exagerrated and is a lot smaller than it is. they put it there because one of the base game patches affected the mod.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I beleive the main advantage of the knights is that they get some very good organization bonuses once you grab the relevant researches.
They aren't actually worse at soft attack, he was just comparing INF+ Support Artillery vs Regular Knights. They get some soft attack and some small armor with research as well as all the org you want. I don't bother doing the org only research, you don't really need more imo.

I have literally no knowledge of MLP, its lore, its world, its characters or its fanbase. At best I would describe myeslf as ambivalent towards it. And yet... This mod is so well done that I find myself interested, at least as far as playign this mod goes. Its not likely to convert me into a fan of the whole IP., but the creators have dones such a good job here that it just looks amazing.

To be fair you can boil the dread league down to 80% waiting for focuses to finish, 5% fighting the order, and 15% getting stomped by the now fully formed griffonian empire once you start the crusade.

It's really fun to watch his route from 'Ugh - ponies this girly crap, let's have a laugh...' to 'Wow, this episode was really well made - still girly crap.... but I'll watch probably a few more' - to becoming Cmdr Firebrand and one of the most well known MLP youtubers out there..

You should check out the Animated Leader Portraits mod for EAW, especially if you consider doing a series as Equestria, or one of it's evil empire runs.

Also, you should zoom in and look at the troops. The mod team managed to put in totally unique 3D models with this update, very cool.
