Unfortunately you are not allowed to use a J hook to catch snapper. Good thing it was just a random catch and not targeted 5:57

For Spanish mackerel, I use Matzuo Gold Aberdeen Fish Fishing Hooks size 1/0.

Yes. I use 1/4 to 1/2 oz. weights or smaller depending upon the current.
