As a child, my father, owned a lumberyard most of his life probably from 1948 till the early 2000s. He passed away in 2008 when he was 91 years old. It was in southern Minnesota, and I’m sure that he got his lumber from either further north or Canada. When I was a little girl in the 1960s he would come home from work and I would hop on his foot and grab his leg along with my Little sister standing on his Other foot holding tight to his leg. He would walk us through the house pat us on the back and say now that’s enough. My vivid memory of that is, he smelled like a fresh 2 x 4. When I watch you milling your lumber it brings back that good memory. Karen Florida
i gotta say ,Ryan you have completly changed my life,i am 44 and i suffer from a bad back, but your videos got me out of bed and out chopping trees....mostly i wanted to peel the bark from the trees lol, most satisfing thing ever,Sadly ive watched every video in two days, looking forward to more, most entertaining...Soon as i get to it your definitly getting a tip.... Thank you dearly for sharing your humor and skills......
Am I the only one who wants Ryan to move into this little cabin for good? I'm pretty sure this is how society was built. Soon, he'll build a grocery store, a barber shop, a bank, etc. I truly look forward to his Saturday Morning videos! Thanks.
I look forward to these videos every Saturday. I initially binged watch all the videos and was very bummed when I had to start waiting a week to hear your dry humor and see the cool builds and day to day stuff. Another great video!
I have noticed that ever since you have built back there that almost everything revolves around milled wood. Maybe in the summer you should build a covered shelter for your wood to dry? Also , Not knowing enough about wood to save my life when you pointed out the wood types in your cabin I never knew the difference. I do now! thanks Ryan. There was a huge white sign with black letters right as you entered the Rifle Range at Ft Jackson in South Carolina. It said: I hear;.....I forget I see;.......I remember I do;........ I understand I've never forgotten the simple wisdom of those words.
Always enjoy watching Ryan Ringworms. I often find myself thinking that he could get one thing or another to make things easier. Then I recall the years when I had to go without stuff in order to stretch my meager funds. It’s had a positive lasting effect. I still think hard about the cost of things in relation to the benefits. I retired with enough to get pretty much anything I want. Partly because I don’t really want much. Writing this from my little shack on an island at a frozen Minnesota lake. It got down to -29°F last night but I’m warm. I like that the only tracks I can see here are from me and the deer. Awesome job Ryan!
You manage to accomplish every man’s/ woman’s dream! ❤️ it’s like a creative, build it yourself “Disney woods” You win the prize for FUN stuff to build.
when applying caulk to the batten "people ask why don;t you build it better and you won't need to use caulk" "My answer is , I DON'T WANT TO." Beautiful answer !!!!
Love the black roofing caulk in-between the boards. It makes all boards stand out. You will have somewhere to sleep out of the real cold nights and charge the batteries. Like the idea of the garage door cabin. Good thought process. Stay warm!
@@robertdillon9989 As long as he is caulking outside this should be a minimal problem. There is sufficient air circulation that he should remain relatively safe.
As a tradesman I like watching you do what you do, remembering that it's still fun first, keep that up it's entertaining. As far as the Ryobi caulk gun goes, buy it!!! I just built a garage with cement siding and caulked more tubes than I can remember and that tool was worth every penny(besides it was dirt cheap, under $50). Thanks again for the entertainment.
"But then again, if you never let anyone visit, there's not too many people to make fun of ya." -brilliant statement and delivery before returning your attention to the batten. My two cents on your next garage door music shed space. Use your design skills to make it acoustically project the music into your woods while staying wonky. Thanks for having us all along for the adventure -and buy an automatic chalk gun or you won't be able to fiddle around in the future.
You have been part of my Saturday morning ritual for awhile now. I am vicariously living through you, lol. Thanks for the content! Love following your journey! 👊
Maybe you can put a pull down projector screen in the screened-in deck. Then maybe go ahead and build a instrument room for you to play instruments just a thought. Keep up the good work can never wait till the next Saturday. Thanks Ryan for teaching me a lot and really entertaining us with your amazing skills. Stay safe and warm from Missouri.
Hey there, with the wood u cant get to on outside, screw it from inside into the batterns, plus buy refelctix, silver heat reflecting foil on a roll, place all over inside, really will add so much heat and some insulation, you can always at later date add some wood panelling to cover if want to look pretty. Behind the furnace add some corrugated metal roofing, even better if bit rusty, for looks will reflect heat and keep wood safe from possible burning........u can also get couple old woven rugs from thrift store, nail to wall as wallhanging plus again more insulation. Couple of branches or broom handles on couple bits wood supports will make a hanging slash drying rack. A solar light would be good one for outside of cabin above door, but get slightly different one for use inside, bulb type style. Metal corrugated roof would look amazing on your mini cabin......a flip down table inside be cool to go with flip down bed. Hanging hooks and shelves for your storage needs,or wood dowels for your clothing ect. Big candles would add light and heat u could make some wood sconces for walls in couple places. Sprayed citronella may stop bugs eating the wood could dilute in a cooking oil and spray outside of cabin.... Just a few idess,do like the cabin plus other builds. Take care,peace....n stay warmer heh.
Literally just ran into your brother a few minutes ago & asked "what the heck does your brother do when it's this cold out"? I figured you were hoofing it to get this completed. Stay warm! Hello from Boyne City
These video are my meditation. I literally need this. Working long hours at the restaurant and dealing with life in general. Thank you ringworm homie . Please never stop
Sir, get the powered caulking gun. You can sell it later😩 you clearly love and have fun building your own little village with Tito. Y'all could even go half-ziez Cause he'll need it too. It's awesome watching you be haopy out in ringworm. Keep having fun but also take care of your body🤗🌼
Don't leave both tanks on! In a camper there is a change over valve. When one tank empties you switch over to the other that way you have time to get the emptied one filled back up.......better than running out altogether .
Despite your protests otherwise, you sir are a perfectionist. Get that place closed up and do trim work later! As you say you’ll probably end up taking them off anyway! Just worried about you buddy, want you warm and dry. You were very chatty today too and I’m thinking hurry up times a wasting. 🥰👵🏼🇨🇦
Suggestion number 2. If you could dig a hole below the frost line, big enough to set a plastic barrel in, or part of it anyway, your water would not likely freeze up on you. Be cooler even in the summer for ya too.
* Diamond Grate used for Tool Crib Cage Construction, (and in Detroit, Michigan : "Window Screen", etcetera ...) would be my personal choice to hang and dry items from, as it's about 1/4" thick diamond cut out shapes are PERFECT for strength and durability. And you can get a lot of it from Scrap Yards too. Solar to Batteries to Inverter to Outlet to old 12 volt computer cooling fan(s) mounted in the rafters and blowing downward will send that rising heat back down to the floor and will really help in circulation of heat in the winter. A reverse polarity switch will also send cool air up into the hot rafters in the summer, making it more bearable to work in should you have to be indoors for any reason in the summer heat tinkering on tools or whatever. Always look forward to your videos. Love the ideas of the other projects you want to build, especially the shooting range. Keep going brother and I will keep watching. Thanks Ryan
I think Ryobi would be wise to send their whole line of power tools,as ur camp is a great proving ground for power tools, if the tool can survive ringworm it can survive anything
When you were knocking the snow out of the trees all I could think of is one of those belt machines that is suppose to vibrate a person for exercise from back in the day.
You will love the Ryobi caulking gun! Had mine for about 5 years, and it just keeps working, I like that you can set the speed that it lays down the bead. Love your channel, Harold in Oklahoma.
A lot of work with all the battens and caulk, but it should be very sturdy & warm. No, it's not like tent camping, but will be nice to have in frigid or rainy weather or just to hang out in for variety. Take care & stay safe.
Great video. The roof tar really looks great on the man cave. It’s almost like a wooden “stained glass” piece of art. Are you going to put a carpet on the floor as well. Just think, a nice dry sleeping bag is in your future. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome to the WormStead lol... your on crack detail today lol and it looks great. Not supposed to tape threads on a flare fitting, the line seals at the flare not the threads. If it doesn't allow the fitting to pull the flare in tight it can Cause a leak. The tape can interfere with a proper seat of the flare. Like you wouldnt tape a brake line flare. Cant wait to see how the bed and table turn out. Thanks for sharin. Howdy from Michigan Manistee National Forest :)
Great update video 👍. Ryan is there a cold air intake for the propane stove. Is so use automotive exhaust pipes for it. (Outsider) This will make the space warm as the hot air will try to push out your cracks in your cabin. When you don't have a cold air intake, the stove is pulling combustible air through the cracks in your cabin. That's why it feels drafty. Thanks
Ryan, I like your idea for the music room. Would love to hear you and your friend j am out some classical music. When someone mentions cello I think of "Eleanor Rigby". Maybe when the weather gets better. Have fun, stay safe, and see you soon!
Look great Ryan, looking forward to seeing the benches and workstations and bunky build, I definitely would be sleeping in there when it’s that 🥶 cold, have fun stay safe xxx
Board and Batten is beautiful but remember when u install the Batten make sure you only nail one side not the other cause as the wood shrinks the unnailed side willb allowed to move as each board dries if you caulk then only one side.
With all that cedar you have roofing with cedar shakes would be very cool. Need to find yourself a froe to split out the shakes but it's a pretty simple process and seems right up you alley. Just a thought for next time.

It would be easier and faster filling your water tank, if you put the hose in the top of the tote, because water is heavy and you’re pushing against all that weight. It would be easier on your battery and faster to fill. PS, just a suggestion. (From WV)
