Hi Guys here is a cheap campsite and it’s located 4km north of Longreach just off the Landsborough Highway, Longreach Waterhole Apex Riverside Camp is a very low cost camping site. Shops are only a few km away. There is so much to see in Longreach, so when you go there make sure you see everything Longreach as to offer.
The Apex Riverside Park camping area is a large open dirt area which is a dust bowl and is suitable mostly for caravans and motor-homes that are self contained .
There are toilets and they are keep cleaned and is well stocked. There is no potable water and no showers so make sure you bring your own water.. The cost is $5.00 per night, per vehicle or you can pay $27 a week and is payable at the Longreach Visitor Information Centre, which is on Eagle Street, Longreach QLD, there is a honesty box on site. Generators can't be used after 8pm.
Plus Apex Riverside Park is the site of the Annual Longreach Yellow-belly Classic Fishing Competition.
Please remember if it rains, it's a mud bowl and everyone gets bogged as soon as they leave the ash-felt..

Longreach is on our next itinerary. Only passed through once previously. Did you feel safe leaving your caravan in Apex park while looking around Longreach ? That is the one thing we are nervous about as we have only really stayed in caravan parks if we intend on sightseeing. You have a great personality for your videos. Loving them, keep it up
The campsite is always safe when there is a few vans around..I wouldn't leave the van there if it was the only one there.. Safety in numbers..I use this as a rule all the time when I free camp..Plus I have a video camera in my van that the feed goes straight to my phone. But it only works when I have service and it also records to a SD card which is in the camera. I will have to do a video on this for everyone.. Are those roosters still there?
When I was there I didn't see any roosters. But they might have been hiding.
